Cost of losing CW will mean only elites will play it soon
I think SC have done a really great job with the CW, but I think the implementation is flawed with big consequences. The reward for winning is ok - nothing special but more than covers costs, certainly once you include gold. But the loser gets almost nothing. I think the result of this will be that very quickly CW becomes only played by a minority of elite clans, because for everyone else it will be too expensive.
The first two wars my clan won, was great. We were playing against 'average' clans, that only used about 2/3rds of their attacks, and had some less than brilliant bases. The current war is against a really good clan though - all active and all have well laid out bases. I think pretty quickly the average clans are going to disappear from the CW because they lose too many fights and so resources. And once a few start going its snowballs, as that means less average clans in the matchmaker, and less chance for remaining average clans to fight a team they can beat.
Needs one of two solutions to save it I think - either better payback for the losing team (would be really nice if everyone got their costs returned at least, so everyone fielded the best army they could), and/or league tables (which is what I expect will come) which give lower clans a chance. Problem with league tables is it will take a long time for them to settle into a ranking that reflects clans abilities, and time isn't really something that casual games have on their side - clans can rise and fall pretty quickly but leagues take weeks or months!
Edit: another option is a matchmaker that takes previous record into account, so clans that lose get other clans that lose. This punishes good clans though by making them play harder teams. Still think the best solution is better rewards. Loser should get their costs back, winner gets costs back plus bonus.
