This is certainly not only the best idea I have seen so far but also the best thread. Holy Moly, you must have spent days creating this amazing thread. I salute you!

The lock-in button solution I see not the best because of these points.
- A player has to dedicate one layout to be his/her clan wars war base layout. That layout serves an unique purpose, is likely not useful as a trophy base, yet is only worth of a slot among the other designs. I think even supercell noted this, that they wanted to differentiate the clan wars war base design more - not just let it be among the other junk, to be accessed from the same window, and to be enabled with some special button. This point is a bit hard to explain properly, but it is the most important.
- If a player wants to change his/her warbase design, the actions to do that are different than with changing the normal game layout. The actions and what follows from pressing save/use village button for war base should definitely be the same. After saving the war base design, as is normally, I would like to stare at the design without the editor, and see for mistakes.... etc.
- Depending on implementation, if you think of a player doing a small change to his/her war base layout, the number of clicks required can be too many more than doing the same normally.
- It cannot be expanded so easily if you are thinking of what new content/features can be added in future.
Thanks so much all of you, and Wayne you are definitely too kind :) Appreciate the love and support! Clashing Joe, took 2 days hehe.
Thanks for your comment sirhubrid and for writing your criticisms in a thoughtful and mature way!
1. Fair suggestion, although the reason I made it that way is because it was a suggestion in the original thread and SC stated they like the idea a lot and might make it that way. Plus most have 4 builders or more. The ones who have less probably don't need 4 Layout slots ;) It's more incentive to purchase gems or do the achievements and is a win-win for both SC and us.
2. Have a few questions about your number 2. You say there aren't a lot of people that have the same TH in the same clan? Even the most diverse clans usually are between TH5 and 10, meaning 6 different TH's. Certainly if someone shared a Layout, someone else in the clan could use it most definitely.
As for your second part of #2, that is the same response as a couple others in the thread. I explain it though in detail in the thread, but levels don't matter when it comes to defenses, just number of items. For instance if I share a TH9 with my 6 archer towers all level 11, my TH9 friend can still use it if he has 6 archer towers all random levels. Same for walls. The levels don't matter and aren't taken into account, just which item and where it is placed.
Bolded so others can see it easier. Hope that clears up the confusion for you :)
Thanks again!
Sorry dfg, I am having trouble understanding your post :( The solution that was suggestion would be to have a lock option, so that you can use whatever base you currently have as your final war base, so you can switch back to a different base even faster and not have to do it right when a war starts.
Epic Thread Mastermind.. I'm lost for words..
I've finally found the thread a great idea. I also think they need to implement upgrading multiple walls at a time as it can get very annoying individually clicking each wall especially when you get to a new TH
Awesome thread ... I am soo sick and tired of putting in all the labor to switching bases ! :p
Lets add this noooow !

I didn't read fully but what about when someone levels up their TH? It should erase all layouts to prevent bugs!
It would probably jsut have the extra buildings in the buildings slot and you would then have to place them. That's probably in the thread, but I just read the main details.
This would be so good for farmers participating in clan wars. Supercell please!
My response, is you live up to your name! Mastermind! If we were in medieval times, I would definitely apprentice to you! :D
