Many questions for trophy hunters

I'm about 10 days into TH 8 and figure I'm going to be here for awhile, once I get my defenses upgraded, I want to push for trophies, but was wondering how ou all go about it?

1. do you attack any base that pops up
2. do you only attack bases where you get a lot of trophies
3. do you go for the easy 3-stars or do you go for challenging bases to test your skills
4. is elixir something you care about (as I assume you're building expensive armies)
5. do you go for resources and the 3-star?
6. how come you all aren't considered farmers as well? it seem you'd need strong defenses to keep your trophy count up, do you max your defenses or just rely on a well laid out base or the fact that a lot of people just want to farm

7. what's a good hybrid army for a th 8 who still has max level 7 troops, and level one hogs/minions?

this is from personal experience...

1. do you attack an base that pops up
no, you must strategically pick the bases you attack...based on their defensive strength, their layout and the level and composition of your troops
2. do you only attack bases where you get a lot of trophies
I would aim for any weak bases that reward you with 25+ trophies...anything less and you're wasting your time and resources
3. do you go for the easy 3-stars or do you go for challenging bases to test your skills
if your main focus is trophies pushing then I wouldn't spend any time on base that could give you possible trophy losses
4. is elixir something you care about (as I assume you're building expensive armies)
if you have nothing else to spend it on, then by all means, spend it on troops...not keeping a lot of elixir in storages keep farmers out of your base
5. do you go for resources and the 3-star?
if resources are low, you will of absolutely have to look for double rewarding bases (loot + trophies)

farmers mean not protecting your town hall...it's a good strategy because if someone knocks off your TH, you get a 12 hour shield and don't lose a lot of trophies in the process
