After 82 levels and about $500 dollars spent on this game, I am through. These new wallbreakers have made it impossible to go for the walls I want them to go for. I have not won a single battle since the update and it really is just more stress then anything when going into battle. I used to think it was fun and easy to battle and now I want to smash my iPad every time I send the wallbreakers in and they just run off into a bunch of different directions to go after the targets THEY think are important. I know what target I want to go for and I could go for it with the old wallbreakers. I won't be back spending money on this game or even playing it until I hear something about the old wallbreakers. Peace out SuperCell and your garbage update that ruined a great game for me and many more.
IMO - this is exactly what "should" happen. It sounds as though you guys just want a super easy time getting to the center of any base.
I played for 16hrs straight yesterday, running 20 WB in every army comp and never experienced this. I place decoys, couple WB, finish off outside buildings, then WB in to next layer. Similar bases as pictured.
Maybe what is frustrating you is the new strategy part? It is clear the WB's are much better than before and still have base designs they "favor" as before. You just can't take 100% resources in 30 secs with 1/2 or less of your army. Is this the real problem.
There are so many repeats and I think if you would spend more time playing, less time complaining then you will learn the new AI as I have. Also, Junliang seems to have it mostly figured out, but I think the update, especially new WB AI is brilliant! Well done!
With the bad comes the good. I am a huge fan of the new update and I too have spent close to $500 on gems and have 4 members of my household playing along with me now.
People don't like learning curves, but even more they are lazy and want things for free. I deal with this with my employees all the time. And, I let them quit and find a better match. :)
Seriously give the new WBs a chance. I too was frustrated initially.
To say you never win a game using the new WBs is really too extreme.
I am also trying to figure out and used more troops than usual but I still managed to win battles.
There are a lot of useful info in this thread so read them up. I won't spill the beans for you.
If you are to lazy to read and learn, please give up the game.
:D Haha Thanks for the kinds word man, appreciate it :o
Yeah, I'm in favour of the new wb as well :)
Check out the "curve balls" that the new wall breaker can throw now, not to mention "homing target" capability haha ! ;) :p
Welcome.
Its the latter.
Here is a picture that should clear your doubt.
5 CM vs 6CM, thats why the wall breaker took the shorter path :)

@Marika
By the way, I think there might be a possible bug with the new wall breaker.
The most reasonable complain I have seen and made sense regarding the new wb is as illustrate in the diagram below.

I personally destroy all of the first layer before moving on, but I see their point.
If its true that those buildings at the first layer, that are not fully enclosed, is being able to attract the wall breaker, then i would say its an issue.
Care to share this with the development team ? :o
i just noticed if the top wall breaks off with a small opening, the rest of the wall breakers try to widen up the gap. so after the first one, the following two wall breakers would make the first gap wider, the fourth one follows the blue line to go for the inner wall even if the buildings aren't completely destroyed.
so with the new AI, 2 of the Wall breakers get wasted, with the new wall breakers occupying two housing units from the camps, this is very unacceptable. our troop size for a battle is very limited due to this. on top of that we also need to clear the buildings before we can proceed with the inner walls.
