the whole point is cw is to not have ppl opt-out..
best way to opt out is to leave the clan

Just got to work and I'll start trying to get all of Sneaky Dave's answers edited into the OP, and I'll change the answers that SC has changed up. Be patient, I'll have it done soon as I can :-)
I would like to know more about the way the clan castle works during the prep phase. Like once the clan castle is filled and locked in do you hold the same troops on every attack even if they're destroyed during a previous attack? Do the same donation limitations apply in the prep phase? Are the prep phase troops also used for attacking?
Update Release 22nd April?
I read it some times in the Wiki, is it right?
20 Days Ressource Boost (My heart is bouncing) ;)
AND is this CC lvl 6?

Can you check the opponents war base's cc while scouting it?
Thank you for taking time to answer these questions!
From my understanding, it has nothing to do with how your clan is being matched with another clan, but it is still taken into account when selecting which members will be participating in the CW, as well as for selecting opponents.
Do I understand it correctly that the system will select oponents in both clans, or will you be able to discuss that within your clan ?
"clan castles can contain loot now."
Sounds like the loot that we win after a war goes into our cc and can be looted?
I'm curious how this works, something I haven't figured out yet. I assume if we use it then it can't be looted, but I would like to hear more about how this works.
Wait so will only 30 people from each clan get to participate?
It seems cc loot doesn't increase our storage capacity maximum, which raises a few questions. Will my expenses come from my storages and only come from the clan castle if i run out of resources in the storages? Or will the cc res be spent first before loot in storage? What percentage of loot is available from the cc?
Am i wrong? Will cc res raise the maximum capacity of each type of loot? It doesn't seem to have in any of the videos...
People need to read the whole thread instead of asking the same question over and over again. It doesn't take long to find a Mod answering questions. I mean Pages 20-28 all those questions were answered by Sneakydave...
No the 30 people limit is no longer true.
This was debunked. Everyone can participate if its a 50vs50 war. If its 50vs 48, then only the top 45 from each clan will be on defense in the war, but everyone still can make attacks...
I believe this is the official stance now. There has been some conflicting messages from the mods here :|
If anyone has questions start reading from page 24 and on because SneakyDave was on earlier answering tons of questions! I seriously recommend you check it out before you guys ask the same questions over and over :o
Hey, all questions Dave answered have been edited into the OP, and I corrected the answers Dave said have changed. If more questions get a green or red to answer I'll edit it again. If you notice anything I may have missed please PM me. Thanks for all the great questions guys. Thread started with just a few of my questions and has evolved a ton, and I feel like I've learned a heck of a lot. Hope y'all do too.
I guess gemmers will have a advantage of donating strong troops to clan mates making it easier to win stars, maybe I should join a gemmers clan ?
Very informative, more so after i read all the pages, took all of 15 mins. I suggest the rest of you try it before posting the same questions over and over and over again but thats a dream just like my lvl 7 unicorn troop! Anyway i have a question that probably cant be answered but...
Why the small storages on the clan castle? I dont see the purpose in it. I mean i get more storage space, but why not just add another level to storages or add more. Is there some reason for this linked to clan wars itself?
So only the top 30 members can compete? Can someone confirm this! J/k
What I'm seeing is that a lot of people from pages 20+ are repeating questions that have been answered many times by the helpful people active on this thread. You guys need to read the OP before asking your question as this just clutters the pages:rolleyes: Anarchos is doing a great job putting all the unanswered questions into the OP with answers just below. Let's not waste his work:cool:
What's clan wars. Can anyone send me a photo of it
Ok I looked at all the questions and this was not one of them the loot you win from CW can u spend it like normal loot and is it the first to be spent or the last i am wondering about this so will the max gold and elixir you can hold now be 9.5 mil? Plz tell me
Reading this thread was kind of like going through groundhog day... The same question that has already been answered asked over and over and over....
JUST READ THE THREAD!!!
Thank you very much OP for organising this and thanks to sneakydave for all his best efforts to answer the many questions.
It has proven very informative!
Thank you very much! It answered to me a lot of questions. It's been very helpful! :D
The question wasn't asked on the page I asked, nor was it on the OP. I spent hours yesterday dissecting the rules of clan wars, I did not feel like going over 30 pages on my cell phone. SC should have had a FAQ and guide introduced the very first minute clan wars was announced.
What kind of rewards / loot bonus are we looking at for winning a clan war or participating? Will it be something substantial and useful?
how many days, weeks or months until the actual release of the update?
The one thing I would like answered is this....
Has information that the mods have changed?
http://i.imgur.com/IQo1EQZ.jpg
Earlier it was stated about the top30 bases only being used for defense, but then sneakydave said a number of times that this is not the case...
http://i.imgur.com/BM2k3b3.jpg
So has the information that mods have changed?
Or have mods misinterpreted the information?
Thanks
and sorry dont mean to cause a fuss
:)
I believe they are currently making the FAQ and will have it released very soon. I doubt they could have made a fully working FAQ before the initial reveal because everyone thinks differently and comes up with many many different questions, and not all could have been anticipated.
Anytime! glad I could clear it up.
Haha we need more sneak peaks. This is confusing
Hopefully they have all gotten their facts straight and will be saying the same things. I certainly appreciate what they're doing, but they caused a decent bit of confusion themselves.
Also not too excited about the fact that cup count is used to select the individuals in each clan. I was really hoping it would utilize the same matchmaking criteria used to match up the clans themselves, so the strongest 40 members based on TH level, hero level, wall level, and defenses would be selected - regardless of current trophy count. I think this would be much better and would not, in any way, affect the game outside CW as now people will have to go on mini pushes to participate.
Has there been any new YouTube videos today?
Heroes that are upgrading will still be active during CW defense. Will upgrading heroes be useable during CW attacks?
Haven't had a chance to watch them yet but it looks like two new videos are out:

Godson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owGIO4FLlQQ
Clans are ranked based off trophies. It's weighted however. The top 10 players trophy count makes up for 50% of the clan, while the bottom players (not sure if it's bottom 1, 2, or 3) make up only like 3%.
Using bases from the top 30 (or however many are eligible to participate) trophy players bases make sense and the programming would be easier than if they wanted the 30 most advanced bases regardless of trophy count. Experience level is too skewed to be a reliable factor to search for the top players, so trophies make sense.
Imagine how long it would take to find a match if every time you hit the find a match button the server had to query every base in your clan and decipher which was the strongest? Matchmaking would take forever.
I might not have explained it well. I know how current clans are ranked. I am saying for the purposes of clan wars only, clans are matched based on overall strength (yet to be determined, based on walls, heroes, defenses, etc). Within each clan, members are ranked based on trophies. That is the part I don't like. If you already are putting in separate programming to evaluate walls, heroes, defense, etc, why not use that to rank each individual clan member as you rank the clan itself? Experience level would never factor in for any system.
Just thought of this - sincere apologies if its been asked already.
One of the youtubers mentioned 1.5Million as the max gold/elixir storage of the CC and 5K as the max DE storage of the CC. Is my max storage now bumped up to 9.5 million of gold / elixir?
I think there's a disconnect. Clan Wars matchmaking is not utilizing trophies. It is not utilizing the Clan Total Points either.
Clan matchmaking is only using hero level, defenses, etc. etc. to match two clans together. But then, for some reason, they decided to use trophy count to choose the players. The game has already deciphered each player's base strength. It had to to match the two clans together. So why can't it use that very same functionality to choose the players who participate?
edit: Pete explained it well!
I understand. However if say your clan has 50 players available to participate, when you click the match button it takes your 30 top players based off their trophy level and uses their bases for matching up THs, heros, defenses, and walls.
This his was the information given 24 hours ago when SC first was saying only 30 members would be used from each clan. Now they're saying up to 50 can participate. So it's possible this information about trophies is obsolete. Or it's possible the top 30 are still used, then once a match is found all 50 get to attack/defend. To find out we'd need a mod or community manager to specify.
So basically if you're a farmer, you have to change your base layout ahead of every war?
Sounds like a lot of fun.
As I've seen the clan caste hosts loot. Will your storages expend to maximum of 9M?
Also, CW CC, does that only work for defense? Can you fill it if it is used or the troops inside ar killed during the war?
Trophy counts are alledgely used to determine which clan members participate in the war. That is what I have been saying this whole time.
For instance, your clan has 50 members, you go to war with a clan with 40 members. 40 members of your clan will be in the war. Which 40? Apparently the top 40 trophy counts within the clan. I would prefer it to be the top 40 bases in the clan. That is all.
I think Dave's quote is referring to what I tried (maybe poorly?) to explain. The actual match making system of clan wars does not take trophies into account, it takes into account TH level, hero levels, defense level, and wall level. However the system that tells the match making system what those levels are, does use trophies.
Sounds like there are 2 systems.
First system takes the top 30 players of a clan based purely off trophies, views their base for the average TH, average heros, average defenses, and average wall level. It then takes that information and calls it the "clan average."
then the system gives the "clan average" to the match making system and it finds another similarly built clan.
So the match making system itself doesn't actually use trophies when looking for a match, but trophies are used before hand.
If I'm wrong or not making sense and someone else thinks they can explain it further please do.
1. No, storage cap does not increase. You collect the loot from your cc as you would a mine or collector and it goes into your storage. Though it may be advantageous at times to leave loot in the cc if it turns out the percent lootable from the cc is very low and you cant spend it immediately.
2. Yes cw cc is only for defense.
2a. Troops killed on defense are immediately replenished. The same troops you were donated on preparation day will be on defense for every defense you encounter during the war.
Side note: for attack, you will be responsible for your requesting for troops in your cc, just like you will be responsible for building your troops spells and heroes before each of the two available clan war attacks you make.
^ This right here.
-The way I see Clan Wars at the moment-
1. Your clan leader hits the Matchmaking button for CWs. Your clan is put into a queue and the game uses an algorithm to determine how strong your clan is (using defenses, walls, troops, etc.).
2. Once a suitable opposing clan is found, a calculation of how many players that will participate is made (Pete's example fits here).
3. If all members of your clan can't participate because the opposition is smaller, the selection of who gets to fight is based off the current trophy count.
4. Then potentially, as slikk said, you are matched up with recommended bases (but you will be able to attack anyone from the opposition, hopefully).
Sorry if this had already been asked or brought up. There is a rumor going around that you are required to be in crystal league and up to participate in clan wars. Is this true? Or is there nothing to worry about here?
This is also my exact understanding so far. I think a flowchart/numbered layout like this is easier to understand, and can clear up some misconcetions. Maybe a mod could make a sticky?
To clarify #4 - You are given recommended bases right? But you can still choose who to attack? Because much of the strategy/teamwork aspect is the clan scouting bases and assigning members to attack them.
Further thought:
If I'm understanding it right, the optimal clan makeup would be 30 TH 1 players and 20 elite gemmers (talking in extremes for clarity), with the 30 TH 1 players all being above the 20 TH 10s in trophy count before the Clan Leader clicks the Matchmaking button.
So, it seems like you have to cook the troops for your attack...correct? Given that we are paired against players of equal base strength I will always end up paired against someone with a maxed out base(or close to it), so I would have to cook a GoWiWi for every Clan War to do my best?
You lost me here. Wouldn't the TH1s be selected to fight in the clan war then? Also, wouldn't their overall clan strength be very low? And thus be pitted agaisnt weak foes for weak rewards? I'm confident SC has thought of this type of stuff.
Also, there should be a leaderboard for both clan rating (based on the strength formula for clan wars matchmaking) and victories weighted by how tough of a clan you defeated.
Are the leaders and co leader always in the war even if they have the lowest amount of trophies?
Its a fair point. But look, winning the war is either worth it or not. If you decide it isn't worth it in time, fun, or resource gain, just don't do it.
Heck, your clan could also just have a chill policy when it comes to wars. You don't lose anything, so if all of you barch or something for one stars you probably won't win...but hey, who cares right?
You are right! If your clan match with the opponent with different number of players. Only the top trophy players are able to go to war.
As time goes by, I feel managing clan is much harder because
- you don't want low level players to participate in your clan or they may drag you down (the opponents will attack the easiest bases)
- low trophy players don't want to join your clan (because they are likely not allowed to go to war)
hence, the clan should consist of similar level & trophy members :)
Is there a donation limit for each clan member? Or can one member who has maxed troops donate to all his clan members?
