clan wars is taking the fun out of this game

On the other hand one of the reasons people were asking for clanwars was that it would bring unity and activity. If members can op out of the wars then that kind of negates the original goal.

Justlike previously we have had farming clans, pushing cland and hybrid clans we will just add those active war clans and clans that never go to war. Personally I am soon ready to enter a war clan that would be at war basicly all the time. I hVe no desire to stay in Champion league ( when I make it the one time it will be enough ) nor am I really interested in maxing my base totally. What I have really left are the achievements and war raids are the most exiting moments on my coc-career.

Just like pushing. If a few can't/ won't push then they need to go and find a parking lot clan....
loyalty is a two way street. If you can't/won't step up a replacement will.
if the loot offered doesn't entice you, the biggest coc update doesn't entice you, nothing will.
darwinism for a clan is good. There are millions of clashers

We could always develop a peaceful clan culture...
People who don't want clan wars can just group together and not go to a clan war...

Good idea actually! While my clan had our fair share of fun for the first two wars. We are also thinking of doing it once a week in future becoz it can get quite intensive during war day (especially during weekdays where majority have to work, school etc) and also once a week gives it a bit more importance and something to look forward to (and hopefully clannies will put in more effort and participation in war).

Of course i would rather SC only allow all clans to press that war button once a week so that all clans actually have fairer number of participations & victories - but matchmaking might be a big problem if that happens.

2 wars on war day really truly is not anything hard at all. its 10 minutes time. if ur clan decides to war even less often, it can come out to maybe 6 attacks in 2 week period. that's the most inactive I can think of that is still considered playing.

There will eventually two types of clans one that farms and casually gets loot and make better bases, and then there will be the aggressive players that form a clan with the intention to dominate clan wars making huge expensive armys

No, more like people like me who didn't care that much about clan wars didn't talk about it at all a month ago. Once the details started to come out, we realized it could be problematic for our clans as implemented and started to talk about some of the issues. Now that it's out, it's causing exactly the problems in my clan that I predicted.

Frankly, the people who are saying "what's the big deal it's only 2 days" or "so what, make a new clan" or "don't go to war then" just don't get it. Not everyone is like you, and just because the aren't doesn't mean they "suck" or "are stupid" or whatever. One of the major rules of game design is that you don't alienate part of your user base by suddenly forcing them to do things they don't want to do. Considering how easy it would have been to implement an opt-in/out option when war was declared, this was a major oversight by supercell. And yes, it would have been easy. I'm not normally one to talk about credentials, especially considering the anonymous nature of the internet, but I was a game designer at EA for 5 1/2 years, so yeah, I kind of know what I'm talking about.

EDIT: I should add that I'm the leader of my clan and my co-leaders are trusted, so having someone randomly start wars is not our issue. It's straight up related to the fact that some members are gung ho about it while others aren't.

I don't think so. War is optional. Though I agree that there should be a cool down after a war.

Not individuals, but give leaders the ability to opt their entire clan out of the war. Belief in the leader is belief in the clan.

However, I can see what you're getting at. Despite SC's claim that clan wars will be a 'casual addition to gameplay', players are virtually forced into participating in them because there is no opt out.
