Nails?

Ok, so I'm new to the game, and if am currently speeding through levels as quick as possible! I am currently level 11, but am noticing a severe lack in nails, which I need desperately!! Am I doing something wrong? Or is there some advice you could give me?? Thanks!

Hi Jwaal,

My farm has a lack of nails, too. As far as I can tell, the game will give you one rare item (nails), one average item (?), and one common item. For me it's: Nails=Rare Screws=Average and Panels=Common.

Basically, you can't do much about this. The two things I do to find more of the rare items I need are 'wheating' (there's a thread somewhere on this) which is basically doing as many actions per minute as possible to increase chances of getting rare items (wheat being the fastest crop). 2ndly, I try to keep the ratio of my items in check because I think the game has a counter for hoarding items. For instance, if I had 10 panels, 5 screws, and 1 nail, I'd sell off all my panels and screws to the same number 1, 1, 1. This seems to help increase the odds of getting the rare item. There's no guarantee, but it seems to work for me. If you want, you can try it out and see if it helps.

There's also a rare item trading thread somewhere here on the forum, but I don't really use that.

Glad to hear I am not the only one, and I appreciate the advice and will try those options... Ironically I have almost 10 planks, and almost no nails! I actually just got the nails I needed for the silo, in one of those boxes that randomly appears for me!

I forgot to mention this, but I think the program is split between: barn, silo, and expansion items. I.e. planks, tape, and bolts don't effect screws, panels, and nails and vice versa. So don't sell off your planks to get more nails! This is just a hunch, though.

Another thing you can do is check the paper for the things you need, but you have to be fast and they can be extremely hard to find sometimes. The paper refreshes about every 5 minutes. Also, if you log out and back in the paper automatically changes if you want to check more often, but this is a bit of work.

Thanks so much! Tools in the newspaper seem to be a rarity, and I am only levl 12, so very little experience! Thanks for the congratulations!! Is it smart to speed through levels or am I missing something?

Hi & welcome! Sooner or later your level will not be able to support your resources. For example, you may run out of coin but have multiple machines & boats/mine to repair. Perhaps take it a bit slower, build up coin, barn size & silo size.

Also, great advice above- I'll add you may want to check out the trading thread to trade in your most available EM for your rarest (every farm is different).

New people tips You might like to have aloof at this thread as it explains much of the information you will want to know.

You need to watch how fast you level up. This is not a speed game. If uou level up too fast you will get behind on your machines and not have the products you need for the level you are at. You need to work more toward coins than leveling. Make all you can and sell it in you roadside shop

You think they're rare now. They get even rarer as you level up. Tools and expansion items are available from the beginning, so you tend to see a lot of them as a newbie. (Relatively speaking.) As you level up, more and more items are unlocked, and so you see fewer and fewer ads for tools. Just because you're seeing more and more ads for other things.

Plus, the number of each item you need to expand increases as the barn gets bigger, making it even harder.

If I were you, I wouldn't try to level up fast. Concentrate on earning coins...and expanding your barn and silo.
