I open my game a lot of times around the day but I can't manage to have all my animals fed.
The pigs, goats and sheep eat less but the cows and chickens OMG. My mill is constantly on but there's always a hungry animal...

This is the first machine I have doubts over purchasing or not.
I don't have enough money yet (remember my 3-year-old spending habits ;) )but I wanted a new addition to my farm and the only one available is the Jam Maker.
However it doesn't appeal to me very much. I don't see many jams in RSS so I guess they don't sell well.
Any feedback?
Perhaps tonight I will write: I have a new jam maker, my son bought it to feed the cows LOL
Getting both feed mills and maxing out the production queues really helps.
I use one mill to make the cow and chicken feed.
I use the second one to make the pig, sheep and goat feed.
I never run out. Matter of fact, I end up making excess cow feed and selling it off.
And the reason you don't see jam on the RSS is because not too many sell it since it takes so long to make. It sells VERY well on RSS. They are the holy grail of RSS finds.
Absolutely agree with Xandrasky, Jam is the one thing that higher level farmers will buy without blinking if they have the chance, which they don't very often - hehe! If you get one it will take HOURS to make but it will be one machine you have going constantly and when boats start asking for jam, which they will, you'll need a good store and very lovely neighbours to help you:rolleyes:
Good luck:D
We have 2 feed mills and all the production slots are expanded. We BALANCE the feed in both mills at the same time so we get 2x the feed in 1/2 the time -- and we only made goat food overnight when we were working on mastery.
EXAMPLE:
Mill 1 cycle 1: cow cow cow cow cow pig pig pig pig
Mil 2 cycle 1: cow cow cow cow cow pig pig pig pig
Mill 1 cycle 2: pig sheep sheep sheep sheep sheep chicken chicken chicken
Mill 2 cycle 2: pig sheep sheep sheep sheep sheep chicken chicken chicken
Mill 1 cycle 3: chicken chicken chicken cow cow cow cow cow chicken
Mill 2 cycle 3: chicken chicken chicken cow cow cow cow cow chicken
We keep enough food in the barn to feed pigs sheep and goats 2x, cows 3-4x and chickens 5x. This works for us :)
Wow PeryCox, I'm very impressed with your stratigie to be honest I just bung mine in , but always do my goat feed over night or when I'm going out. My hubby goes absolutly barmy when were just about to leave the house & Im dashing back to put my goat feed (& goats cheese) in . And not to mention trying to get the feed mill mastered in this millennium
All that said you definatly need two feed mills to stay on top of them greedy animals. And although the jam maker takes soooooo long ,I thing it's a valuable machine to have. You very rarely come across jams in the DD , you will get truck & boat orders asking for jams but also you need jam when you get the candy machine , to make the jelly beans .
I have tried various strategies with the feed mills and the one that suits me at the moment ( level 55 or so) is to use one exclusively for cow feed and the other pig pig sheep goat pig pig sheep goat etc. not producing any chicken feed, just buying bargain eggs and wool when I see them. I know I am missing out on Xp from harvesting eggs and wool but this is working for me at the moment as I don't have the higher level machines yet that need eggs, and wool products are only any good for boat and truck orders, they don't sell, so I just make enough and don't hold a big stock.
For a while I did produce cow cow cow chicken chicken cow cow cow etc but got fed up of not being able to get cow feed if chicken feed was in the way when stacked and my barn was nearly full.
i've also done the matching feed mill thing so that you harvest identical from each at a time but I always come up against the barn full problem.
My animals always have food, but you really need both feed mills and all your slots expanded (which cost diamonds but well worth it). Also, I don't have all the animal stalls, 3 cows, 3 piggies, 3 chickens, 2 goat and 2 sheep, I find that is more than enough for me :)
In the 1st mill I put 5 cow and 4 sheep (I will have 2 sheep feed to float to the next feeding). 2nd mill I put 5 pig and 3 goat (which will leave me an extra feed again). I put the chicken feed on the end, or I will just produce food for my chicken after I have collected from my mill and add it on the end or just make it before I fill my mill again. This works for me and I don't keep a lot of extra feed in my barn, my space is much too valuable :p
Also, I agree about the jam maker, jams are premium items and we like to hoard them...lol
There, I admit it, I'm a jam hoarder!:o:rolleyes: Lol
happy farming !
