New CW Defensive Strategy

So, everyone is making a huge deal about protecting your TH, but, what if you position your TH outside of your base and but heavily fortify it with spring traps, giant bombs, bombs, teslas, as well as air mines? Wouldn't that be an effective defensive strategy too? Think about it, people see an exposed TH and they go for it, thinking it's and easy 1-star+, but then they end up wasting the majority or their troops trying to demolish the TH, and do not have enough troops to attack the rest of the base, Leaving them with a 1 star win, rather than a 2 or 3 star? Please critique this idea, I think it might possibly be a good defensive strategy for CW

That honestly is a very good idea...if done right. I might try it next clan war!

Except several people can attack your base, and can see replays of those attacks.
You can't change the design, and the second person will just trigger the traps with a handful of barbs and then destroy you.

Yes, Maybe some people wont watch replays, but you do have a point.. maybe surround the fortified TH with a layer of walls, or with lots of buildings, so the attacker has to deploy a good amount of troops to even get to the TH, I don't know, I think its a good idea that needs tweaking, and will take a few CW to truly see if it's an effective strategy.

This same thread was here yesterday. If it was such a great strategy, wouldn't you see it used all the time at Masters 1 and Champs? And yet you don't...

Sorry, I haven't seen that thread, and I wasn't sure if it was a great strategy, I haven't used it in CW yet, no one has. I think it's just something cool that could be tested, and wanted other peoples opinions. For my base, I think it's a good strategy, TH8, around 1600 trophies. I don't know how this strategy works in masters and champions league. I'm just talking about using this for Clan Wars,

It's an easy 1 star but ya you may save a 2 or 3 star attack if they are lvl 6 TH or lower.

Snipers can easily 1 star any TH 10 as long as their TH is outside and no Infernos or splash are involved.

It is tricky with 4 max teslas, xbows, heroes, and CC all involved hitting troops while targeting TH but still can do it and that's a TH 7 against TH 10.

The process to beat a trapped/loaded TH:
Lure CC and heroes. Get them to a corner without defenses and work on them.
Drop a few barbs or gobs to spring traps/ bombs and raise teslas around TH.
Make sure if TH is trapped that obviously giant bombs will be around so get rid of those too around teslas and areas between TH and troops.
Drop troops hard on one side of TH with two teslas (assuming 2 teslas are on each side) so the 2 tesals are targeted by troops. If teslas are in front without space for GBs between teslas and TH then its easier just deploy everything, if you don't knock out the teslas ASAP just drop BK with rage and handful of barbs and it is all over real fast.

A lot of TH 8-10 players use the trap strategy up thru-to Crystal 1 but then it pretty much goes away.

Personally, I would avoid the strategy in CW because it potentially opens up a higher TH opponent to getting one starred by a much lesser TH attacker (and allows a stronger player to hit a more equal opponent for 2-3 stars if peeps are happy with a 1 star victory from low level on high level TH).

Dumb idea, just like normal people who trap TH in raids. Experienced players just drop a few barbs to deal with bombs/traps, send a couple giants for tesla, and proceed to 2-3 star your base

Not really that dumb of an idea, honestly. I've using it before, just for my regular base design, and it works brilliantly. Lures people in, and they end up using the majority of their troops. Especially if all of the traps and TH is placed behind a layer of walls, or if the teslas are placed behind the TH, within a layer of walls.
