Can the people posting spam be banned from the forum? please clean it up is a mess :(
I agree. There's been a lot of it today!
Can we bump the nice threads by posting on them until the mods can block the spammer?
the spammer continues to post even now
we need a way to report users like these. The whole first page was spam treads. It took over 1 hour for the moderaters to react.
Edit: the moderaters have still not delt with the problem, the treads are stil there, just not on all of the first page
3 hour of spam now over 27 new treads created by the spammer and stil no moderaters in sight..........
Oops. Sorry about that.
Did some spring cleaning :o
I don't think banning the forum user's account does anything. All they do is make more disposable accounts, unless mods can get an IP ban in place, that might slow them down enough to deter them from harassing this particular forum.
There is a way to report these users. Click on the little box (kinda hard to see) in the left corner of the offensive thread to report the post. You may also PM the link of the thread to a mod to help them become aware of the thread.
It definitely has become quite a problem over the past few months, but like Aaron stated, once these offenders are banned, they can just return and create a new account. :(
Thanks- found it now :)
Wow, another crazy spam day. Why do people even do this? Or is it just like robo-calls for computers?
I've reported all of them. Hopefully they will be gone soon...
Great more spam. I'm sure it's from the same person as the other day. They just registered under a new account. It's not going to do any good if we keep reporting them. They'll just make new accounts & keep spamming the forums. I hope the mods can do something.
Ive noticed theres been more of it recently. I thought mods have ability to do an IP ban
Here we go again! More spam today...
Unfortunataly they get round an ip ban by using a proxy / ip hiding software, or a VPN which are easy to find on the net.
They are a bane to any forum and the last thing SC want is the spammers blocking up their servers!
besides the report button might be good idea to pm the mods so they are aware of these posts and can delete them.
Someone else said it's no use reporting, believe me if we didn't report it there would be a lot more spam on the forums.
Hi-
it is very important to report the spam because that is how the mods are alerted and know to remove the threads. Just click on the small icon in the lower left corner of the spam thread to report it. You can only report one thread every 60 seconds which is a pain when there are so many but definitely worthwhile. I
have attached a copy of the icon below and be advised spam can only be reported when logged in to the forum.

I guess we need more mods with time to be on in different times zones.
Oh they are on but I know they have been very busy lately. The COC forum is crazy busy and that game is played by more young kids than Hay Day. We are more easy going and pretty well behaved. Plus the same people posting spam here are posting it there too. If the spam gets reported they will delete it. I have gone days where I've reported three each time I log on. And they get deleted in good time. Just give them a chance and they will get here. And to the person who said reporting it does no good. You are wrong, you just need to have a little patience. Our mods are volunteers. They don't get paid to do this. And in the grand scheme of things, Spam is not that important. Just don't respond to it and it will fall down to the bottom until it can be deleted. The spammers have bots that put this stuff up. Our mods are just regular people
Ok sorry i think everyone misunderstood my last post. I didn't mean it exactly as it came out. I meant yes we can report it & yes it'll help. But it's not going to do any good if we can't ban that person from on the forums all together. I know a few people mentioned an IP ban & that's what I meant. I wasn't saying reporting something is useless. So sorry for the misunderstaning.
Oh good. I didn't think you meant it that way, but I didn't want anyone to think the reports were ignored by the mods.
But yes in a sense, we can't completely stop the spammers. I used to get them on the feedback section of my own website until I enabled moderation of all comments and posts. Many blogs do that but it would crash this forum and make it useless. These creeps have ways to get around bans and IP blocks just like the telemarketer and robocallers get around the laws we have in the US that are supposed to stop them. They just go overseas and call from a country that doesn't honor the laws and spoof their number to look like it comes from the same state.
I always wondered why they bothered since we all knew they were spammers but some people respond to them angrily which keeps them near the top and some people click on their links. As long as people do that, they get paid and will continue.
and again today....
cant admin just block them by IP?
i'm shocked to still be seeing this today.
i meant no offence, i usually see admins handle these spammer quite quickly.
Admins can and do block IPs but there are devices that can circumvent the broadcasted IP. It's a spammers tool of trade.
When the spam is too much, report one or two and head to the farm.
I have a question for the mods. I generally report spam the minute I see it and I usually see it pretty quickly. I always wonder though just how many people actually report it and how many just assume someone already did. I know each spam report sends an email to each mod and clearing out excess email can be a pain, so.....Would it help you all if whoever reports it, responds to the post indicating that is has been reported? That way others who also see it won't report it multiple times and others who might want to report it won't have to wonder if someone already did.
Does that make sense?
Ooh that would be great, then the next time someone attacks me on the forum for not agreeing with them, I can take out my frustration on the spammers PM. It would be kinda hard for the spammer to report me for a nasty PM right?
Edit. I'm kidding. Pain pils are wonderful!!!!
Come on! Who are you to stand in the way of the good folks on the forum seeing great movies for free?!?
I do report every spam post I see. I personally hesitate to add a reported post comment. While it does alert other posters that a report has been made, it also bumps the thread up to the top and shows that a legitimate member was the last commenter. I worry that both of these things might lead to more views and help accomplish the spammer's goal.
I too report spam when i see it - but it does sometime time a long time before its removed.
The current " movie" thread has been there for 4 hours now - and i have reported it 3 times now with hours in between.
i have never been on a site where reporting spam have been more hidden, and where it takes so long for the mods to remove the posts. I agree with tigger please tell us if there is ny more we can do to get tbe spam removed.
The report button isn't exactly hidden, but the last forum remake might have done something. It seems that the report triangle doesn't show up as well in internet explorer as it does in Firefox and Safari.
As for why it is taking so long. Clash of clans just added something called clan wars and the kids over there are really going crazy. One day there was something like 350 threads in a short time all in the wrong place. They have two sub forums for joining clans and recruiting clan members and when they post multiple times in multiple places, things get really messy. So the mods have been super busy over there trying to maintain order. There is just one mod who doesn't play COC and she spends the majority of her time here, but the poor girl has to sleep and take care of her kids etc. remember these folks are volunteers. Some of the kids who play that game can get really obnoxious. I've never seen so many banned members in relatively recent posts. I guess keeping order is more important than deleting a thread we can just ignore.
The last spammer didn't just post one thread we could simply ignore, they managed to post one thread per minute for over an hour. Two full pages of forum, 60 plus posts, was nothing but spam, hard to ignore. Just setting the record straight.
Have a wonderful Hayday.
Thank you for reporting the spam. It really helps us.
Please never ever respond to spam for the following reasons:
1/ it bumps the spam thread to the top where it is seen by more people
2/ 90% of the time it's a robot, not a human being. They cannot read your reply
3/ you may be accidentally banned along with the bot
4/ abusive messages? I've never heard of this before, but its a pretty good reason not to respond.
So the best thing you all can do is to please report the spam, and not respond. We will delete it as soon as we read the report. I'm sorry if this sometimes takes longer than 15 minutes, we act as soon as possible.
Case in point...I just reported spam that has now been up for 4 hours.
i reported that post within the first hour, and it now been up for 7 hours or more with several people reporting.............
I have any idea. Being a mod is a pain in the neck. A job I wouldn't want. Maybe they should have a position called "mod in charge of spam". I can imagine a few people who would be great at the post. Whadaya think? They can just be in charge of spam. No need to learn the other games, or deal with the rowdy clashers or referee our disagreements, just delete spam on all three games, at all times, including holidays and weekends and of course the middle of the night. Any volunteers? It's clear they need help.
Sorry about that guys, it should be gone now (apologies if I missed any of them).
Fair point about the spam. We've all been too busy IRL this weekend and obviously have let things slide in that department. My apologies.
A mod who does nothing but delete spam? Oh my, I wouldn't wish that job on anyone! For every spam post you see, there are ten moderated spam posts that are thankfully only visible to mods. Once I deleted 300 spam posts in one sitting, and it was mind numbing, but at least I had other mod duties to relieve the boredom.
Kudos to anyone who puts their hand up for that job!;)
Why doesn't supercell hire somebody to delete the spam every 30 mins. They have the cash flow.
Thanks for the vote of confidence, everyone, but I don't know if I am the right one for the job. However, it is apparent that more mods are needed.
On the forum that I work for, we all have "IRL" things going on, too. However, we have people that tend to be "on" at different times. We have late nighters, early morning people, weekday posters, weekend posters, etc. They key is that we are people that read and post anyway, so we are already reading, so taking care of moderating duties meshes with what we already do.
If spam is staying up for hours upon end, that means that no mod is even looking at this forum during that time. Again, to me, that is unacceptable.
Since we are again being spammed I thought I'd see if any of you have solutions, plus this will at least push them down the page another notch! Sorry mods if this is the wrong place.
I'm wondering, as many spammers are robots and not people, whether word recognition verification could be initiated for new forum users such as myself. Maybe just for the first three times we post after registration?
I enjoy this forum and don't want it ruined.
I seem to remember being a member of a forum (can't remember now which one), where the first few posts were moderated, then after that you could post freely. Seems like they might need a few more moderators though for that. Maybe they should appoint a Spamerator for each subforum. :)
Our spam/lack of moderators problem continues. We have multiple spam posts up on the board for 5+ hours, reports have been made and no action taken.
Have you submitted a request to join the mod ranks yet?
