Thanks for the reply - another thing I learned today!
Climbed up a little to where bigger attackers reside. This Level 136 came at me with everything today...

The tired Inferno Tower was nearly out of juice at the end. I'm experimenting with Mortar/AirDefence positioning. Although I haven't used the Ringus in Clan Wars, it has me thinking about layouts in general.
Why is it that in most TH10 designs I see, the mortars are on the outside rather than the core or even the 2nd ring of the village?
You decided to do that in your TH9 Ringus trophy village, too. What's the point of that? Their coverage of the inner core is lackluster it seems. I'm kinda curious.
That's a good question and I'm not sure I have a good answer. With my Ringus designs they couldn't go in the 2nd layer because, being a ring base, those items can't be defences. So they either have to sit in the core or on the outer ring. My TH10 core is smaller, so competition for spots is very stiff. I have had great results with Mortars in the core but with X-Bows, Inferno Towers, CC and DE there's just not enough room.
So they have to sit on the outside. In Ringus' outer ring the most valuable defences go in the small compartments. So that's the Wizard Towers. In the funnels the more valuable defences go towards the end of the funnel as these usually live a little longer. With the TH10 layout the Hidden Teslas protect one of the spots and I've started putting Air Defences in there (I used to put Mortars here).
Speaking generally there does seem to be a consensus that as you grow in TH10 you value them a lot less as core protectors, especially when trophies become a concern. Maybe that's because the 'core dangerous' entities when defending at this level all have very high HP, which Mortars are useless against. So TH10s often tend to put them on the edges as good coverage of outside buildings, stopping archers snatching the 50% or establishing anchors for CC/Hero murder.
There could be other reasons. I'm new at the TH10 table.
Interesting, thanks for your answer. The weird thing I see sometimes are lonely mortars outside of walls with nothing to protect them nearby. If you ever find out why that is... Feel free to tell me :P :D
I really need to start designing some villages on my own, but the way I build has already been so influenced by the great designs I've seen. Sometimes I copy 80% of a base unconsciously, because I can't think of anything new :x
seems like I would train 16 hogs (4 per AD) and take out Air Defenses on your perimeter and then assault with balloons, drags, and minions.
Clan Wars has made me value Air Defence more. I have changed the hybrid to reflect this. I'll change the farming layout when I'm next using it.
If you think 4 hogs is enough for each AD in these new positions then come get me (@2350) ace and I'll post the replay! :)
If I was you, I'd leave the heros outside of the core of the farming layout, in exchange of air defenses. I leave the heros sleeping all the time anyways, I find it sad to see them get killed by a hand full of T1 units. Not to mention the amount of time it takes them to recover.
Amazing and well-developed base.
This is one base I'm sure I'd "next".
Love the defense replays also.
