This is pretty much how I'm sure it will be. One or two players won't make a difference. You'd need at least 15-20 noobs to have an impact on your clan rating. Like everything in this game, things will seem really wonky for the first few weeks until the game finds its level.

There are too many variables not answered yet, and we can only hope that an in-depth guide is posted on how exactly the numbers are calculated. I forgot what it was like to be excited about this game.

Nice! But I hope they also include the ability so save bases. I don't want to change my layout to join the war then change it again for normal raiding and back.

Will clans receive any permanent score based on war victories? Can a clan that war is declared on take revenge on the attacking clan?

How will matchmaking be initiated?

Will it be 2 clans agreeing to be at war with one another? If so, both clans would need to initiate at the same time (or enter into some sort of matchmaking queue/waiting room). This is supported by the declaration of a winner of the war based on relative stars won by the 2 clans (presumably against each other).

Alternatively, it could be like current matchmaking where an offensive player is matched with a defensive player that has simply expressed an interest in being matched (i.e. the clan leader of the defense has initiated a war with someone else). This would allow for a more fluid matchmaking of clans against a pool of currently (or recently warring clans). However, it would make the declaration of a winner based on stars won a harder thing to grapple with.

I do agree with one of the earlier posters that this has brought a new level of excitement back to the game. We have been missing an unknown element for quite a while...

I read it as the system offering a number of matching clans and the (co)leader choosing to challenge one of them, who can choose to accept or decline.

What isn't clear is what movement in/out of clans can happen after the match has been agreed - if you agree a match but then can't get a number of players to build a trophy base you are going to want to kick them but that could be misused. Similarly, if top players can join after the match is made this too might undermine the 'fairness' of the battle. I kind of hope that the leader gets to nominate say 30 of the clan roster to take part, but only those people who were in the clan when the match was made

Sorry if this had been asked/answered already, but are they making it possible to save multiple base layouts to make it easier to switch your base for clan wars?

Looks interesting, although the limit to 2 battles per member really decreases the amount of activity it will bring to members willing to fight for their clan and remain engaged for clan wars. A max of 2 battles every two days isn't a huge addition of things to do, but on the other hand it does seem more fair that way, since it means it will be a test of the whole clan rather than just a few big hitters. I think clans like mine will benefit from this rule, but clans with lots of inactive (or even just less active) players are going to really hurt.

I personally really like the sneak peek week. I wish they hadn't hyped it so much in the past few weeks, but once peeks start then I don't mind the hype, just wish it was limited to one week... :)

Curious what the goblin attacking the barb means, will they do extra damage on defense? Attack cc troops instead of loot until they are all dead? I'm sure I have no clue, just very curious... :confused:

Have to say it looks like SC is finally putting out an update that matches the hype, can't wait!

This sounds very similar to the gree game modern war. There were many ways in that game to exploit the matchmaking in your favor.....mostly by adding low level players to your team. You still got some tough matchups, but the chances were much smaller by adding extras or players fledgling second accounts.

What about new players who join your clan after war has been declared, will they be able to battle? A weak clan could declare war and then have a bunch of strong players join. The flip side is that if I join after a war has started I would have to wait for the next one.

From what I gathered, there is a cooldown for players who were previously in a clan war, and anything else is fair game. That leads on to another scenario similar to what you suggested. A clan war battle starts between clan Apple and clan Bear; Apple is situated in Australia, Bear is located mainly around the western hemisphere, west coast in California to be extreme. As the previous poster just asked, can (co) leaders reject? If not, Apple manages to pull off most attacks against the other clan, then proceeds to boot all of their members. Bear can now potentially get up to 60 stars, whereas Apple already had 75.

I am sure counter measures have been brought into place to prevent these scenarios, but nothing has really been explained yet. I just want to gather all of the information before the update, because I am the only one in my clan who visits the forums.

The videos said after a set period of time bases were fixed for the entire battle. Possibly at the start of the two days. It is very doubtful new members will be able to compete if they enter in the middle of a clan war.

Getting back to the the op, do any of the moderators with direct knowledge have any input on how matchmaking will work? Is the matchmaking based on an avg, total score of some kind, or more consistent with how cups are calculated with the top players making up a greater portion of the matchmaking process? Thanks

We don't know for sure what the crystal reference means yet do we? I haven't seen verification on a crystal requirement for clan wars, has anyone else?

IF it means that, my thought is that it would keeps players from dropping down in trophies to "game" the clan wars and get weak opponents. I assume trophies isn't the only way it matches clans, but it might be one way. And it also would limit the number of clans doing wars, which wouldn't strain SC system with tons of wars between low level clans.

Being able to farm in Crystal I wouldn't mind this at all, but I can understand how lower level players would hate the crystal requirement if it is true. But having fought my way to TH10 and suffered poor loot the past few months, I'm not going to cry too much for lower level players. Getting to crystal isn't that hard and certainly doesn't require gems to get there. And once many lower player fight up there for clan wars, they can then be farming each other... (and get farmed by me...:cool:)

I dont think trophies are gunna have anything to do with clan wars mate. I think It will be based on th level, number in clan, defence buildings and wall level. I cant be certain, although it wouldnt make sense to base the clans war on trophies :) i got my info from simon tays youtube channel. He had the most information about it. No offence to the other youtubers ;) haha

It is usually 4/5 days of sneak peeks then it will drop. so sometime next week. We've waited months. I'm sure a few more days won't hurt

so how exactly will this clan wars work? is it clan vs clan or one person from another clans battling another person from a different clan

The only thing that will complete this update and make it the best is letting us saving more layouts :) So before each war we can put our trophies base layout and return to farming base when the war is over in just 5 sec :cool:

I imagine SC will not answer detailed questions about how matchmaking is determined because it will be used by some clans to chëat more easily.

I expect rampant chëating in the first few weeks or months of gameplay and changes/tweaks by SC to help prevent clans from chëating by doing thing like adding level 1 alt accounts to their guild to get easier opponents.

I'm not entirely sure which it means...
Compared to the goblin missions where you have as many attempts as you wish, maybe it's just two chances per player per enemy base ?
And the number of attacks will be limited by troop training duration.
...and will there be gemming here too? (probably yes, big time)
We'll see eventually, I guess.

It would be used by clans to exploit the loopholes if adding low lvl players allows you favorable clan wars. That being said, i would expect that if they are confident there are no loopholes, they will provide a little more insight on how it works

No, we are just getting Clan Wars, Gem Box and other bug fixes.

I just hope we can get the specifics. My clan is doomed if every eligible aspect is considered equally, and I imagine many other clans will likely be destroyed as well. I don't understand the reasoning of daily sneak peeks for clan wars, bit of an overkill in my opinion. We have waited a while and yes, we can wait several more days, but everything should be explained all at once.

I'm also curious as to if defenses in our 'war base' are upgrading if our regular base is upgrading defenses?

I think as long as the matchmaking is reaonable, every clan should be closely matched. There are tens of thousands of clans out there so almost every imaginable clan should be matched against other clans in a similar situation. These clans will range from the mostly abandoned inactive clans to small clans comprised of a couple of real life friends to full clans comprised of fully maxed players who raid all day every day.

All bases in clan wars are fully functional on defense, there are no "inactives" per say from everything we have read so far. Also there are hints flying around about being in crystal league for your base to be able to even compete or count on your teams available players. In the video it says you will be matched with another clan by the amount of players in your clan rounding down by fives. So a clan w 46 members would match with w clan w 49 members but not with a clan of 44 members.

On matchmaking: Leader will take the clan to war and the clan will be matched with a clan of equal strength. You cannot decline a match, and as soon as it is made, the preparation phase for that war will start. Not only can you not pick what clan to match with, you can also not decline a match that has been made.

As said in other posts, leaving a clan means you will have to wait a fairly long time period before being able to participate in a Clan War again. This cooldown was intended to prevent unfair behavior in Clan Wars.

Is it the overall average strength of your entire clan in several categories, or is it similar to how you determine cups (weighting the top players in the clan at a much higher percentage than the bottom players)?

SC hasn't released an actual date yet but a lot of people are guessing next Wednesday

adding low lvl bases will mean easy three stars for the enemy. they can have the weakest guy in their clan take down the lvl 1 noob.

if the lvl 1 guy leaves then the cooldown goes into effect, so it would mean you cant rig a bunch of wars in a row.

either way, how many extremely low lvled players can you get to join your clan each war?

I cannot elaborate unfortunately. I do believe GodSon and SimonTay both touched on this, however:

- Hero levels
- Town hall levels
- Weapons (Defences I presume)
- Walls
- Number of players

I can't get more specific than that. Perhaps we'll provide additional information on matchmaking in the future, but I cannot be sure at this point.

This concern has been brought up several times in this thread. My only observation is that we're all constantly upgrading our bases. a saved layout can accommodate an upgraded building, but what happens when you add a completely new building (or decoration for that matter) to your base? is the game engine just supposed to guess where you might have wanted it? At best, any given layout that's not currently being used would need to be invalidated (and thus require fixing before it could be used again).

I want this feature as much as anybody here, but I understand there are second order effects which make it hard to implement in a way that's intuitive.

I believe what he means the higher level players have put in the time (if they're farmers) to get to that level i.e. Paid their dues, so lower level people need to "pay their dues" as well

Is there a reason only the 30 best bases are picked? Fairness??? This also potentially helps requirements, if you want to be apart of a war, join a clan appropriate for your level!

So surely they can do that by raiding and upgrading hard. I understand people gem, nothing wrong with
that at all. But I don't think its fair to say they have to PAY their dues and be unable to participate unless they buy gems :)

I quite agree, I don't believe they should have to buy gems to participate either, but I do believe they'll probably have to work really hard and upgrade their bases. However, from what I understand depending on their respective clan they might be high enough in their clan to participate regardless of the fact they are low level. I saw in either Godson or Simon's video that the number of participants from each clan will depend on the number of members each clan has rounded down to the nearest multiple of 5

Yeah I saw that too. If your in an active clan people should be working hard regardless of lvl :p. As I say, I really hope they dont make clan wars all about gems.

Steve said no there won't be.
But it seems you effectively have two bases anyway.

On day 1 PREPARATION you get to make design and get CC troops.
Then day 2 you raid one another.

So once you have designed and made a ClanWars base on day 1, save it as your clan wars base and revert to farming base in your normal village.

One way to solve the issue of new buildings or whatever being added would be:
when an old layout is loaded and something isn't compatible (say, a new building, or a tree that spawned where a building should be), instead of loading the old layout, it loads it in village edit mode with the new building in the "to be placed" ribbon at the bottom of the screen. Ditto for buildings blocked by trees or whatever. Then you simply place the "unload-able" buildings somewhere, save the layout, and voila! Once you save the completed layout, you are free to remove the pesky tree and move things around as needed. I don't think it is as complicated as it might seem.

So, today there was a vid I saw that clash of clans recommended to me, and I saw that it was a clan wars teaser or should we say SONG WARS! Here's what I think:

Clan wars will be a music off, not a fight off. It will be a hog rider playing the piano, singing with his pig and a wall breaker pushing it. That means the leader must must be a TH7 or up, and have BOTH wall breakers and pig riders unlocked. Then, you are suppost to protect the piano, and the hog rider on it, as well as the WB, while trying to destroy the opponent's troops. There would probably be a troop limit per player depending on player count.

Your ultimate goal is to destroy the main music makers, (pig, mr. t, and skull with bomb) because they power up the troops they are representing. After the music makers are destroyed, the battle will still be waged, but the one with the music makers is most likely to win. After every troop is destroyed, the battle is over.

Great idea:cool: By the way....the Wall Breaker is playing, the Hog Rider and the Hog are singing, and the piano is being pushed by a Barbarian:rolleyes:

What level will the pigs/boars be and will they be dark troop or other? LOL would be fun watching Barbs get flung by the boar tusks as if hitting a spring trap.

so does the hog rider get a deeper voice as he levels up? I hope a new lvl6 hog rider gets introduced and the pig becomes a wart hog.

Well I would've thought the pig would've been a warthog at level 7, not 6, because he's too young to become a wart hog at level 6.
And yes his voice DOES get deeper.

Just because you "pay" for something does not mean it involves a currency... (ei. dollars, gems) I think you are taking the word a little too literally. Fourtires nailed it when he alluded the payment to "time farming and improving base/level."
