Has CoC just got a bit too serious?

General thought, or observation here, the new update got me wondering who would get genuinely excited about this game anymore. Maybe new players, maybe kids. But the more experienced? The fourm seems to indicate a massive amount of complaining about stuff (lightning on dex storage, gemmers, cost of upgrades etc), or über highbrow tactical supposition and statistics. I mean, wow, spreadsheets of troop costs to put together advanced formation for "perfect" farming?
I am hugely impressed that folks take this game so seriously, but has it gone too far?
after all, CoC is just a bunch of troops bashing things up and looting. It was really fun when I started in August 2012, but apart from 'epic fail' stories, I don't see the humour in the same amount.
I love the game and co tinue playing, so am hoping someone out there can show their enjoyment!

Once you progress, in every strategic game, progressing more gets harder. People who got the will would keep up, who can't would just quit.

Illustris made a post just now sharing his excitement for this subject. He is an experienced player. I to am looking forward to this update, unless of course it cause farming to cease...

Excellent! Trauma is also my specialty, but more the effect of trauma on psychological functioning. And we play war games. Yowza, gotta love them idiots...

I'm excited for the update, looks interesting... I'm a level 88 and what you'd call experienced.

I think people on the forums are too critical of new free content on a free game. I imagine the majority of the people that play coc are looking forward to the update, just don't share it. ;)

I'm in UK qualified in medicine and surgery degrees. Also masters in medical law and ethics.

Elixir is super easy to gain and its always overflowing out of my storages. So 6mil elixir is peanuts in comparison to gold.

I honestly agree with you. This game has become a little too stagnant. I really do wish that it is a bit more skill based, or actually let us "clash clans" and introduce clan battles. New troops? What is that going to achieve lol. Who is even going to bother wasting their precious DE raiding with them consistently... If they are going to make it easier to obtain DE then i even feel bad for those who gemmed for it lol. Before I get told to put my mines and storages outside my walls, I will not quit just yet. I am too OCD to have some un-finished buildings :D

I'm excited about the update.. playing merely 3 months into coc, I wouldn't call myself experienced.

Then again, this is my style when playing strategy-based game, i like to dig into the game mechanics and explore.

And although it can get buggy at times(3% of the time ?) its a really solid game and I find its future very promising.

And some might disagree, but certain types of games are meant to be played seriously :p

My sister considers strategies such as farming and common base designs like spiking taking the game too seriously, emphasis on farming, then again she considers playing any game competitively is too serious.
