Attacked 8 times in 25 mins, and suspiciously won - weird tactic?

I am pretty new to the game so forgive me if this has already been asked.

I noticed today while I was gone from the game all day, that I got attacked 8 times in a row, just 2-3 mins apart, all by players with much higher trophy levels than me. My setup is not that amazing and I somehow won all of the attacks with only 0-20% damage each time. Each attack boosted my trophy level about 25 trophies each time. I went from 400's-700's all while I wasn't even playing, then got attacked twice by two 700 level players who both defeated me 100% and took lots of resources.

This seemed like some weird ploy to boost a lower lever player (me) quickly to then become an easy attack by a higher level player since I had not been able to increase my personal skills and experience in that time.

Is this a thing? Was it coincidence?

I feel really far behind now compared to others at my same trophy level.

First off, great name, but on topic now:

This is an odd interest by high level (even players in the range of level 80+ which I know sounds scary high but really isn't crazy high) to get below 200 trophies. The loot down there is really weird and can be good, so many high level players, myself included, will attack random enemies and drop one troop and surrender in order to lose the battle and lose trophies to get to sub 200.

I suggest you do that as well and get back into a good farming range, if you feel behind everyone you probably are! happy hunting

The attacks were not really attacks. Players, myself included will regularly drop trophy's to different levels of ranges. This is done by nexting and randomly dropping 1+ troop onto a base and exiting out. The reward goes to that base.

First off, let me say that I am NO expert at COC, but I do think I know a little about this. So to begin, what was the trophy count of these players? The matchmaking algorithm that SuperCell employs doesn't allow bases that have highly varying trophy counts to attack each other. For instance someone who has 400 trophies, like yourself, wouldn't be attacked by someone who has 1000 trophies. In saying this, supercell only takes into account the trophy count of the different Clashers, not their over-all level. I believe what happened was that a high level player was dropping trophies, losing them on purpose, to get to zero trophies, where they can lie under the radar and be attacked less frequently, allowing them to keep their resources and upgrade their base. So, while in the 400 trophy range, its highly likely to have this happen, where a higher level Clasher is dropping trophies by just placing their BK or AQ on your base during attack, and then forfeit the battle without losing expendable troops.

To answer your question of asking if this was a weird tactic, I would have to say no. The Clashers attacking your account are attacking it at random, they can't all plan to attack your base, to raise your trophy count, so that others can attack it and three-star your base. It's simply a strategy adopted by many high-level players that allows them to upgrade their base without getting attacked.
