Where to spend my coins next?

Hi everyone, I am currently at level 36 and at 42000 coins. I've got all of my farm animals, the neighbors house, and my next big production item purchase will be the jam maker. I have three more smelters to buy to complete my set, and there's the net maker that needs to be repaired. It takes quite a while for me to go from 0 to the next goal amount, so what would be the best item to buy next?

The reason I ask is because I know certain items naturally get more use due to factors like production time and demand and ease of finding ingredients. I remember that I regretted renovating my mine before fixing my fishing boat because the boat was more immediately useful.

Speaking of fishing, I have three fishing spots and three spots in the bait making machine available so far. Is it worth spending my expansion materials on opening more fishing spots rather than on my farm?

It also occurred to me that the best use for diamonds seems to be in opening spots in the queues for your machines! Am I right or not? Can't believe I just figured this out! I'd been using them rather mindlessly (lol hay day loves a player like me, I'm sure!), spending them on Tom or on the wheel of fortune, which I would spend on the increments needed to spin again, up to 3 to 4 times a day! Since I discovered the advantages of opening up more slots, I've stopped using Tom, and it seems to me the game became a lot easier and my farm runs more smoothly! I think the difference was because it mitigated much of the tedium that came with waiting for goods to be ready, so I could reload the machine. Lol.

If you are comfortable to get fish without net, you don't need Net maker till level 44 (lobster pool).
If you don't aim to produce tons of metal bars per day, you don't need to buy ALL smelter now.

im almost level 56 and have just four fishing areas open and all my farm areas open. I wish I'd spent more time opening my fishing areas earlier!

yes, you're right, diamonds are best used on opening slots rather than the wheel of fortune.
that said, using diamonds to use tom has it's advantages if you use him wisely. If it's coins you need, using tom to fetch you diamond rings and then selling the rings off is a real money maker! Personally though if you can't spare the diamonds, using them for slots which in turn means you can sell more is a great way to make coins and is the advice given regularly - to make coins, stop doing boat and truck orders and sell everything in your shop.

Jam maker. Been using mine 24/7 since I bought, and boats and trucks are gluttons for jam. And they sell on rss top price and fast. Metal only gets u vouchers from trucks. Even with all five smelters, can't keep jeweler busy. Nets not needed until lobsters as mentioned

Wow, you mean those truck orders for metals don't pay in coins? I could've sworn they do, just like the rest.

Thanks for the tip on the fishing spots. I'll be sure to focus on them before working on my land!

I'm not even close to making jewelry yet so no need to pile up on the smelter yet for sure.

Thanks for the link. Yes I make most of my money from truck and boat orders, and somewhat less from the little people, and seldom the RSS. I find selling on the RSS a little stressful because I don't like having to price things! Having to decide what price is fair for the buyers and myself, I'm not good at that sort of thing.

Are there people who struggle with fishing with the pole? It's so easy!

I am level 45 and i only have 3 smelters and that is plenty! I would get the jam maker all the truck orders ask for them but i do love my nets. It just depends on you.

I just read the "coins" thread and am blown away that the reason that my things were not selling in my RSS because I wasn't refreshing the ads every 5 minutes. I didn't know you were supposed to do this! I've been playing close to two years and this is the first time I found this out. I didn't understand why my things weren't going even though I always slash 20% from the max price on all of my items. Can you tell me which item I am supposed to refresh if I have multiple items for sale in my stand?

If I don't refresh every five minutes, the only time people will come to my store is when I put something else up for sale ... is that true?

Although... things aren't going THAT much faster but there is a marked improvement in how fast my things are selling now.

PS - So THAT'S why there are people selling 10 wheat for $1!!!! It's to lure people to their shop isn't it??? *mind blown*

I forgot to ask ... which machine should I focus on maxing out on all the slots available? I have found that opening the slots for the bakery, the sugar mill, and the dairy to have made the most difference. So maybe I should use my diamonds on them first before I work on the other machines?

The sugar mill, ice cream, dairy maker and lure maker Are the ones i opened up the most slots on. :)

By the way do you know why it is that i never have to refresh an ad in the RSS for expansion materials? Like just now, I put wooden boards up for sale, and the next free ad is still two minutes away, and yet someone comes and buys the boards before I have a chance to refresh the ad on them! I do have two other items in my rss for which there are ads running. Am I to assume this buyer came to my stall by way of seeing my other ad for the other item?

Yes, they probably came via another ad, unless they are your friends or followers. Expansion materials are all RARE for someone, even the ones you get lots of will be rare for a lot of other people, so will be snapped up. Sell them at max price. People who need them, or have a friend who needs them, will happily pay full price.

Wow I'm reading this today at level 36 and I feel the exact same as you lol I never know what is best to buy. I've also bee squandering my diamonds up until recently and only just realised I can open new slots in my machines and res lol I'm an idiot anyway I'd say jam maker the mine is useless without the jewellers. I made the mistake of paying for net fishing too soon. I only have 3 fishing spots so I actually get more from friendsshiny with lures..although it is good if I know I won't be playing for a while.

At higher levels the regular consensus is to max out the slots on both dairy and sugar. After this you would like to expand if not max the slots on the feeder mills.

As for the other machines each have their pro-s and cons and can be divided into three categories. For instance many people like to have an added cue line to compose products for like 8 hrs (overnighting).

1. This can be easily obtained by factoring the *long to make items*. Lets take the cake oven as an example. If one were to make cheesecakes overnight 3 or perhaps 4 would be sufficient. On the other hand you could decide to make products like the redberry cake which takes significantly shorter to make so the slots required to keep the oven running overnight would be higher.

2. The lure and netmaker are a different story all together. Both have way higher diamond costs to expand even at the beginning so even though the desired overnighting can be obtained, it would cost so many diamonds that perhaps you would wish to reconsider expanding them a lot.

3. Lastly there are machines that *absolutely* require another machine to run. For instance the sushi maker (unlocked at an higher level than you currently are) has an soy sauce requirement on all currently available products. Factor in the sauce maker taking 3 hrs to complete 1 soy sauce and the sushi bar taking 2 hrs on the longest product it becomes impossible to permanently keep the sushi running no matter how many slots you have on either machine. Although soy sauce can be bought/traded I at least have little luck of randomly finding it in shops :P. Thus even in the scenario you decide to completely ignore all other sauce and purely make soy sauce you cant keep up.
This same problem arises for the jeweler since even when you have 5 smelters the bars simply cant keep up with the jewelers demand to reforge them.
I would like to add the coffeemaker to this group as well. Even though it is possible to either use the dairy, or the dairy and sugarmill together it is possible to keep it running 24/7, it would tie down so many sugar/dairy time you hardly have any left to produce anything else that contains these items.
Slots on these machines should have very minor priority :).

To summarise, depending on your favourites to make some cues can be short or long, some are very expensive to expand and some cues are on some scale irrelevant.
