I've dabbled with that before but always returned to them inside and defending. I really really like those four defences outside the funnels acting as CC blockers and if more defences go in the core it is difficult to stop those coming inside too.Quote:

The way to beat a layout set up to deal with defence-led troops is to use non-defence-led troops and lots of them. The only defence-led element of the formidable GoWiWi are the Golems and here they do get lost around the ring. However, this doesn't stop them still doing their job as initial shields for the rest of the army.
The max royals flex their muscles. The King gets lost around the sides but the Queen is spot on. I don't think you can design for that.
On the positive side only two gold storages were lost and it wasn't a wipe out. Maybe Inferno Towers set to single mode and TH10 defences (I'm still a TH9 with discos) would have made a difference although I doubt it. I haven't been hit with this composition that much in the past, is this pretty typical?

Looking at it I think they had a strategy. A plan to remove a set of defences, break the ring and send hogs directly into the middle. Unfortunately for them the troops are just too weak. I hear lots and lots of people espouse how easy ring bases are to defeat, "just break the ring and send them in", and I've no doubt there are probably lots of good players out there who can do it. But I think it requires a decent amount of skill which most attackers simply do not possess.

The troops are all strong but the heroes are still babies. The king gets lost around the sides again whilst the raged queen takes a storage. I guess this shows how important the witches' skeletons are in a GoWiWi, protecting the wizards. Hogs are not tanks and putting them against discos is brave. You need to get them fast and brutal. Unfortunately here the pigs stick to the ring like glue.
Glad I got the shield. That Inferno Tower was almost out of juice at the end.

It's a different game when your heroes are stronger the whole other army added up together. I've joked about this a few times before, "He would've probably two starred that same base with maxed heroes and 240 goblins as easy as using maxed heroes and gowiwi." Well maybe with a lower % destroyed but yeah what I mean is, golems and skeletons are merely distractions.Quote:

As long as your defenses or defense ring look anything like this "O", your firepower is scattered. All the GoWiWi'er need is to take out the point defenses on one side and your splash and discos will tickle on his heroes. Hell some even write letters with their walls in champs. And you will see more and more bases that don't make any sense at all.
There is a little trick though for choosing or making a clan wars base. Some anti gowiwi designs are considered inferior to others in pushing because they try too hard to protect the core and makes it easy to abuse for one star wins with loonions or even barch. That's not the case for clan wars though. When pushing losing a lot of one stars easily is bad. But in clan wars no matter how many times you are one starred it's still a one star. Protecting your townhall with strong defenses is most important, even at the cost of a weak perimeter.
