Supercell will be sued into oblivion by the parents of the next chat victim.
This isn't a free speech issue or a "treat the kids as a grown up" thing. It is a safety thing that is very real with a real body count. Check out child grooming. Supercell's TOS say that kids have to be 13? You think that makes any difference to the parents of the 14 year old boy who was stabbed by someone who he met through game chat? He was 14, so he deserved to be murdered. Those 13 year old girls who were raped by someone they met through game chat, totally had it coming. NOT. Talk to any social services person about this. Google it.
The parents of the next kid that's hurt by a predator (just set your stopwatch) will sue Supercell for facilitating the abuse and not doing ANYTHING to stop it by giving parents basic tools available all over the gaming world. Any mediocre lawyer will just show any judge ANYWHERE Supercell's willful indifference to the safety of children and they will have to write a big check.
Or they could do the right thing now before they are forced to by a court.
Supercell's lawyers need to protect their client from criminal liability

I just hope that all the concerned parents in this discussion are taking the most affirmative action that they can which is to ask THEIR children to remove the game whether THEY like it all not. How can you complain about the safety or lack of safety in the chat rooms yet continue to let YOUR children play? In the worst case of children being physically or emotionally hurt through this game, you may chose to point the finger at supercell, you may chose to sue them and maybe you'll succeed, but it will be small conscilation when deep down you knew what YOUR children were doing, or that you were so ignorant of what YOUR children were doing.
If, as people previously stated, Supercell know full well the age of kids playing this game and chose to turn a blind eye in favour of revenue, then maybe the number of young people being allowed to play this game dropping will force them to rethink the safety and security of the game.
I have deleted the game from all my devices. My kids won't play any Supercell games until this is fixed.
This is a HUGE liability problem for the entire gaming industry, but especially for Supercell because they are willfully allowing bad things to happen, absolutely refusing the barest safety SETTINGS. Don't they have any lawyers? Don't they realize how it looks like they are hanging "fresh meat" signs around all their users and ringing the dinner bell for every creep on the internet?
Think this is hysterical? Talk to any cop on this topic. Check out the Megan's Law registry for your address (registry web sites vary from state to state). Then realize those are only the creeps that have been convicted. There are many thousands more who have never been caught. Now no matter where they are in the world, Supercell is happily giving creeps full access to your child. It is almost as if THEY WANT THEIR USERS TO GET HURT.
The solution is beyond simple, allow disabling chat in settings. Done. Anything short of that makes them guilty of encouraging crimes.
Supercell lawyers, you need to protect your client from their own worst impulses. Be the grownup in the room. This is a hill worth dying on, a fight you must win.
