AT in core?

Hello, was just looking at some different bases and guides. In nathannathan1232's base design guide it said trophy pushers can have their ATs in the core at 2600+ trophies. I also saw some people who push or are ready to with ATs in the core. I am not the best base designer. What is the function of having an AT in the core? Is it the increased range and decreased hp, or something entirely different? All feedback is appreciated.

Ah ok, thx. So i am guessing it is also kind of the range then because I think cannon and AT dps is the same, if not I think cannon might be a little higher.

Archer towers ahve a bigger range, and aince they do point-damage, they can hit tanky units like golems and such hard, that way GoWiPe raids are stopped easier, it also confuses the attacker (leaving him paralised :P)
