You need it for the tutorial..

Also I saw a lvl50 th10 in champs several days back, also with no defenses. His clan was number2 for a few hrs after the new season began. His name was Fang (or Feng?) in a clan named Hai(somethingsomething)... Can't recall the clan name.

Did you post videos of your journey on youtube? If not oh well. Many people have actually done the defenseless champion journey, but none have posted their journey to champ league on youtube.
