Clan Wars attacking other people base

Can we help our friends during a war ?(not donating) but attacking while our friends are attacking other people base..

only one base can be attacked by one player at a time. Technically, you can both attack the same base at the same time, but you won't be attacking that one base together. You will each be attacking a separate copy of that base.

Oh, i thought it would be possible to attack one player at a time..
