If you want to acknowledge the fact that a race,more specific,my race is good,please don't say "Asian" as it may be offending me or another person of my race.

I understand the OP may have made a generalization which some people construe as racist/offensive but taking your example and switching Asian for Russian, the post still means the exact same thing. for lack of a better term the OP identified the group by country of origin and not by any slur or word with a negative connotation. had the OP said black, yellow or white instead of Asian then the post takes on a different and offensive form. The OP meant nothing by the term and it is an accurate term as well.

I am a person of this race and personally,I don't want to be called my race in any form what.So.Ever.
I don't want be called a skin color or even Asian as I, bolding I,don't like being called like that.
