Hey, I'm new to the supercell forum, but I joined for 1 specific reason: relations. With the recent update to Clans, you can declare wars on other clans. Now I might be being a complete noob here, and if so I apologize for wasting your time. But if I'm not, hear me out... What if you could ally other clans?
Now, I understand the implications of this to their fullest extent, and their complications, etc. But if one clan can declare war on another, surely it makes sense that two clans with friendly relations can join forces, in some way or form? It seems that the game could surely benefit from such a feature. There could be ways of betraying an allied clan, a way of helping an ally clan, and perhaps even forming some sort of coalition or alliance, a small group of clans coming together to form a larger, more powerful force?
The ability to betray allied clans could be a necessity, because if it wasn't, trust wouldn't really be needed to ally each other, which could end up in a massively complicated and disorganized multiplayer experience because everyone would just be allying each other to conquer others, and it could just end up being a fairly one-sided war, as everyone would just gang up on one or two other clans over and over, with little or no risk. As well, to discourage betrayal of another clan, just enough so that everyone didn't just spam betrayal and reap the benefits (which would probably consist mainly of resources, or gaining the trust of an enemy clan), there could be disadvantages to betraying to, such as perhaps a logo or sign of some sort that clan has betrayed before, or perhaps simply a penalty such as you can only ally a limited number of times a season.
As for benefits of alliances, they'd have to be well thought out, as to not make them completely overpowered. There could be trading of units, or combined military forces to make yourselves more powerful against enemy clans. Now as for trading resources, it could be slightly overpowered, which is why that aspect would most likely be ruled out by administrators and editors of the game, just as it has been in the past. Units would be the most likely benefit, as they are the very thing that propels one to join a clan in the first place. Which is why the further need of troops, especially in a clan war, would make sense.
Coalitions and alliances between more than two clans could become complicated, but it can have positives as well. For instance, it could be used as a feeder system for the more powerful clans, having a sub-clan for recruitment purposes, basically having the lesser clans becoming farm clans for players who would like to work up to getting into the highly exclusive groups, such as Quantum's Web, Mega, and Kings Landing, to state some of the more obvious ones. Besides the reason of what would be essentially "farm teams", there could be mass clan wars, likely available only to the more powerful clans. The mechanics of these alliances would have to be much further well defined and detailed, so this would likely be a much later feature if Clash ever implemented an "Ally" feature.
