Hi, this is a guide to the ingredients which are used in the products of Hay Day. I hope you find it interesting or useful!

Total: How many products this ingredient is used in.
Maximum Production /hr: How many of this ingredient can be produced per hour on 1 farm.
Maximum demand /hr: How many of this ingredient can be used in all production per hour on one farm.

I'll base maximum production of crops on a hypothetical average of 100 fields (I have 69). Trees will be based on a hypothetical average of 10 saws and 10 axes per day (I find about 15 of each on a good day). All maximum productions are based on using all available resources for one thing. I.e. you can't produce brown and white sugar maximum values at the same time or harvest two different kinds of trees with the same axes.

All item values are my opinion based on my current play style and level (44). I may update this information later. Just by taking note of sheer number of products used can give you a good clue as to the value of an item. Only items used as ingredients are listed.

Item value in this section is purely the 'usefulness' of the item and not how much money you'll make by producing it. For that kind of information, see this thread.

Summary and Thoughts

We can see clearly that the demand for all dairy and sugar products exceeds the possible supply. In some cases, such as white sugar, it far exceeds the supply!

This said, some of the information on this chart might be misleading. For instance, it's very rare that you'll be using 45 coffee beans per hour even though this is technically possible if you were to hoard enough sugar. Otherwise, your production of coffee would quickly be limited by cream and sugar. Likewise, it's very rare to be producing all of the products on all of the machines that use only one specific ingredient.

Isn't it odd that a relatively low value money wise item like wheat is soooooo necessary. I plant a lot of wheat but don't sell as much because of all the items that need it

Also based on my experience, lettuce should be listed as very valuable. Does anyone else think this. I know I find it one of those swoopable products. Love that word

I didn't comment on the value of any items I didn't have experience with yet, but due to your experienced judgement, I'd be glad to update anything above my level (44). I'll bump up Lettuce right away, and if you find anything else please feel free to point it out!

Ha ha, yes, it appears wheat is used in quite a few things continuing into the higher levels. I always wondered how I could sell off 500 wheat in half an hour without too much trouble. Currently, I produce far more wheat than I can possibly use, but this may change drastically at higher levels and I'll have to update things. :)

It's certainly valuable to me, lol. Unless my silo is full, I tend to buy it when I see it. I wasn't paying attention a couple of days ago and used all but 2 of my lettuce. Must. Stop. Doing. That.

I'd welcome any help with items beyond my level (which I left plain text, and I'd be glad to update the post with the information. Otherwise, it'll probably only be when I reach those levels which might still take a while. :)

Constructive suggestion:
For some reason I find it hard to read. Could you summarized in a table-like way? I know you can just use excel or Google spreadsheet to sort things and copy it here (much easier than dealing with forum table).

Okay so now we know all those values, how this info help us to decide what :confused:?

To considered a crop as valuable or not, I would look at which kind of products need them, how often these products can be produced compare to time to grow that crop, market trend on those product...things like that. For example, 45 rices can be used for 3 sushis. Someone else with 9 slot can use up to 225 rices at once. Rice is valuable for the 2nd person.

Because number of plot is limited, a player would consider buying long growing crop and plant short growing crop or vice versa and based on how s/he used those crops. Quite a complex procedure and change dynamically with event, new updates, new products..... Knowing that market is full of strawberry, I won't plant them. If everyone else switch to planting lettuce and rice, I might consider planting strawberry.

Just random thoughts how I adapt my play style to the market (newspaper and neighbors' shop) I see.

I think this is just to be used as a reference mainly. You can ignore any editorial as to what is or isn't valuable because as he said as you level up things change. The wiki is really good for telling you what is needed at each level but until you unlock the item, you might not know what items you need to make them. I remember when the sushi machine came out. Many folks were surprised that the egg sushi used brown sugar and the soy sauce used wheat. So as a simple reference this could be useful. Plus seeing in one place that indigo is only used on two products might help someone decide what their stock level of that item should be. I was keeping 50 plus of everything in my silo but I might just change that .

I am sure this is a work in progress and I know the OP is open to suggestions. If it turns out to help someone and remains accurate, I am game.

Donna. I find I end up using all my lettuce in that blasted smoothie machine. I keep forgetting it want lettuce. So glad I don't have to taste what I make.

Agree with the lettuce, always seem to be running low on it and it is in a number of things.

Hmm, I actually dont understand what the 'total' is for. Some ppl make several of the same item, while others may skip some easy-to-find items. So the value is kinda meaning less to me.

Also, donkeys and bunnies ate carrots too.

Total is the total number needed to make one of each item that uses that item. For instance indigo is used in just two items and rice is used in three, but in order to make one blue sweater and one blue hat you need three. And in order to make all three sushi's you need 45 rice. Not sure how valuable that number is because when you open the sushi machine, you only get one product to make so if you want to be prepared to make sushi, you need to know each item takes 15. But since each product in many machines takes a different number of items, again I am not sure how much value the total number is other than for comparison.

For instance my daughter likes to keep her feed numbers in multiples of three. So when she gets to making sushi, she will probably keep her rice in multiples of 15 and her indigo in multiples of three so she can make one of each item.

I know what total means, but not the meaning/value behind it. for instance, whether you count bacons and eggs in bacons & eggs is a good factor. Some crops and some items are just so common, and some are lots rare, you simply cant put them in a 1:1 ratio talk. the production times arent the same either.
