Crystal League
To reach Crystal League in TH8, you'll need to employ 2 main tactics: Town Hall sniping and brute force 3 stars.
Town Hall Sniping
The method is pretty simple, but if you've never heard of it before, it just means deploying a few archers/barbs to take out an exposed TH for a 1 star victory as well as some trophies.
Bronze 0-400
This part will be quite easy, since sub 200 farmers will be constantly dropping cups on you. But if that doesn't work, just go 3 star easy bases found in that area.
Silver 800-1400
As a TH8, you can pretty easily climb up here with either mass infantry 3 stars, or a simple Giant Healer Combo since you'll mainly be facing lower town halls with weaker splash and air defense.
Gold. 1400-1800
Here you'll find lots of TH7s and some TH8s as well as some nice loot. it should be pretty easy to 1 star an inactive TH7 with tons of loot in the collectors, so just keep taking loot from the collectors of inactive TH7-8s and go for a 1-2 star victory, depending on the placement of their TH.
The army I used took up 180 supply and consisted of 10 Barbarians, 55 Archers, 64 Goblins, 4 Giants, and 8 Wall Breakers (you can swap a giant or two for some extra WB). and healers. Just use the barbs to take out the enemy Barb King or enemy CC troops, goblins to take out collectors and possibly exposed storages, and archers to help take out the collectors, barracks, camps, and builder huts. This army can take some getting used to,
I would highly recommend spending some time down here to stock up on loot as well as getting all Level 6 Walls
and getting lots of elixir for the next part.
Gold. 1800-2000
We're almost there! Gold and here is when you'll really need some force a solid base, and a good clan. for the CC I would recommend maxing it out to level 3 and filling it with archers and wizards (a group of wizards can tear through a pack of giants with ease). You might also find some people dropping cups on you, which only helps you get to Crystal
And now comes the part of actually attacking. When you get here, you'll find that there will be tons of semi developed TH9-10s, so the farming army I listed earlier can't help you now. But, here is where you'll really need brute force. I basically used 2 different types of dragon strategies.
1...The first army* I used consists of 10 Barbarians, 35 Archers, 7 Dragons, a Barbarian King, and 3 Level 4 Lightning Spells. The 10 barbs are for taking out their Queen and CC troops. The archers are for picking off unprotected buildings, helping to deal with CC Troops/enemy AQ, and taking out all their exposed/semi exposed air defense. The 3 lightning spells are to be dropped on the most well protected AD they have (3 Level 4 Lightning Spells can take out an AD of any level). Generally, you can take out 3/4 of their ADs (provided that 3 are exposed/semi exposed and the hidden one is zapped), so you want to drop all 7 of your dragons on the last AD as well as some extra archers/Barb King/CC Troops as a clean up crew. As long as the ADs are gone, then just let the Dragons go to work and you should be guaranteed a 2 star or if time permits a 3 star. Also, NEVER attack a base with an inferno tower since your lightning spells can't take it out and it will make quick work of your dragons. Finally, snipe all the town halls you can as an extra trophy bonus.
2....The second army I used consisted of the same troops except I swapped the lightning spells for 3 rage spells. This army is more reliable that the first, but it’s mostly limited to a 2 star victory. Start with the same tactics of luring CC troops and Heroes. Now comes the deployment. Most bases will have 4 ADs, so pick the side closest to the Town Hall and drop your dragons in a straight line. If the TH is closer to the a corner of the base and not a side, drop your dragons in an “L” shape along the corner. The idea is that the dragons on the sides will take out the outer buildings and veer off to the side, but that clears the distractions for the dragons in the middle and sends them into the core. Your dragons will generally go in a “^” shape. But once your dragons start to get into the base, drop 2 of your rage spells on each of the 2 closest ADs when you dragons get near them, but be sure to save your last one.
Now, you’ll probably be at 40ish percent damage and have 2-3 dragons near the TH. Drop your last rage spell now, and they’ll make quick work of it and get you the extra percentage for a 2 star victory.
This strategy is useful when you can’t find bases with only 2 active ADs and the lightning spell strategy fails.
