When I started playing i entered a stupid name as my game name. I was just trying the game out and didn't expect to get hooked. Well over a year has gone by and I've progressed quite far, but still have this name.
I've contacted support about changing it and was told no. They basically said if they helped one person out they'd have to help everyone. I do understand that, but they should... we support them, they should support us... At the very least make it a purchase option.
Why not?
If your IGN is your real name or something offensive they will change it for you. Multiple people have had their IGNs changed because it was either their real name or something offensive. I had a friend with the IGN of @$$. He got it changed to Lithium Rain. This is one example. There is also a pretty popular forumer/player/YouTuber who recently changed his name to Tyrael because his original name was offensive to Germans. If your name is offensive or your real name have another go at the support email:cool:
it would be easier for trollers, scammers, etc

Sadly it is the case. For example if my name was Jon Lewis i used jlewis as my IGN. Support refused to change it. I even contacted them again and was told no again. I believe it's just stupid.Quote:

Thanks for your opinion, but as I've said, I disagree. Many other systems and games allow it and the users on those can mange it.
What about a mod or supercell support person? Is there a technical reason?

They could possibly create a "nickname" and "username" to clear up the confusion and make players happy. The nickname would be your display name, but when you check their profile, it'll show the name they signed up with, with their nickname in quotes next to it.

Ik. And it an annoying and impossible change for developers anyway as usernames are unique. The current usernames are more like nicknames, therefore it can not work as we can not have millions of people, many that have deleted the game, make usernames or change names.Quote:

Guy who doesn't talk much joins a clan. Is with them for a few weeks. He decides to change his name and he doesn't tell anyone. Suddenly a co-leader sees some weird guy in the clan he doesn't recognize.

Microsoft is bit bigger company also. Supercell is a small company with a huge player base compared to their size. Mobile gaming industry being what it is Supercell is also one trend away from being out of business. Even today their support is swamped by player request with weeks of backlog. Think of this as a good suggestion when they implent it and 500k subscribers changes their name into "Daddy" and then you are butthurt, because you can't find the real "Daddy" anymore.

When I began the game it already had my game centre name in the slot (::bailz7::) , so i just added the m after thinking i could change it later... When I found out you couldn't change it i was pretty annoyed! Accept if i changed it. It would only be to please me! If it's not your full name or offending anyone your just gunna have to stick with it :/
a clanny of mine has a gibberish name thinking the same as I did lol
