So pleased that Aaron reached his final goal😀😀. I saw your post but too late to help😥😥
I think that, as usual you have summed up the situation well👏👏

I guess you're right. i just hate seeing her upset :( she'll get over it eventually. the only reason she wanted the basket so bad is because she hasn't unlocked the bunny yet. She did put a lot of work in and i was hoping she would get her reward and i still feel that supercell set the goal far too high but i guess that's the whole point of the challenge. Hopefully they will let us purchase the basket for coins or vouchers.
Being disappointed is fine, quitting is not.
The goal was way to high, I don't think it was ever gonna happen. My guess is that they set the goal based on player base but I believe the player base is shrinking based on this and the amount of deals they offer to retain people.
As usual HH, you've summed things up very well. I am so very happy Aaron achieved his goal!!! ;) Makes me very happy.
And, that it was a holiday weekend, and that a good part of the player base could not participate because they are not at a level to have the cake oven yet. I think also a lot of people are a little burned out on some of the events, and only participate enough to get to whatever level the global prize is achievable at, but don't participate further. I actually considered doing that...just participating enough to get the global prize, but the competitive side of me took over and I started producing them non-stop and using Tom to get more cakes. :D I'm not competitive in needing to be on the leader board, but I sure wanted my neighbors to make their goals, lol.
Agreed. I've never been particularly fond of these global events. For me, the prizes aren't worth the effort. I've always only participated enough to get the global prize and called it quits. I never understood why these qualifying levels are set so low...maybe it's to get the lower level players involved, but it's a loophole that I'm sure a lot of people are exploiting. If SC wanted maximum participation in these events, they really should set the qualifying levels higher. Didn't reach level 5? Sorry, don't get global prize.
Also, since everyone values the prizes differently, how about they let us choose the prize we want before each level we complete? I don't care much for axes/saws, LEMs or vouchers but if I was given a choice between those and BEMs, for example, I would complete the level just for the BEMs. Give the people some extra motivation to work towards their personal goals instead of burning them out with prizes they don't want.
After reading through some of these posts, I can understand the disappointment. Although I'm 43 years old and not eight, I can still allow myself to see the world through those eyes. It's easy for someone to say, suck it up and get over it, but games are meant to be fun. As an old school gamer I still think this "pay to win" ♥♥♥♥ is for the birds. I understand the game companies need to be compensated for their time and costs, but there needs to be a happy medium somewhere. I was very happy spending time playing Hay Day when it came out, I never succumbed to the " keeping up with the jones" aspect, and many of my friends dumped considerable sums of money in order to stoke their egos. And slowly I have seen the game dwindle. Remember when they introduced soy sauce? Then almost 80 percent of the boats required it, spend the diamonds or ship it off. I already work 10- 14 hours a day because I'm self employed, the last thing I want to do Is volunteer to come to a game and work some more and not have any fun. For you Hay Day " fan boys" feel feel to flame away, I still enjoy CoC and Boom Beach, but after coming back from a two month Hiatus to try and enjoy a game I used to have fun in, and to have a reward fiasco as this one, I no longer have a desire to waste my time. Oh and thanks for getting back to me almost five months later on a bug I reported that is still in the game, maybe you should hire some more employees to assist the hardworking and over worked support staff.

P.S yeah life is not fair, but each person on the planet has it within
their means to make it fair everyday.
I am so sorry for those upset over not reaching the goal and getting the basket. But I still don't get it, why be upset over not getting an Easter Basket AFTER Easter is over. Did I take part in the event YES, did I reach the personal goal of 58 YES, did I want the Easter Basket YES but realistically the basket should have been offered as a prize during last weeks event so we would have had it as a decoration ON Easter. SC dropped the ball and now it's followers/players are upset and paying the price.
Seems a bit contradictory here. Hire some more people but keep the game free. Man I'd love to see that trick pulled off.
If you want to really spend some time learning the history of the game from the eyes of the first players, go back and read some of the early posts. I went to my subscribed threads from before I turned it off and found a post from someone I know who played at the beginning. Then I clicked on his name and went to one of his earliest posts. From there you can usually find links within posts to go back even earlier. It was quite interesting. There was an update once that had over one hundred pages of posts with opinions of this update and this was before they allowed signatures in posts that take up space on the thread so the pages then had more posts on them than they do now. This thread was closed after Nick came and explained the reasons behind a particular change that we all take as normal now. This thread when on for many many pages.
Some of those folks still play but most do not. And the game and the company lives on. There will always be people who get mad and leave and there will always be new players. Life goes on. If it makes you so upset, then it's time to move on. If it is something you can live with, hang around. I guarantee you that things will change and people will either like it and stay or hate it and leave. But keep things in perspective and you will know what to do
Have fun. Life is too short to get upset over things you can not control.
After thinking about it I still feel supercell set the goal way too high. I dont care so much about the basket its the un attainable goal that i care about. I shouldn't have to tell my kid sister that all her work was for nothing. People are basically saying to tell her to 'get over it' and 'that's life' but you see the thing is its not real life its a game! and games are designed to be fun. The easter basket should have been a prize for those who completed their personal goals or at least a few of them...I mean the fact we didn't even come close to the goal proves supercell messed up the numbers big time. And to rub salt in the wounds if you click on the event board it says something like 'aww we didnt make it we'll show em' next time' and theres a picture of the basket saying 'missed reward'. The basket means nothing its a virtual easter decoration..what gets me is the fact supercell ruined this event for all of us by making the goal far too high and didn't even have the decency to apologise. I know that if another event like this comes up I wont have anything to do with it.
Sports are games and sports are fun. Yet in every sport there are winners and there are losers. Do you feel upset when your team or the team you support lose? Absolutely. Do you say it's unfair because you/your team work so hard yet still lose? No. Working hard improves your chance of winning, but it's not a guarantee. Also I think one thing ppl get it wrong is that only the final result matters. Did you or your little sister enjoy the process? I'm not sure but I sure do. Hay day is a relaxed game and only when an event like this goes on I feel a sense of urgency. The internal debate of whether to fill that boat or bake a few more cakes, the fulfillment of completing each "milestone" and get some rewards (though most of times I got crappy items), those are worth it. It's a pity to not get that easter basket, but I still had fun even when we lost.
Thanks all who offered to help me reach my personal goal. You are awesome!
(Time restraints made me break down and hire Tom, so I finished those, at least, and was able to throw a few more cakes in before the timer ran out.)
I, too, think the goal was set unreasonably high. Perhaps they didn't take into account the effect of the holiday.
This is the first time we haven't made it since the first event. People expected that we'd reach the goal, because we always do. So, maybe SC wanted to shake up that expectation. Or maybe it was actually an attempt to let more people win the prize; in previous events, people have been disappointed when they contributed items too late, after the global goal was reached. They got their personal rewards, but Alfred didn't bring them a package.
I don't really have a problem with not winning the prize, but having the goal so obviously out of reach (by Saturday it was clear we wouldn't make it) kind of took a lot of the fun out of it. A lot of people just gave up.
Live and learn. I think SC miscalculated and did not take into consideration for the long holiday, many players were gone 4 days.
They should have had this event the week before when most players would not be busy with family or traveling.
You win some you lose some, it is how you play the game. I was able to meet my goals, help several in NH and contribute extra. So I am satisfied (not happy), but I sincerely hope SC puts a plan in place to not do this again.
I am happy they gave out all vouchers this time. Well, I would mind getting a plank or 5, but last time I got 5 saws as my final prize. Boy, was that disappointing. Saws are about the last thing I need.
I wish they would hold these holiday events a week earlier. Not just because people are busy the actual holiday, but because holiday decorations are a lot better before the holiday than after. Valentine's Day was Friday, and the event to win the Miley Cupid statue started Thursday night. It would have been so much cooler to be able to display it the week before VD, rather than afterwards.
What is the fun/challenge if you win every time? It is just like giving every kid a trophy for participating in soccer and not for winning.
I am with you on the saws. ;-). But I wonder if the timing wasn't linked to the prize but to the time period of the contest. While I agree I'd prefer to display my decoration for the actual holiday, but maybe they thought that the excitement of the holiday would make more people play. I am trying to make some sense of it too. I don't know about the rest of you but Christmas decorations go up way earlier than Easter ones. So it seems that the whole country is celebrating Christmas for a long time (just talking about the USA. I don't know what other countries do). I finally put up my few puny Easter decorations Friday.
At any rate since the events are tied to the Thursday thru Monday time period (again, here in the Western Hemisphere) they would have had to do this event a whole week in advance to get close to the holiday. Maybe since we didn't make this one and have been so verbal about it, they will try to make other decoration themed events a little earlier. I personally liked the way they did Halloween this year by allowing us to catch that ghost in the fishing area to get Halloween decorations. That was cool!. Hey at least they didn't dress the chickens up in bunny costumes!
I understand how difficult it can be to see a child disappointed, and I do agree that SC set the goal too high. But I think what you're not seeing is that the vouchers were the rewards for meeting our personal goals. Disappointments are the results of unmet expectations and perhaps it is the expectations that you should clarify with your sister. Did she expect to get a basket for reaching her personal goals? Maybe it might be helpful if you explain to her clearly how the rewards work - that she will definitely get her personal rewards for meeting her personal goals, but that if the global goal isn't reached by us all together, then no one will get the global reward. Rather than join her in the cry of "it's not fair!", consider it a teachable moment.
Just a thought from someone whose childhood refrain of "it's not fair!" was inevitably met with my father's retort: "And when did I ever tell you that life would be fair?" Hate to admit it but he was (sometimes) right 😏 And yes, games are a part of life and a great learning tool for kids.
No need to be snide, if you read my comments closely I mentioned finding a happy medium. By this the Marketing group could be creative and develop packages of voucher and diamonds, or even have monthly subscription rate. But I fear as long as there are individuals with more money than sense there is no need for marketing to get any more creative than offering a random half price deal on diamonds. As for as quoting old posts, I have no doubt you have been here from the beginning, I don't understand what that is supposed to mean to me and I have no idea who this Nick person is, he means as much to me as Richard Garriot, Michael Morhaime or Gary Gygax means to you. And you have to understand I'm not disappointed that I didn't receive some over priced art work, I'm disappointed that there was a little girl who this seemed to meant a lot to, and to those that spent hard cash on trying to pick up the slack for others who were unable to assist. I think it would make more sense to design the event so players of every level could contribute even if I meant different items. If I'm going to spend money on pixel art it better have some water Lillie's, a starry night scape or some odd looking women with body parts at weird angles.

I know its a little off topic, but I loved the ghosts and their goodies at Holloween too! Wouldn't it have been great if there could have been hidden Easter eggs that popped up i the fishing area with treats exactly as the ghosts did? It would be like an Easter Egg hunt...😊 maybe next year..?.
Yes, somehow I thought they were going to go with easter eggs popping up in the fishing area (or maybe random parts of the farm), too. Sigh, maybe next time.

Honestly i was enjoying making the cakes..when there was a reward at the end of it. if i knew we wouldn't reach the goal would i have made all those cakes? hell no! This isn't a game of soccer that's the point stop telling me to get over it. I mostly play rts games which are very fast paced and competitive and if we lose we lose its because our team made mistakes. but hay day is suppose to be relaxing and enjoyable and this "event" was neither of those things. believe me i know i cant always win but in a game like this everyone should be a winner all the time. isn't that the the whole point? come and farm for a bit relax and you cant lose in this game because you play your own way. sorry for my english.
I agree that you cannot lose in a game like hay day. But this was a special event. There was no garuntee that we would collectively reach the goal, so perhaps that is the reason for the smaller personal goal prizes. No one is obligated to participate, but the more who do, the better our chances of winning the deco prize.
So obviously to you the ONLY thing worthful for an event is the final prize. Different perspective I guess. I enjoy the process as well as the personal goal prizes. The final prize is like cherry on top of the cake, but without the cherry the cake is still delicious. And I really cannot agree with the "everyone should be a winner all the time" part. By this logic, I wouldn't even contribute a single cake. I want the prize to be handed to me because I am part of "everyone" so I deserve to be a winner, right?
