Walls actually come into play with the CW matchmaking. So clans with high level walls and bases will be matched with similar clans. I'm guessing ITD will be constantly paired with trophy clans but we'll see what happens I guess...
this has been discussed in my clan alot, a premi th10 could score much lower than a maxed th8 or th9 depending on how much score is placed on walls but the ITs and 3Xbow would be far more effective defense

Hmm perhaps but most of them live on shields so it gives them something to do while on shield.
The base progression as a whole is counted in the matchmaking so if clans with heavy wall upgrades and poor defence it won't make a huge difference I wouldn't think to their matchmaking because it is the sum of it's parts that is counted, not just one part like walls. Have to wait and see I guess...
So much this. They better add a lot of weight to level 10 townhall and inferno towers and very little weight to walls.
As a clan full of diehard maxers, this matchmaking system could totally screw us over for clan wars if they didn't weight things properly. I mean, what? The best base for winning clan wars is a max th10 except for level 6 walls... That shouldn't be the case, should it?
We will see how it goes, but if we are getting paired with clans full of premature, but still well developed th10s, we are going to lose most clan wars, just for trying to play the game most optimally up to this point. I guess they want to encourage more people to move to premature th10 just for war wins... but it's pretty lame to punish those of us who prefer to play this way with perhaps unavoidable war losses.
Weak... I'm sure I will succumb to the pressure and move up to th10 when my defenses finish, but before most of my level 9 walls... kind of sad that they could be making maxing a poor choice. I liked doing it thus far. Almost a point of pride with my clan, as we all do max heroes, walls, and dark troops at th7, and again at th8, something a lot of people seem to really think is difficult for some reason.
Ah well, only time will tell. But for real, th8s with level 4 hogs could 3 star max/maxing th9s if they have a chance to scout and plan the attack (especially if they have a chance to send another player in to test where traps are. Which a good clan will have room for because it only takes 25 players to 3 star 50 bases if they have a perfect run). Yet i am skeptical that th9 players with any combination of troops will be able 3 star max/maxing th10s, considering max th10s are hard pressed to 3 star other max th10s in many cases.
So will clan wars just devolve into stacking your clan with th10s? I sure hope not. They better weight things properly or give us th9s a single inferno...
It will be very interesting to see in what order the bases with in our clans are ranked.
Since the list of war bases we see seem to be in order of strength.
Is my TH9 with maxed defenses and OK walls going to rate higher than a weak/mediocre TH10?
I'll let you know, we got this TH9 with almost full lvl 9 walls and already a bunch of lavas with still TH6 defenses mainly, i'm really curious to see how he ranks against for example a maxed TH8
I'm curious myself. We're a clan with all TH9 and below (1 very premie TH10, but he kinda doesn't count).
We have one maxed TH9 and a 2/3 maxed TH9 with full lego walls and several lava's (me). I'm curious if we see two or three TH10's in the other clan or if it will be all TH9's and below.
Should be fun either way and it will obviously be impossible to match clans exactly.
The funny thing about this thread is that heavy wall farmers are clearly scared of the fact that all the gold/time spent on walls may have been a waste because players who didn't max everything will probably have an advantage over them. For example if your simply comparing the gold put into defense in total (not likely) then a maxed th8 or TH9 with advanced walls will get ruined by the premi th10s.
Idk, I have good walls, But my heroes will hold me back.
Personally, i see walls like an attendance grade in a class. More than 5% wouldn't make sense. Now lvl 20+ heroes on a th9 might be more of a huge impact.
I'm not sure about you, but I'd say a th9 with level 10 heroes and maxed walls is not as strong as a th9 with level 8 walls and level 30 heroes. Heroes have a double value of attacking strength and defense strength.
Heroes should be weighted more than walls without question.
Not all farmers prioritize their walls over defenses.
In fact I would say most farmers prioritize defenses and then walls, or maybe its just me
I am very curious to see how well these rate.
In reality they should only add a small amount of 'points' or whatever system is used to calculate; given many army compositions completely bypass them.
If I as a max TH9 defense, mostly legos and lv 16 heroes get rated higher then a TH8 quality TH10 with Infernos I won't be happy.
Infernos do far more than my walls and heroes do on defense...
Supercell is pretty clever with their matchmaking as they've said.
I imagine the algorithm compares walls to walls, ths to ths, heroes to heroes, and etc.
So, for example, if one clan has a 'wall value' of 70 (out of 100), defenses ranked 50 (out of 100), heroes ranked 30 (of 100), and townhalls ranked 8 (out of 10).
They won't face townhalls ranked 9/10, defenses 70/100, heroes 50/100, and walls 10/100. That just wouldn't make sense. Walls will not negatively effect the matchmaking algorithm as much as OP believes.
They'll just face clans that have near equal wall levels with all other things held equal.

After a certain point, i might also have to keep 1 builder free for walls.
1- Currently, because of low build times, i can always get 1 builder free after every 1 day. I also do long upgrades along to delay it as much as i can. it's complicated to explain. once all upgrades have minimum of 7 days worth build time, i will not be able to get free builder too often. ( but reaching that point will take lots of time because i delay it by mixing long and short build times:D )
2- Once my legos finish up, i won't be able to empty my storages totally. Currently i saved some legos for that purpose( to spend 8 mil totally) but i will run out of them sooner or later.

And this is when i earned 3rd builder in 5 days of CoC (i didnt break 3 day shield ) 4th in 19 days and 5th 2 weeks ago after LOC ended and i won gems for being the best pusher in TH 9 category :p

I have to give long lectures often to present them my point of view.
I have no dark barracks yet. And i know exactly why i don't and why i won't for a month +
everything is a part of a plan :p ( just to differ from clueless premmies :P )
Is it only me ? I find it unfair to give walls a weight in CW, as far as it gives you no XP, and thus doesn't increase your lvl. Maybe supercell should think about taking walls into accounts for your XP as well...
All good farmers in my clan (lv9 walls+,Maxed defence,GG:500M+) always have a builder free to do walls.
It is not very good to wait for a builder to finish the building for very many days.I also find that having a
free builder will make the village develop much faster than keep all builders busy.(unless you're not an active player)
On topic: I think that walls shouldn't be weighted because having high level walls will be an advantage.:)

i am an exception and my base is developing faster by keeping 5 builders busy instead of 4.
I know it's only possible for me because i can. I went premmie with full plan.
Edit : i know most of you guys have high level defenses and you guys can't afford to keep all builders busy. i delay the build times by mixing long and short build times. ( discussed above )
I would say supercell is secretive about matchmaking. It has yet to be determined if they are clever as they will release only minimal info on the subject, though many questions have been asked.
Unity, sky, itd.....will u guys be adding noobs to your clan for continuous battling of th9s if they weight everyone in the clan equally? My clan hates the idea of breaking up the clan for easy loot.

Before you say walls are useless:
Who gets them most of the times? Farmers. Where they sit, how may it help them?
- It stops barching on your base.
- It stops people with L5 Wallbreakers which are 95% of players (well I guess not if you bring 20 lol).
Yes, for high lvl gameplay it may not be as important. Hog riders, balloons, mass drags, etc. But just because you can't get them you shouldn't be bashing them.
