Where can one find their opponents?

Is there a confirmed area in which a attacker can find an opponent? For example, were I to search for a match at exactly 2100 trophies, what are the least and the largest amounts of trophies my foes can have? I have seen that at least 200 trophies up and down is a possible distance but is there an official statement on this or has someone else found answers?

It all depends on your trophy level and how many players are at that level. If you're a top player, you'll most likely find people up to a thousand trophies below you, whilst mostly below 2500 trophies, you'll find people up to 230 trophies below and above you.
