Clan Wars: Can Leaders and/or Co-Leaders Choose the Participants Please!?

Hi guys,

Hope everybody is enjoying the Clan Wars!

It seems there are so many questions and requests regarding the CW and I am about to add one more on that pile. I am wondering your thoughts on allowing Leaders/Co-Leaders to choose who to join the CW! Even members can be allowed to decide whether they want to take part in the next CW or not! I am sure some clans had few leavers after they signed up to CW or their members didn't want to take part in CW and delivered no attacks/ produced no star(a) in CW or left their TH outside for an easy star for the opponent clan! Or etc.


What do you think guys?

Yes to both. I think leaders/co should be able to decide. Saves people who haven't been on in a day who won't get to attack during the war but clearly will be attacked, especially if matched to an extremely active clan.

And yes... everyone in the clan should get the option to decide if they wish to partake or not.

But leaving your TH outside on purpose? That ain't cool!!!

Its really nice to hear from you :)

Im not sure if you were in the clan when we had these CW issues, but it seems there's a need for this option for both clan members and the management part of their teams.

The system should be simple that first members press the join/skip CW button and then the leader/co-leaders pick who they wish to join the CW from the group of members who want to join CW. I don't know if it's possible to put such system in place, as I'm sure SC must have anticipated these sort of problems whilst working on the CW. Perhaps it's not possible or too complicated for SC to implement this?

I agree with both great suggestions. First the member can choose to opt out, and the clan leader can bar anyone from cw. This will avoid having to kick people who are away temporary as well as allow people a chance to take a personal breather without being a liability.

Agreed. Leaders and Co-Leaders should be able to choose who can participate, AND out of those the leader/co-leaders have chosen, the members themselves decide about their own participation. That way no one takes misplaced blame for unrealized attacks or whatnot, because it's the members who ultimately decide if they participate, i.e. take responsibility.

My idea its all about time. Just like match making does now, inactive players are removed from eligibility. If any player on the roster has not been active in X amount of time, they are not given a spot in the war, just as they do not get matched normally.

Then for those that pass the first test, award spots on the roster based on activity. Make the least active players the ones to sit out. So if player Bob plays once a week but player Sue plays daily, Sue gets a spot over Bob. This way we ensure the most likely people to participate get into the war.

In my clan I have some inactive players that are good friends. They pop in once a week or every other week but don't really play. Prior to clan wars we never thought about asking them to leave but now it is vital to have every player in the war active.

I think my idea would remove the ability to have leaders stack the deck and make things the most fair.

Why don't they kick te inactives out? It seems this might cause anger and some ppl will be kicked from war even if they are active or a coleader might abuse it

I think this is what should happen:

1. Clan wars should be limited to 20 people per clan, all of which are chosen by the leader. If someone doesn't want to participate they can hit the sword symbol by their name off/on in the clan list. This is for two reasons:
*It promotes activity, loyalty, generosity, and competition in clans, and
*It makes it easier to find opponents, since everyone will have the same amount of participants.

2. Leaders should be able to set a donation minimum for clan wars, similar to how they set a trophy limit to join their clan. i.e., you don't donate 500 troops at least, you aren't even eligible for being chosen.

3. Similar to invites, GC friends should be able to go to war with each other (as long as they are both leaders/co-leaders in their clans).

4. Their should be a one day minimum cooldown for clan wars. During this day, the 20 people should be chosen for the next war. The selected players should be allowed to vote whether or not the clan participates in the next clan wars (a "yes" and "no" button).

I think all these ideas would make clan wars not.

Your logic is flawed. In a clan, everyone is roughly the same skill level. If you are "weak" then you never belonged in that clan to begin with. Plus, there a plenty of low level player clans that could go to war with each other. You just need to find them.

This is a good idea OP. Would the leaders choos before starting the search? Just wondering because what if you were in a 40 vs 40 war but one clan chose 35 people to fight and the other chose 30? It would be uneven right there.

While I support some of the suggestions, I feel that this is getting a little too complicated for a mobile game. :cool:

I like members deciding if we want to be in clan wars or not. If clan leaders and co leaders get to choose then there would be many complaints.

I too agreed to this. However, there is just one slight problem i feel uncomfortable with.

As clearly shown above, there are no 14 vs 14 or 47 vs 47. Therefore selecting players will always be in 'fives', leaving other eager/chosen players non-eligible? If implemented, increase in match-making wait period will significantly rise due to multiple team siizes compared to just 9 possible team size selection.

What the heck kind of statement is this?! Why in the world would everyone in the clan be the same skill level? Are you simply stating that your clan is and therefor that is the norm? I'm sorry to say but you are the one with the flawed logic on this one. The whole Vulcan population cringes at your statement.

My clan has everything from a maxed out TH10 all the way to people just starting out their TH5 (and myself a maxed TH9 one week from TH10). We have a great mix of people and I love the clan dynamics this way. The lower people get help from the higher people and we have a wide variety of to add to the dynamics of the game... especially to add to CW. I am so grateful that I had a clan with higher players when I first started or I wouldn't have been able to learn or progress as fast as I did. I love my clan and have been with them since day one over 13 months ago and am now leader. We are tight knit family and get along great. Look at our donate stats. Why would I want another clan just to be with all max level players?

Our first two matches have been very different but we have loved both. Lots of people on the opposing clan to match up to the various skills of those in our clan. Again, our newer players get good tips on how to war and they get our maxed troops in their CC. Perfect. In return our higher players can focus on the opposing higher players while the lower to mid levels do their thing. Perfect.

Two comments:
1. I'm not in a clan. Still wanna argue that I believe my clan is the norm?
2. I am fully aware of mixed level clans. I've been in quite a few and actually prefer that kind of clan set up.

However, the whole point of those kind of clans is growth and development. While it could be fun at first for some players, "weaker" players will feel the burden of trying to pull out wins and clan wars will become not fun. Adam set up this thread exactly for your kind of clan style: the choosing would be meant to have players who want to participate be able to and those that don't not.

You call your clan tight-knit yet you don't even consider how much of a burden you're putting on the newer players. Therefore, I still believe that lower leveled players do not belong in clan wars with higher leveled players, unless it is your intention to impede their progress. And don't give me the "how am I impeding their progress?" BC; you should know that a full out clan wars attack takes hours out of valuable raiding time, and doesn't do anything for teaching players how to play the game more efficiently or with more fun.

well I think that players should be able to decide if they want to participate or not but also let the leaders and co's to make there own drafts of who they want. Also I want the option of clearing my war base clan castle...

I honestly don't even get why you are dragging this out. If you feel like one-upping people on a mobile game's fan forums is fun, then more power to you. Just don't go around ruining other people's times by acting like a d-head.

On topic, I feel like the entire clan should be able to decide whether or not to participate, as well as who participates.

It seems we are "slightly" off the topic, guys :)

Anyone has a better suggestion? Or at least, please could the clashers, who believe that the current system works fine, can let us know how they over come the quitting issue (after signing up with CW) and other issues?

We should be able to pick the team.

opt out of next war button if you know you will be unavailable. leaders shouldnt be able to pick who in war. its a clan war so if there are clan members they dont want in the war why are they in the clan

i just logged in to raise exactly the same request and very happy to see this issue already voiced! This issue is global and is creating real issues in clans. We are a social gaming clan and some members are sporadic players but being social we dont kick them because that's just antisocial behaviour yet those players take up spots on the war team where active players do want to participate. SC has created this issue, where clans are now looking for new solutions, kick people out, start feeder clans, none of it fits the social gaming environment that was initially created in clash of clans. Cmon SC you have to agree that competitive gamers and social gamers need to have a way to coexist and the only common sense approach to this is to allow leaders and co leaders select the war members, and also agree to allow the players themselves to turn off their war feature . If a war gamer goes away for a week, he should be able to manage this himself for his own village so he doesn't wreck it for his mates. Leaders and co leaders need to have the final say however before declaring war ... Put your best foot forward SC and help us out of this mess you have created....

This isn't working SC. You have messed up what was a good social gaming environment. Our non regular members now feel they need to leave the clan just because they consume a war seat that another member may miss out on cos they are too low ranked...

if you guys don't fix this soon, I can see our clan wont survive and our current great gaming experience will end.
This is your fault, and it's your job to fix it. The OP addresses the issue perfectly, it's up to you now to do the right thing.

there SHOULD be an update, so every member can choose, if they want fight in Clan Wars or not ... we have really problems to win, because of inactive members and we could not kick every member, who is inactive for a few days

I hear you gr00ve, we have good members now dropping out of coc, both clan and the game altogether so that our clan has a better chance in wars. This sux bigtime , when will this madness end??? when!!!!????

Since there is no means of opting players out of the war, my clan is discussing kicking inactive/new/weaker players just prior to a war and take advantage of the cooldown. We'll leave a message asking for them to return in 30 mins so we can matchmake just with our active members. Not much choice without being able to select participants. Exposed TH's, unused attacks become a severe disadvantage in a close war...

The issue is clearly that SC have created an issue for us and we are having to find ways to resolve it, and kicking players, especially for us in a closed and social clan is the worst option possible. This is SC's issue to fix, and until they do, they will lose community players.

78% of the poll says it needs to be fixed.... Hate to see 78% of all coc players quit the game...

I said this before, why not just use elders, coleaders and leaders. If you want to stay out of a war then just be demoted to member you still get to stay in the clan and be reinstated after the war. This would just be a temp fix untill they could come up with somthing better.

I think it's patently unfair that our lowest members have not gotten to participate in our 3 wars so far. And the way the system is set up, they may never get to go to war with the rest of us. This will lead to either 1) fighting to get out of the bottom ranks by whatever means necessary, or 2) leaving the clan to join another where they aren't quite as low (thus pushng someone else in that clan lower) or forming their own clan.

i read in another thread about each player volunteering to war during preparation, and not going out to search for a clan to battle until end of prep. That's also not a bad way as the last 24 hours is still heaps to scout and war....

i am am up for anything, just something which is better than this nothing....

I support this idea.

My suggestion is -
Clan Leader( or Co-leader) can select members who will take part or be eligible for war. Currently automatically system selects/decides based on one's trophy count (which is not actual strength of that member) of top members list, falls in multiple of 5. Instead, keeping existing search option as default, add an option to deselect or select members who will be part of the clan war before starting for searching an opponent for clan war.

We are really facing difficulty to kick people out from our clan just because of this issue. Please do implement this. Hope by this change all clan leaders will be beneficial.

Personally I think that a leaders powers should not be too excessive. I don't agree that they should be able to choose who is allowed to take part in a war. I think a better solution would be to have an option where you can mark yourself as "unavailable" so that you are not included in the war when a war search is initiated. If people don't mark themselves as unavailable but still don't fight in wars then it would be more justifiable to kick them

What could happen is that the leader may think a TH5 or a TH6 base is too stupid to be allowed into a CW.
Then no TH5 or below base would be in epic clan wars.
How can we stop that from happnening?

There could be a limit of 4-5 opt outs or 1 out out per 10 people. There isn't too much stopping the leader from kicking the TH5/6 already in the first place and the TH5/6 could join a clan that better fits his level (though there will be no more lv5+ donations). Besides, if the person's base is stupid and doesn't try to fix it, I see no problem with remove the guy (either through opt or kick)

Ya this is a good idea as this helps to stop players who are actually active but do not take active part in clan wars.

I agree with both ideas.

I'm in the situation now where I have players with rushed THs that I don't want skewing the war search and I've had players that have had to leave for several days who should be able to exclude themselves.

This would be a great tool for Clan Leaders.

To some of the posts worrying about being excluded unnecessarily from wars; if that happens go to another clan. There are literally thousands of them :-)

This request is so common and Supercell seems to be ignoring it...

My Leader and I have been talking about this for a while now up to the point where he has sent several emails to clash. We also suggested some sort of penalisation for people who were in the war but did not attack. Maybe a 2 war ban.

pls make it real for the next update Supercell, we really" need this kind of feature, so when the other member want to farm and dun wan to participate, we dont need to kick them before the other member want to start the clan war search again..:(

Yes this feature definitely needs to be added, so sick and tired of having to keep kicking and inviting some of our lower members in the clan for Clan Wars, also in order to help people who are on holidays or can't play Clash of Clans for whatever reason for a while, they should be able to select that they do not want to be part of CW's so simply they can stay in the clan, without having to worry about being inactive in War! :)

Great Idea, been around for a while, and Supercell needs to respond to this Request (If it can't be applied, I also want to know why) :p
