I guess the playerbase is pretty much divided on this. Some people like the update because they don't need to 2nd guess where to put wallbreakers anymore but there are others like me who absolutely hate it because it takes away the strategy of effectively using spikes and funnels on your walls..... So what's your opinion?

I love it because now my giants don't have to pound on Lv 9-10 walls forever to get through. I think this improved AI balances out the defense with the offense. Defense with Lv 9-10 walls were just way too much...
Although I have to redo the designs of my base which always used spikes, I think the spikes do not make common sense and should not be there. It is common sense for wall breakers to do what they are supposed to do in the upcoming update.

As a mod though, I can tell you this. Wallbreaker behavior/AI has been a top-5 complaint for months both on the forums and during clan visits. I'm sure it ranked high on the list with Facebook/Twitter and Support ticket complaints too. I was going to link a bunch of complaint threads, but I quit looking at about 25 recent ones - they're easy enough to find with a search. Point is, the Forums have been screaming for a change forever. As a result, the devs took all the feedback, and came up with a system they think is better.
Give it a chance.
The problem is everyone is going to raise hell because they are "spoiled" since they knew how to abuse WBs in their previous form. Clearly the change is good for the game if you aren't looking at it in a "oh no, now my base can actually be raided!" point of view... Guess what? Your base should never have been so easy to defend due to weak AI to begin with...they should've never launched the game with them functioning like that previously. If people want to pitch a hissy fit about it then move your storages outside your defenses etc :)
