If this is the case then I suggest eliminating the 30 second countdown timer once the attack button is pressed.
Instead, once attack is pressed maybe introduce a confirmation message like:
YOU ARE ABOUT TO ATTACK THIS VILLAGE!!! Continue with attack? [yes] [no]
This will help with accidental pressing of the attack button, no 30 second countdown should eliminate the chance to enable airplane mode preventing "Ghost raiding"
I believe that once the attack button is pressed, and you confirm that you wish to continue on to attack the village selected, then you are committed to that attack, and that attack will count as '1 attack used', regardless whether you deploy any troops or not and regardless of the connection whether it cuts out or the player intentionally cuts it.
Hopefully someone from Supercell can give feedback on my post. I'm a member of a family of 3 clans, each holding 50 and most believing that this solution may work out.
