That's worse than the hogs lol

Spoke too soon, we definitely have some idiot attackers in my clan, still got love for them cuz at least they're trying, but the strategy (and planning) part of the game clearly went over their heads.
I'm a pretty new TH8 with all TH7 level troops aside from healers (still lvl 1 cause I find they are mostly useless especially in trophy attacks). The game suggests I attack #19 for the opponent, instead I hit the enemy #6 for a 3 star...... with my TH7 army on a pretty upgraded TH8 base.
meanwhile we have a TH9 who can't even get 1 star on a TH7 .... that has 2 air defenses on the outside of the base ....... who deploys dragons on the collectors before killing the air defense.
It's maddening.
Same thing last war, I collected 6 stars on bases a good deal above my suggested target and we end up losing by 5 stars.
We are going to try and teach up some folks otherwise they might be getting the boot.
First of all, why did they make it ten players? Its not fair to the rest of the members. Maybe it would be better if more could play, or maybe if they allow you to choose the people who compete.
Same here man our clan now knows who the really strong people in our clan our and the not so strong people lol, but it the long run I have to say that it was a huge eye opener.
Yea, we've definitely found out who is good at attacking and who isn't. There's a girl in our clan who's been an active player for at least a year, always donates 250+ troops a week.
She seems to be under the impression that rage spells make troops rage permanently, as she keeps dropping rage spells outside the walls and deploying giants and barbs inside the circle. By the time they reach any buildings, they're done raging, cause they left the circle.
She has done this two wars in a row, and although it's extremely entertaining, I just don't know how someone can play that long and suck that bad.
No way to prove it but ....
Right after this last war started, we had some folks join. They _really_ wanted to be involved in the upcoming war. Did not seem to hear the part where they were observers. Kept involving themselves in planning. May have made some questionable donations.
As the war started, they (three of them) jumped.
Looking back at them, the smart questions asked did not match the levels of their bases or their generally dumb (and disruptive) behavior.
Our CC forces did not seem to be a surprise to the enemy. We do mix them up a little bit to reduce the "hey watch out, there are lvl 5 Wizards in all the CCs" warnings.
Our attack strategy was/is closely emulated by the enemy, just missing some details that were not published to the clan until after the war start.
Now I may just be paranoid but it was all a little too convenient. Our plan going forward?
Close the clan BEFORE the declaration of war. No recruits during a war. None. Nada. Zilch. Don't care who you know, the door is locked.
We will also look at better security on planning side.
Oh, and this war?
9 hours left, a 4 point spread and the heavies are getting ready to kick butt and take names. I have one more "mid grade" attack to do and then it is popcorn time.
I'm having a lot of fun. This is making me have faith that I will enjoy this aspect of the game a lot more than just grinding my way through TH9 and 10. In fact, I think I'm going to hang at TH8 for a long time. Yes, a lot of people in my clan need to learn how to attack. That's cool. I've been encouraging people to have fun and not feel like a failed attack is the end of the world or anything (in fact at least for who we have been matched up with, I'm encouraging people to beat up on clan halls a full level below them if they can).
That begin said, someone in my clan donated HEALERS into everyone's war castles before this war and posted "OK, I gave everyone healers, USE THEM WISELY!"
Very wise words Carlito (and when's your next youtube vid?)
I have direct access to three clans, all quite different - each provides a good insight into the good and bad...
My main one has been around for about 1.5 years, longer than I've been playing, and has a real mix of players in terms of skills, participation, TH level, and so on. But it has always been a clan for loyal players from our country, who want to have fun. We pruned the obvious inactives before our first war, but do not expect everyone to be 3-starring two enemy bases every war. I watched a lot of replays last night, from our third war, and it's pretty obvious that some of our highest TH / highest level players, are still not at all skilled in how to crush enemy bases. And that's totally fine, they will learn, and you can already see they are learning and adapting. For example rather than try and attack a tough base, they now attack a mid-tier TH8 and get 2-3 stars, which is enough for our clan war, they are contributing. We have bases down to TH7 in our clan, as do our enemies, so there is a decent target for everyone to have a crack at. We give our lowest TH levels first go at the attacks, encourage anyone who wants to to snipe an exposed TH that would otherwise be beyond their little army (great loot bonus), and try and keep some of our best attacks until the end. Some of us are well skilled at attacking for stars, some I never knew because they are pretty quiet on chat, and some may never be. And that's OK, you actually don't need everyone to be 3-staring bases to have a good chance of winning, you just need at least half of your clan to be into it, and the rest to join in as they see fit (or not). For example one member has already said he can't keep building huge armies for war because he needs to improve his base, and that's totally fine, I fully expect that those of us who can and want to, will go hard out, but not everyone needs to. We haven't won a war yet, but we are improving and working together, and it's really fun. Some of us have been hanging out for Clan Wars for longer than I have been playing, some just like to farm, and I'd like to think our clan has a place for us all.
My daughter's clan is pretty much the opposite... a "feeder clan", with an open membership of TH6-TH8, they pruned membership hard before clan wars, and continue to do so. People who do not donate enough are kicked, and people who do not attack twice in a clan war are kicked. The membership is down to just below 20 (it used to be more like 40+), and I fear it will get worse not better. Strange thing is, they have won both their wars so far. It just seems unnecessary to drive the clan so hard, towards everyone being really active and warring too, when in reality there are loads of good players who just like to play occasionally, but still contribute to a good clan. They are, effectively, a clan for noobs, and that's OK, you can't expect everyone to be experts, on every day, while still new and learning. My daughter joined the clan at TH5, after only about two days of playing CoC, and after a few weeks was TH7 and co-leader. But she's going to struggle to meet the new requirements of being so active, which is a real shame - the clan may well implode if it continues this way.
My alt-account's clan, is the top clan that my daughter is in a feeder of. Last I saw, they were headed for their third straight defeat in clan wars, and by a huge margin. They have a mix of TH8-TH10, lots of who are into pushing trophies, but for various reasons they seem incapable, so far, of putting together a cohesive strategy, and/or executing on that strategy. I suspect a lot of them really don't know how to hunt cups, and they also haven't grasped the fact they still need to crush someone below them rather than try and be a hero and fail. Anyway, I think the leader and some other TH10 are getting pretty uptight about it; like my daughter's clan, I fear for where the leaders will take the clan... it's all too easy to get carried away, and let Clan Wars destroy what was a pretty good clan...
At the end of the day, all I can say is we all need to remember that it's just a game, a game for fun, and Clan Wars can be a great way to add to the fun, as long as we all keep our perspective - don't let Clan Wars tear good clans apart.
LoL... the important thing is, she's been a good (and loyal) clan member for a year, and no doubt still is.
Best you can do, for her and anyone else, is encourage them to do their best, attack an enemy base that's appropriate for their capabilities, and watch as many replays as possible. If they want to improve, they will. If they are happy doing whatever, well you can only lead the horse to water....
