Should i go to th9 or upgrade my walls? I was th8 for almost 10 months because i was premature. If i go to th9 i will upgrade my walls then. I will spend a lot more time in th9 because i wanna max my de stuff and my walls to lvl 8/9.
I have a friend who just turned th9. He Maxed out his th8 completely and now he is more than prepared to take on th9. Finish the walls.( Plus I'm currently doing my level 8 walls. would have been nice if i did them th8)
Finish your walls man, next time do a few in-between upgrades, that way it won't feel like such a chore at the end.
I actually have only 10 more lvl 8 walls to do at th8 before i'm entirely maxed. Its a long process but its well worth it in the end. The loot doesnt get better either.
I had lvl 5/6 walls when i upgraded to th8. So i had a lot of time focused on the walls.Quote:

It probably sounds a bit crazy, but if you think about it the only time someone attacks your base is when they know for a fact they'll beat you so what's the point other than the appearance of the walls prior to trophy pushing?
Although, I guess with my theory I might as well not upgrade any defenses. But I do enjoy raiding, so there's that and I do feel some accomplishment upgrading my mortars/towers/cannons/teslas to max.
The whole game is a time sink of course, but walls seem like an unnecessary time sink that SC has deliberately put into the game to get people to gem or spend more time in the game, which just isn't needed to enjoy the game.
So take some time to think it through, it may surprise you that despite having better walls it might not matter as the right person will always come along that will beat you no matter what level your walls are.

i just got my skull walls done last week and I'm just maxing my collectors before I can go to TH9. Everything else is maxed out. I've read comments about maxing walls at TH8 because you're to going to have a harder time upgrading them at TH9 because of loot penalty.
I am OCD so upgraded mine and I'm glad I did it. Passing by TH7's now (as a TH9) that would have given me bigs loots at TH8 is frustrating!

It's not just me... for the proof look at the farming competition on general section of this forum... Those who get the most loot is TH9 guys.
loot penalty is for th9 people farming on bronze or silver league
While I agree with the rest of your post I have to point out that walls take 0 seconds to upgrade, so I wouldn't consider them a time sink... only if you count in the time it takes to get the gold. Then again that is irrelevant I think because attacking is usually the most fun part of the game and the excess gold has to be put some somewhere, so why not into the walls.Quote:

Finish your walls! I did that and now on TH9 the new 25 up to skulls was a walk in the park. Now when I have 250 skulls all 5 builders are working hard on defence and even if some upgrades are pretty expensive I have no problem getting gold for that, because I don't have to do walls now.
Might be doing Lego in the future, but skulls are good enough and look so cool.
Hit the button! No sense of jus having walls to do and sleeping builders. just upgrade walls as ur TH upgrades. Go to th9 get max troops and finish ur walls then. Thats what I have done and haven't looked back!

I have two accts, one was a maxed TH8 and the other is a rush job that I did to donate strong troops..
my main (maxed) base has all skull walls and I have zero regrets about maxing even though it took much longer.
my alt, has about 20 skulls and the base holds up pretty well in the mean time. on this acct I feel the sting of rushing as lab upgrades are behind, and defenses are much lower than my main (obviously) but if IME lvl 7 walls serve their purpose quite well. I was able to get my CC done very early even with my WAY premie defenses.. but I will admit the loots are taken more often on this alt.. (all fixed by more raiding tho, so an active schedule of raids will trump the premie wall and turret situation..) plus you can sink a lot of your gold into walls before you log off at night if you aren't saving for a HUGE upgrade, and a builder is free.
so if your def turrets are maxed then walls should not hold you back if the are all lvl7..
Id say to upgrade now, get your 40k Dark while your TH upgrades so you can get the queen right away. have full storages to get at least one X-bow going right away, (I did both, just cus..) and make the new buildings and start enjoying the TH9 farming. stay in Gold 2-1 and farm your level 6 troops ( may wanna stay in gold 3 until you get some of your lvl 6 troops going)

While TH Max enthusiasts are building walls and letting builders be lazy I moved my TH forward.
I went really early to TH 9 so I get get the archers. I stayed at TH 9 until I got everything but two archer towers to max (excluding the walls). My walls were all level 7 at this point.
The benefit?
I have noticed zero penalty in the amount of loot I can find. I loot more now with a larger quantity of better troops then I ever did at lower TH levels.
I have an extra Mine, Drill, and 2 more Dark Drills than a TH8. That means on a constant basis I collect 6.667 times more dark elixer than a TH8, plus 3,000 more gold and elixer per hour. Do you think that amount of gold is inconsequential? Thats over 2Million gold per month for free (assuming I collect it and it is not stolen).
Now I have my Infernos and xbows max and I am finally working on my LVL8 (Skull) walls. I am getting about 10-20 done per day. That is a much faster pace than I was getting my LVL6 walls done at TH8.
To each his own. Walls never are the reason I am scared away from a base and my walls are rarely the reason that I lose.
Also, TH 9's are sitting ducks for Hogs.
Objection! being a maxing enthusiast doesn't mean you have builders sleeping. I left my traps till my th was upgrading and spent my 10 days doing them. and also i agree, th9 loot is WAY better. i've had 2 1 million raids since upgrading and am constantly maxing my storage's. u will be attacked by TH10s more who have lvl 6 wall breakers, and with 1 it only leaves them lvl 7 walls left with 100 HP. stay and upgrade them to lvl 8, it will be a huge setback if u do it at TH9
This is my current debate with myself. I will have all my teslas, air, mortars, and wiz towers maxed on both my accounts by May 1st. On one account, i am working on skulls while the other I still have 80 pink walls to upgrade.
So, as soon as my last tesla is 10days from completion, I will hit that th9 upgrade on both, independent of walls or other upgrades.
Will I run a few walls short? Maybe. But once I can rest one builder, I will wall farm like crazy. And we will see how it goes. I am a balloon guy anyway, so I love hitting th9s with bad air defense. I ignore the color of their walls, as the only troop I am going drop on the ground is my king or my clan castle.
So, I will do as many walls as I can, but it will not hold me back. Lvl6 balloons are calling.
You should max them out while in TH8. Teslas take forever to complete. Those days spent in them should be spent with maxing out splash defenses(lvl 7 in TH9). And there's the x-bows by the way.Quote:
