TH level DOES matter in clan wars.

After a couple of clan wars, I have come to the conclusion that TH level DOES matter. The main reason is just for the sheer volume of defenses you can get. I don't care if you are a preemie TH 10 you still can have up to 2 IT's AND 3 Xbows. Even at level one they can do considerable damage to troops... even if you have low level walls... which leads me to point 2.

Matchmaking bases on walls is pretty irrelevant. I have seen so many balloon, dragon and hog attacks that using walls as some determiner of the matchmaking process is kind of irrelevant.

All of this is just my .02 so far from what I have seen.

Which side would you rather be on... 10 level 10 TH with level 10/11 walls or 25 level 10 th with a bunch of pink/purple walls??

I am sure they will tweak the matchmaking process at some point once SC collect all the data from clan wars but I think the level of your TH should some how be incorporated into the equation.

Agreed it does matter.. But... I'll be looking forward to the match when our clan is the one with more th9s. The matches can still feel pretty even if theirs outnumber ours though. Our last match finished 96-97 ( we lost :\ ). They had 6 more th9s than we had, but we also had 2 th10s while they only had one. Didn't stop one of our th10s from being 2starred though.

Correct, town hall level does matter.

Overall, I agree with your thoughts here. I think the importance of walls should be tweaked (read: adjusted down). In my first clan battle, my TH9 base was the top ranked base in our clan, over some of our Th10s. Yet the top bases from the opposing clans were all TH10s with upgraded infernos, 3 xbows, but lower level walls. The best I could hope for was a two star while they had a pretty good chance of three starring me. Our bases were not evenly matched. I think the reason for this is the importance of wall level in the match making formula is overstated. Just a small tweak is needed to adjust up the importance of TH level and decrease the importance of wall level in the matchmaking process.

TH is accounted for indirectly in clan wars matchmaking by taking into account the total number of defenses etc.

In my clan I was ranked as the fourth strongest base as a nearly maxed TH9, the 3 guys ahead of me all had much lower wall levels, lower levels on all defenses, lower hero levels, but have two inferno towers and 3 x-bows each.

Personally I feel that the matching is pretty decent as far as the weighting of the different factors as it is.

I see your point, but I understand the formula is intended to work on the level of the defences. So on average a TH10 bases has stronger defences that a lower TH, so in effect TH is incorporated albeit indirectly.

With regard to premmie TH10s with ITs and low level defences, this just a matter of how highly they rate the IT relative to a particular lvl of mortar/WT etc.

SC accept that matchmaking may need to be tweaked in future, but this is something that will come out in their data.

This right here... I'm a close to maxed th 9 and they matched me up with a premature th 10 that had lvl 1 infernos. His defenses were pretty low but the point is that his infernos must have been rated high for us to be matched up. The pairing was definitely fair overall but if his raiding skills were included in the rating maybe not so much. ;)

The only thing is that th 9's have pretty much no tools to use against infernos. No freeze and hogs are useless.

The premature players have an advantage in defence but its still easy to beat them if you plan it right. Also so far ive found out the premature players on the opposition teams don't have a clue what they are doing in attack so I guess it evens out in the end I guess!

Ha ha, exactly. I was so nervous I thought the premature th 10 was gunning for me then he failed to 1 star one of our mediocre th 8's. So great.

On the whole the average TH10 is rated higher than the average TH9. Why? because the formula works on base strength and a higher TH generally has higher defences than a TH9.

Th level is a reasonable indicator of the strength even if it does not feature in the matchmaking directly.
