This was a classic example of 'spray and pray'. Add a few heal spells and this will probably crush any TH8 and maybe two star a TH9 with some luck. To do any damage at TH10 it needs a lot of luck. That's where the praying bit comes in. Most people start out their looning adventures doing spray and pray. It's really easy and doesn't take much thought beyond timing the heals well.

The second attack is the one that's worth watching. Look at the precision. Every loon has a purpose. Nothing is wasted. Despite traps and CC being spent from the first attack I think he still would have convincingly won if I had them. It isn't perfect but mistakes made in this style of looning are much more forgiving.
A good loon attack is a safe bet for that 50% star. Spray and pray is like doing the lottery.
