You need a 3 layered base. The inner layer have xbows and infernos, middle layer no defensive buildings and outer layer all defensive buildings. That way hogs run around the outside of your base getting picked off by your inner layer defenses without touching your middle layer. Not sure if that makes sence, visit my base to see one.
