my clan does clan wars just for fun, we're still casual
Even if you are a casual clan I would recommend doing clan wars at the very least for the achievements. If if you never win a clan war you can personally accumulate stars which will translate into gems, some of the best gem bonuses in the achievement list.
Why would you keep inactive members to begin with?
always war, always have a trophy base.
We were a very casual but high donating farming clan. Our active th10s(only 3) are moderately advanced....purple walls, but near max defenses and mostly maxed troops, or getting there.
The bulk of us were farmers maxing each level.
Now, we haven't given up farming, but it looks like we will have war then 2 farming days, then war.
We kicked two inactive th10s and brought up some guys from our feeder clan.
Our first war was epic and made the clan more active than ever.
Every one is working on improving our attack strategies. We have been farming so long some members tried out mass hogs or GoWiPe for the very first time, with the expected failures.
We suspect we may kick a few more...... We are now warring farmers. Our th7s are all going to push to th8 ASAP and our th8s are going to jump to th9 rather than max every wall and every cannon.
Clan Wars definitely changed our clan forever.
our clan has the same issue. we have around 5-7 people who do not attack in wars. We are just gonna cut them and downsize. IT is sad though because a lot of them have been members for a long time :/
We have a clan of 18 members. About 10 really solid guys. We're also at a fork in the road. We're interested in merging with a clan who is in the same boat as us and looking to improve. Check us out - 3-Star Generals.
Should just be an OPT IN WAR button. That way clan stays together. They support their warriors and stay home in the village farming .
Im a co- leader and we are seeing the same issues as already posted. We have lost good players and others who stepped out of the clan so they wouldn't hold us back during a war, as they didnt have time to participate or are away with their jobs atm. PLS address this supercell .
This is a very good point... many clans have a real mix of people, with different styles and things they enjoy, who have been quite happy for months if not over a year, hanging out together in the same clan. Some have been hanging out / wishing for Clan Wars for months if not over a year. Some are just happy being casual players, on and off occasionally, certainly not on every day, and are not overly competitive. Clan Wars is definitely shaking things up.
For example, of the three clans I have a base in: One has seen the leader kicking everyone out who is not donating much, as well as people who did not attack once in the last war, even though the clan won their first war by a large margin. That seems over the top, to me. One had a lot of trophy pushers in it already, so seems pretty into Clan Wars so far (although they managed to lose their first war, and probably their second, so it will be interesting to see where it goes). The other clan is the most mixed, with some very long-term members, it's like a big family; we had a clean-out of the truly inactives before our first war, but with 45+ members of all types you just can't expect everyone to participate in the same way. We got cleaned out in our first war, then went straight into a second one with a better strategy, which last I saw was very close a couple of hours before the end. But I can't imagine our family waging endless wars every 2 days, it will get quite stale for too many, and cause friction. There was already a split in the clan about a year ago (before my time), where IIRC trophy hunters split off and formed their own clan, which then struggled to keep momentum. I'd hate to see Clan Wars cause a similar split, but it certainly has that potential, which would be a real shame.
Personally, I don't have a huge amount of work left to do on my TH10 that I feel highly motivated to do (just all the 5-8 million ones lol), so Clan Wars is another good way to have a little bit of fun, spending elixer and DE instead of stressing trying to max my base. My base is already good enough to put off most attackers, in regular play as well as clan wars, so what's the point in making it even better? But I can see plenty of others who will, over time, be starting to wonder why they spend so much time and resources on clan wars, instead of working to improve their base in a different manner.
I guess the solution depends on your clan, but for many I think it will be getting the balance right, e.g. a weekly war for fun, no stress.
