iDAN's TH 7-9 Farming Strat
Hey all! I know many people have their preferred way of farming but I just thought that I'd share mine from the past few months since I haven't heard of others using my exact method. Everyone has there own version of farming that works best for them. Some prefer straight BARCH or BAM, but mine is kind of a modified BAM/BARCH hybrid with giants. Here's my army (though this is just the guideline) that I farm with at 1700-1800 (TH9):
12 giants
12 wall breakers
20 barbs
4 wizards
8 or 12 goblins
4-8 minions
rest archers (~60)
*notice how every elixir troop is made in a multiple of 4. This helps keep the barracks organized and training the army at the same pace.
Order of queue in each barrack: wizard, giants, wall breakers, barbs, archers, gobs
This army is not the quickest to make due to the wizards and wall breakers, but note that giants take 24 seconds per unit which is slightly faster than archers. Many people mistake giants for taking too long to train when they are actually quite fast!)
*Wizards aren't necessary and many times I do not make them, but I do like to have them to be the first trained while I have a full army and while I'm searching for a target to raid because many times by the time I find and raid a target I come back to my base with the wizards already trained. In other words, the time I spend searching and raiding isn't wasted because it was spent training 4 wizards.
Now to explain my army for farming. I love this army because it is great at quick looting inactives' mines and collectos. Most inactives I only use 4 or 8 giants and my gobs and some archers. Some times I need all 12 giants and 4, 8, or all 12 wall breakers if there is loot behind walls. When I find and loot inactives, my next army is ready within 10 to 15 minutes. If I didn't queue wizards then sometimes I come back to an already filled army ready to go again!
When searching for players to raid, I normally do not accept players that offer less than 170k of either gold or elixir unless one of those numbers is over 225k. Also mine/collector raiding is key! This allows you to spend only part of your army to take most if not all of the resources, resulting in the next army being ready to go quickly. For spells, I admit I normally make 3 lightning and 1 rage. Whenever I see a player with over 2.5k DE available, that player is almost always a high lvl farmer in which case I just zap his DE storage and snipe his/her TH if it is sitting outside with my AQ.
Is my army the quickest to make? No. But it is still quick to make, especially when you do not make the wizards. What's great about this army is that whenever I run into a base with great loot in storages, this army can do things that BARCH and BAM can't! It is not only a great farming army but a great storage looting army when needed.
Again this is just my preferred way of farming. Everyone has their own way of playing. I've tried many different types of armies from farming with BARCH and BAM to using giant/healer (but that takes too long to make IMO) and even more lengthy armies such as balloonions and hog hybrids (which are all fun from time to time). As a TH 9 with nothing to spend elixir on now until I upgrade my TH to 10, I always queue a dragon or balloon/drag army when I go offline for a while. If you want to try this out and you are a TH 8 or below, modifications to the army are likely to be needed. I recommend taking away 4 wall breakers and 12 archers if you are TH 8 in order to make the army fit. If you are TH 7, take away the wizards and/or 4 giants and/or minions. There's always a working combination :)
I'm only one of the many long time players I know, but I just wanted to share my way of farming for you to at least consider. My way is nothing mind blowing, and I'm not here looking for suggestions as I know what is working for me personally. I'm also aware that this technique is not the most efficient way to farm at TH 10, but at TH 9 I'm having a good time with this. Feel free to ask any questions as I chose not to bore you with many of the small details and reasons for how I run my farming!
