I suspect our clan will be one of the first to battle so will re post here with any feedback.
The preparation day has been great and has made our clan more active than ever.
I have been keeping a list so members can nominate who they wish to battle on a first come first serve basis.
Now we are helping each other with base designs and preparing tactics for attacking!

Can somebody from SC please confirm whether the people without the x-swords can partake in the clanwar or not ?
We have a 35 vs 35 match and 15 of us do not have that symbol. The other clan also has 35 players, so it doesn't make sense that some cannot participate.
Especially since it's some of our strongest players.
I know everybody is cooking up expensive troops, so it would be a bit disappinting if those withut swords cannot attack.
It doesn't say they are spectators anywhere in their clanwar part of the game, btw.
They are also the ones with low townhalls on the war map while in reality they have high townhalls.
Also if they cannot attack, can they be attacked by the other team ?
If those people do not participate, we won't have any chance in the war and we might as well inform everybody not to waste troops for it and just wait until the clanwar is over to try again and see if it's without bugs the next time.
I understand things might be buggy in the beginning and the clanwar thing may need another update. No hard feelings, writing software isn't easy.
But some people are intending to stay up late tonight to fight when our war day starts at 11pm our time. And if they knew they would not be able to fight, it would be better if I could tell them right now.

Today we started a war and pressed the button at 7AM. It's now 9AM and still searching for a match. We did not cancel the process at any point. Just left it searching.
Also, we had 40 members before we started. All had the swords next to there names ready for a clan war. After we started the war. 1 of our members at rank 5 in our clan (/\/ / /\/ _/ /\ is his name "ninja") does not have the swords next to his name anymore. We had a member join after we started the war and they also don't have swords but that is to be expected as that member joined after we started. But Ninja should have swords and not be excluded.
The Clan name is Blood Crusaders, Erin is leader (me).
Just though I would like you guys know about the longer matchmaking time and the glitch with Ninja being listed as a spectator.

- The ability to *flag* bases that you want/intend to attack during the war so that you don't have to communicate outside of the game for that. This way when your clanmates look at bases they see who will be attacking who and can plan accordingly.
- The ability to lock in and allow only specific donations and/or ability to dump war clan castle troops.
- Better balancing of matchups/re-working the algorithm.
Should be able to lock in your war base once you're ready so don't have to worry about having your base setup when the war starts.
Well, this update sucks. Add clan wars to the list of broken in game features with the time bug and extensive nexting. Hopefully they will actually fix this problem, but I'm not holding my breath on it.
I'm finding in Clan Wars that Hero level isn't weighted nearly as high as it should be. the sheer power of high level heroes can be the sole determining factor in a War. In fact, Hero level shouldn't even be weighted linearly. The power of level 40 heroes rather than 30 is leaps and bounds ahead.
Just like in Champion's League, Clan Wars will be determined more by the attacks than the defenses. You're gonna lose your defenses hard so you have to attack harder(not defend harder) than the other Clan and Heroes make all the difference in attacks.
Level 15 heroes don't do much in determining the end of a battle unless the player is right on the edge of winning. Level 40 heroes on the other hand can take you from the edge to "Oh good I got the one star, oh wait there goes the two star....wow they're still going!...let's see if I can get the 3 star with my last rage spell!"
A clan where everyone has level 10 heroes can be matched against a clan with equal bases but all level 5 heroes EXCEPT for the top 10 who have level 35-40 heroes. That right there gives the clan with the level 5 heroes 20 attacks that are already guaranteed a 2 star and possibly a 3 star without much effort.
I have a near maxed base and I'm not ashamed to admit that a guy using nothing except healers and 2 level 40 heroes did 80% damage to me, even with my maxed or near max defenses and level 11 walls and full Clan Castle. He didn't even have to think about where to deploy them.
Heroes carry more weight than you give them in Clan Wars.

SUPERCELL!!! Please please please let us save base layouts or at least have a separate war base design we can change so that us farmers can still continue to farm and not worry about always changing our bases every other day once a war has started!
3 things would be great:
- save function for villages
- to be able to dump cc troops in warbase
- better ingame communication (1 msg / 12 hours does not help)
I really like the update so far. I have noticed that the server is a TON slower since the update though, so if you guys could work on that, that would be the best. I would also like to suggest that when clans get matched up that they also get matched up by whether the players in the clan are active or not. Thanks, love the game.
I am thrilled that Supercell took into account that we have world-wide clans and not everyone can be on at great lengths to participate in the Clan War. I'm happy with the format and design of the Clan Wars - great job!
A few initial observations & feedback:
- War Base Save Layout - this is by far the number one request in my clan. Please give us the option to quickly switch between our normal village and the war base village.
- War Base Clan Castle - either give us a way to see who donated the troops, so we can talk with them about appropriate donations, or give us the option to dump specific troops or all troops from the war base clan castle.
- Option in settings to be a spectator - a clan member could go into settings and select, spectator mode such that when the next Clan War is declared, they would sit out that Clan War. This would allow members to farm or go on vacation and not feel pressured to participate in every Clan War. With this, there could be an indicator that appears next to their league shield on the clan's listing of being in spectator mode.
- Chat history - with all the chatting going on, the number of chat messages being kept is insufficient. Our clan has had to start using an alternative chat app to keep more history of strategies and planning for Clan Wars.
Just a thought... what if a snapshot of your normal base was taken and set as the war base at the start of preparation day. At that point, your war base is entirely separate from your normal base, and can be rearranged however you want during the 24hr prep day without changing your normal base at all. At the end of preparation day, the war base is then locked in. At the end of the war, the war based used simply vanishes, and the next war that starts begins from a new snapshot of your normal base at that point in time. This solves 2 problems:
1) since normal base doesn't change, there is no need to change and then change back, and no worrying about trying to time changes around the prep day countdown.
2) since the snapshot is taken at the start of prep day, players can't gem a bunch of upgrades after the match is found for an unfair advantage in the war. Any upgrades that finish during the war would only count for the normal base but not the war base. The upgrades would then count for the next war and be included in the matchmaking calculations.
Just thought this would be a fair alternative to saying multiple layouts. I could imagine some technical issues with what happens to your saved layout if you buy a new building is it just placed randomly somewhere in your other saved layouts or are the saved layouts corrupted or are you asked to place the building in every saved layout everytime you buy a new building? The idea in this post, you still need to arrange a new war base every war, but since it doesn't effect your normal base and you have 24 hrs before it locks in, you don't have to do it all at one time, you can sign off without worrying about getting raided with an in-progress base. You also don't have to switch from farming to war base, wait for the timer, and then switch normal back to farming.
Oh yeah, my first post. Great game, only been playing for a few weeks and just got to TH5. Pretty hooked on the game plan to keep playing for a while. Thought I might as well join the community here.

Was only about 15 minutes for my clan. We were however significantly outmatched when it finally finished IMHO.
Portlandia with leader cech vs. Pinoy Active with leader _Ri5H_
They have a member at 120! When everyone has two attacks they only need 25 players to beat our butt; their top end is so heavy it doesn't matter what happens with the bottom 25.
So i know supercell said the average wait time at most should be 1 hour... We just did our first war start and its at 1 1/2 hrs as of right now.

How do we empty the war CC during prep day? Our CC is full of garbage troops and nobody knows where they came from. What if a troll from the competing clan joined our clan, filled all our castles with junk, then left? Need a way to purge these during prep day.
If not possible now, should be a future update to permit that.

Loving Clan Wars, nicely done, Supercell. Please do add, as soon as is practical, the following though, that would improve the overall Clan Wars experience immensly:
1. Ability to drop troops from War Clan Castle and/or, at least ability to see where they came from.
2. Either save base layout feature, or separate war base feature.
3. Ability for clan members to opt-in or out of clan wars prior to war start (also mentioned previously in this thread, and mechanics of his recommendation sounded good, if not the other portions of his suggestions).
Hey guys, got a question not sure if answered yet? When war day has arrived ie 4 hrs for me, do i actually need to train troops beforehand or can i then train troops once i have selected a target to attack as I could need different troops for different bases, haven't seen it mentioned here, so if i have all barbs and archers in my camps and the war has started can i just ditch them on a normal multiplayer attack and cook more troops to use in my clan war?

I think we should have the option to dump clan castle troops in the war base. Maybe even have an option to lock some clan members from donating. Or maybe even not have it automatically be open for donations. With everyone open to donate you don't know who gave the low leveled troops. Thanks for reading.

Yes one of my clan members was filled with giants in his war clan castle. Not sure how they got there, but we need to get them out!

HOWEVER, With the limited capabilities of in game communication, It is extremely difficult to organize a planned attack. Let alone, organize a successful CC composition. We all have had it happen to us: SOMEONE donates a lvl5 Goblin, but I realllllllly needed that lvl 2 witch....
Long story short....we need a way to empty CC troops in prep day. I am stuck with 2 hogs and the rest archers. When in reality, my clan wants to donate all witches to those who can hold em....so much for that idea....
Our match is set and day two starts soon.. Our clan has 23 members active in the war and their clan has 42 acive members..
I am trying to make my base active for the war and so are many of my clanmates, but we cannot accept troops or change our status. Why is this the case? is something wrong?
To see how long it takes for the malcontents who try and destroy clans to start depositing wall breakers in the war castles since there is no way to remove them?
So what exactly has today's update manage to fix?
Leaders and only leaders should be able to initiate War.
Had to boot a co leader thats been with me for a year, yesterday, because this person initiated war before we were prepared:(

- Saved base layouts - Yes!!! We hope to add this in the next update, but as always, no promises!
- Lock in or "save war base" button - We had this in a company playable but ruled it out due to the confusion it caused when we were testing it. We hope to add more distinction between your Village and your War Base in a future update, with the focus of resolving the current difficulty in preparing your war base
- Showing Donation History - we will not add this. It is not part of the normal clan mode and we feel it is "too hardcore" to be able to track who is donating what. See the next note though
- Dump Clan Castle Troops - Yes. It will happen, hopefully next update, but no promises yet.
- Claim an opponent on prep day - Great idea, and we talked about adding it initially. We'll see how your guys' war days goes and what the feedback is then. I would mark this in the "maybe to likely" range of requests.
A note on how ranking is determined for clan war participants v. spectators]
It is both intended and quite common that players with a higher TH are left out of a Clan War. The ranking is not based on TH level, it based on trophy count, and then the level of defenses. Check out the following explanation of how matchmaking should work:
- The first x # of players go to matchmaking depending on their trophy amount and the position in the clan For example, in a 10v10 clan war, if one clan has 14 members, the 10 highest trophied members will be the ones to go to war.
- Once a match is found, players are sorted on the map from strongest to weakest, in terms of defence power of their base, i.e., defense levels, hero levels, traps, etc.
- We do not take TH levels into account. Instead, we only use overall strength of all defence elements in player’s village. For example, a TH8 with higher level defenses than a TH9 will be ranked higher than the TH9 in the war map.
- XP has no bearing on the ranking of your war base on the war map
Updates on common problems and issues
- Matchmaking and wait times: This should have improved in this morning's maintenance. We are closely monitoring the queue and will make any improvements in the future as needed.
- "Stronger" players being left out of clan wars, placed in spectator mode: Please read our note above on rankings. This should explain why some players are placed in spectator mode despite having a higher TH. in addition, there may have been some server issues that caused some players to show up as less strong than they are. We are investigating any continued occurrences of this.
- Unfair/unbalanced matchmaking: We will definitely improve matchmaking going forward to make sure clans are more evenly matched. We started off with the settings being pretty liberal, because we were worried that clans would not be able to find matches initially. This will be constantly improved with every maintenance/update.
- Entire Clan Stuck in Spectator Mode: Should be fixed with this morning's maintenance, and avoided going forward by NOT PRESSING THE CANCEL button. Please post in our bugs subforum if your ENTIRE CLAN continues to experience this issue. And please note that this is a different issue than individual members being in spectator mode. Inevitably some members will be left out of the war.
- Individuals showing lower War TH/Base levels than regular in village and in Spectator Mode: This is likely due to server overload issues but we will closely monitor this situation. They will have to sit out this first clan war, but we believe the issue will correct itself in the next war. Please keep us posted as we are closely monitoring this one.
- Clan Chat Lag: Related to server overload. Should work fine now.
- Donation Issues: Also related to server overload.
- Completed CC6 appearing as CC5 in War Base: Also related to server overload, but we are monitoring closely.
- War Log Button Partially Covers Clan Description Text on iPhone Fixed for the next update
- Spell Factory Shows too many spells: Example: http://m.imgur.com/LriKAEM - Fortunately this is just a display issue. It counts the troops donate to war base as the amount of spells in the factory in the war base. Funky. Fixed for the next update.

I have the strongest base in my clan and near top in trophies but left out, and I'm a co- leader, our leader who is top of trophies with definitely not the weakest base also left out....

I'm enyoing every aspect the wars are bringing to Clash, and I've noticed as many surely have that we can no longer see in camps or in clan castle the number of troops trained and their level. I find this great.
I have also noticed that you can see he base of the opposing clan outside of the a war map, in other words, you could the clan name up and go through their bases. So if u are upgrading defenses the other can see what u are upgrading and this is fine, but with hidden teslas.
It would be great that during this two day stage u could not see the opposing base in normal multiplay. I know you can make it around with an alt, but anyway just an idea.
P.S. All my teslas are upgranding so they already know where they are.
I agree. I spent all day yesterday on chat, telling every member who appeared that we were NOT GOING TO WAR UNTIL AFTER THE MAINTENANCE BREAK. It was a long hard day, having to explain the reasoning to every disbelieving member, with the restrictions and inconveniences of clan chat. Woke up this morning - we had been at war since just after I went to bed :mad:
So far 3 of my 4 trusted and long-serving Co's deny all knowledge, and the 4th (actually my favourite clannie I'm sorry to say) has been suspiciously absent...
We got lucky - we were matched with a clan that actually exists, we are all eligible to fight, and the opposition is gonna go down hard! But that's not the point, it could all have gone horribly wrong.
Definitely seconding the motion that LEADERS ONLY CAN START WARS.
Seems great so far! Cant wait for tge start. Only downside is im bottom of the clan in the clan wars rankings....

I started a war almost 3 hours ago, searching for a 45 vs 45 opponent, and still have not been matched! We were one of the unlucky clans that got stuck in spectator mode yesterday, and I am really worried about it happening again.
I see that Steve said to NOT cancel... Or risk being stuck again. But They have also said it shouldn't take more than 1 hour to find a match.
So, uh, Steve or Marrick, or someone from supercell... What do I do? Are matches supposed to take 3+ hours?
What size is your clan?
Edit - duh saw 45 v 45 now... yes, there will be less potential targets to match with at this clan size so it may take longer to find an opponent.
Sometimes it can take up to 24 hours unfortunately. We're hoping to improve this in the future.
Just a thought. Since this is all about "starring" bases, there should be a level limit on how low you can go. In theory, if the strongest of the clan attacked all of the weakest of the clan and continually 3 starred the clan war map, they could win.

One other question... My clan was full, with 50 members, and yet it still did a 45 vs 45 match. I am really confused as to why it did that. Was this because some members are inelligible for the war? If so, why are eligible members being sat out? Will this fix itself if I remove the inelligible members (ie new members who left other clan while they were at war)?
You know if a base has been 2 starred ,well for the last star instead of 50% is it? For 1 star in c wars maybe only way to get the last star should be by taking down the TH only??? Make it harder, I could sweep barch or whatever take 50% to ezy in war especially with full army... Supercell!:confused: Make it hard for the 3 rd star on a base if its only 2 starred please supercell👍👍👍
Same here, stuck in spectator mode all day yesterday, stuck in "searching for opponent clan" all day today.
So let us know what we should do, should we stop the search and start over, or keep waiting for… how long?
Anyone finding a match after waiting a few hours without restarting?
Just wanted to say that I'm excited about Clan Wars... except for the donation system! My clan tracks donations and awards Elder to the highest donators, however for some reason your War Base donations don't count towards your total clan donations! I think this is something that should definitely be addressed in an update, otherwise there is a strong incentive not to donate to War Bases since no one will know it was you!
Love the update though, very excited to see how it works in practice :)

firstly the whole set-up of this clan wars looks fantastic, can't wait to get started. However, yesterday when the update first came out and the icon appeared on the left, I pressed on it and it started doing the matchmaking process. I am just an elder, and was really surprised at this. Didn't think that would happen. I was pretty confused. In the end I exited. Should this have happened? Perhaps you have already addressed this. Thanks for any clarification.
I know I can post information in the chat area, but it gets buried quickly with new posts. Is it possible (will it be possible) to post your status to your clan mates if your are going to be out of town and therefore not donating or participating in a clan war for a particular amount of time. I don't intend to shield.
Ok, now I'm confused... I think there is contradicting information on this...
I just got TH10 recently and started one of my inferno towers. So, it's going to level 1. I thought that meant I wouldn't be able to use it since I don't actually have it yet.
If an Xbow is going to level 3, then it shows up as level 2 on the map.
So, why wouldn't an inferno tower going to level 1 be a Level 0 meaning can't use it?

XP and donation count are not giving because we felt that people would "spam" donate.... or dump a bunch of goblins, barbs, giants, etc. at you just to drive up their level and donation count. Hope that explanation makes sense. We might make some changes to the system, but we will definitely not be giving XP or donation count for Clan War donation for the stated reason.
only in clan wars obviously. i would say this would be usefull because this way, if your clanmates are idiots/lower level compared to you, youll b able to be responsible for your own failures, and you would have a higher chance of success in defence.
Our wait time is well past 1 hour as has been said to be the upper margin of the wait time. When the wait is over and the "Go" button is available, pressing it returns us to the search and this repeats in a never ending cycle.
After 4 hours I cancelled, waited 10 minutes, and tried again. It started searching, and about a minute later a red message popped up saying "you can't start a war your clan is already in a war". After that it kept searching another ten minutes before I cancelled again, the system must really be screwed up.
I am going to wait a while and try again. I really don't want to be in another screwed up war like yesterday, where we are all spectators, so I'd rather just cancel and wait for the system to sort itself out a bit. Hope that works, because this is extremely frustrating. Wouldn't mind so much if it just didn't work at all, but all the hassle...
Clan wars works prefectly for me and my clan now. Just please let us ban troops or be able to dump troops in war base, some champions in my clan got lvl 5 giants and lvl 1 hogs in def cc. Even though we sent mail about the strict donations day before.

So its still not safe to press the cancel button?? I did that yesterday and had a empty war map. Today... Now about 7 hrs searching for a 40 v 40. I've read others cancelling and restarting the search and found a match in minutes. I'm just trying to what would be the best option for me. Cancel or wait it out?? Anyone?
My whole clan now is having this problem since war started 10 min ago we cant scout or attack or even collect resources

At the beginning of preparation one of my clanmates had 10 space CC, and we made our donations accordingly, by the end of the day, when 9 hours left to battle day, his upgrade of CC was completed and on the map he has a base with 15 spaces CC, however, now donation section is inactive and shows only 10- slots available and already filled with troops, is it a bug or system is working like this?

I just completed a attack won 3 stars and then nothing... we can't attack, scout or train troops
What is going on?
Get new servers. I cant even collect loot from my collectors let alone, scout or attack in wars!
One of my clan members said to reload your game

My daughter's Clan War is fubar... she's co-leader, originalkly tried starting the war herself, is second on the clan trophy board, yet her base and a number of others in the clan across different trophy counts do not have the clashing swords, and on the battle prep map their clan castle cannot take donations, ...
So it looks like only half the clan is part of the war, which starts in a couple of hours or less...
Not cool... wasn't there supposed to be a maintenance break coming up to fix this? Did it happen, but just not fix this sort of problem? It's going to be a pretty bad first clan war for her team if this isn't fixed...
Please make a way to see who donated what troops in the war page , many rats sending wbs and low level giants in my clan, and escaping with it >.<
