Attack Strategy for Beginners?

So I'm kind of a noob :p
Rushed my TH upgrades, so it's a lvl.6 but my defense upgrades are far behind.
I'm finding lots of good info on here about defense, farming set ups, etc... (and planning to do some farming for a little while in an attempt to max my defenses and balance out with my TH)

But not much on attack strategy... beyond what troops to take in. And most of that seems to be more specific to higher level players than my humble self.

So anybody got any tips for us lower levels?
Like what troops to use against certain defenses, what order to target things, send troops in one giant mass or spread them out (or does it depend on which troops you are using?).
You know, stuff like that. :rolleyes:

Barbs are great are your level. In fact, my friend was farming at got into crystal using barbs. Barbarians and archers are what I use. Drop line of barbs to distract, then spread archers behind.

You know I'm kinda confused by this too and have a couple related questions, maybe someone can help clear the air on these few questions please.

1.) My son Nicholas <edit> wants to always revenge, LOL. He likes to empty out whats available and use everything we have on an attack. OK. but I've read that's not necessarily a good thing as your gain may not be worth the retraining fees?? True/False? Always check not only their strength but what gold/elixer resources they have for looting??

2.) This is what I do, give me your opinion. I'll give it a quick overview and either pass or choose to attack.
Secondly I figure out where their ground defense are and perhaps send two balloons & two to four wall breakers on opposite sides, 4-6 barbarians with a handful of goblins. Maybe throw in a giant or two. I check my progress and if I need a few more I'll add by the time I get to say a minute left if I have a good percentage say a star or two I sit tight if not I send it a few more. Good or so so??

3a.) The retraining troops process is confusing to me so we have a few Barbarians X4, GoblinsX6 and Giants X5 ??
What does that mean exactly?? I know it costs elixer but what about the X??

b.) Is this based on the upgraded Army Camp?

To quickly answer your questions though,

1) If an attack costs you everything you have, make sure you make up what you lose. But he's 8, so what can you do ;)

2) Your attack strategy sounds a little odd. At the level you're at, 50% archers and 50% barbarians is the best attack for farming and trophies. All the X means is how many of that troop you're training up. Barbarians X5 means that barracks has 5 barbarians waiting to be trained.

3) Upgrading your army camps lets you hold more troops. That is it. (Not to say that isn't important, IT IS)

4) I wish my mom played Clash... :cool:

Try the BAG army(barb,arch,gob) If farming and just sniping(Archers to exposed town halls.) if trophy hunting
