Any details on how clan wars will work?
I just have 2 questions after watching all the videos from the youtubers about Clan Wars:
1. Is the number of participants fixed at 10 members per clan? Or can the leader/co-leaders select any number of war participants from their clan?
2. Will there be an improvement in the Village Edit mode where we can save different layouts, so that players can switch between a "War Layout" and a "Farming Layout" very quickly (instead of editing the entire village or build a hybrid base)?

From what i picked up
War mode will save a seperate layout from your normal layout. So you wont need to switch between designs. just have your normal farming one and when you enter clan wars, day 1 is to sort your war design out which will stay the same until you change it??
Daddy said that if you gonna attack a clan that have 36 per example member.. your top 36 player will attack also..
As for an other news.. Godson upload the commercial video of clan wars now, and said to try to find 3 EASTER EGGS !! :cool:
If we fight wars every other day (2 days for each war), then do I need to change my farming layout to the war layout every other day? It would be very troublesome unless I use a hybrid design.
If layouts can be saved, then I can switch my village to the war layout right before the war starts, and then switch back to the farming layout to continue farming. You see what I mean?
please release some details about how it works. we have all been waiting ages for this and you just keep dangling that carrot and not giving anything. the video was good but it didn't give us anything about how it would work. we all already knew that it was coming so it wasn't exactly a sneak peek.

you say you have already released it to apple so you know exactly what is in the update. why not just release it all like you did when you did the sneak peek sprint a few months back.
I mean your on your normal village. like now. and when you enter clan wars area you can click on your village and it will be your war layout and when you exit back clan wars your be returned to your normal village.
I agree with what you say about saving layouts, I only hope they include saving layouts.
as far as it was explained till now:
-> 1. Every member of a clan who wants to participate has to log into the War on the 1st day.
if Clan A has 25 members who wants to fight and Clan B has only 21 then only the first 21 members of Clan A are allowed to participate.
-> 2. Not much information on that till now... Only: the design you'll have by the end of day one will be used for the war... After the design is logged in you can change it back to your regular one... But there is no info if your original design is saved somewhere to switch back to it
Oh I see what you mean, but Simon Tay said the war layout will be a clone of your village before the war starts, which means you probably won't be able to edit the war village in the friendly territories, instead you need to modify your layout in your normal village for war. Is this correct?
If correct, then saving layouts in the Village Edit mode would be super helpful!

sorry for not looking earlier but I thought all the info on clan wars was speculation not from simon tay and daddy YT videos. just watched daddy's and it looks to me like there is 340k of each loot available. is that depending on what the village has on prep day or is that a standard amount?

Just some questions.
* are we going to have clan war statistics? if yes, is it going to be an individual record on our profiles or for the whole clan, right next to the description of the clan? I would like both.
* are we going to be able to save layouts? cause those who farm and willing to participate in clan wars need to redesign their bases every time they want to go to war.
* if members of the clan missed their attacks, what happens?
* if enrolled members left the clan before the battle begins, what happens?

What happens to the troops i use in an attack during clan wars?
I am currently 1,000 trophies ahead of the rest of my clan. Does that mean either I will be able to dominate a clan war with an opposing clan or that my clan mates would get smashed to pieces through the averaging out process?
I am excited of course for clan wars, because i want to see how they will differentiate it from their competitors! I also have a wish and a hope that other already existing features improve as well... one of them being INCREASE the IQ lvl of heroes ^^ thanks SC :)

Saving different layouts in village edit mode is now my #1 feature request.
3 cheers though, this looks completely epic. Thank you for your hard work and visionary design. I think this update hits it out of the park.
Farming bases are largely characterized by the townhall being placed outside of the base. Based on the Simon Tray video which show that storages ontop of the townhall, I think we can expect that loosing your TH will have a loot penalty attached to it to discourage this behavior. This all means that there will likely be no need to have a different base for trophy and farming as in both scenarios you will still want to protect your TH.
Good move on their part I think.

Not just the TH, in a war layout, all the resource buildings (DE & gold storage tanks) will go outside of the base. Also my farming base and my war base are quite different because they are catered towards different trophy ranges where players have very different behaviors. So it would be ideal if we can save layouts and switch back and forth instantly.
If not, it is not a huge deal for me. We can just make war layouts and then move the buildings around (mainly the TH and the storage tanks) to convert a war base to a farming base.
So much this. Can people stay online 24/7? (Excluding the 5 minute breaks) Can shields be bought? I cant see CoC not giving an incentive for gemmers, but how important would it be? I will try to be hopeful, but we are in a game where you pay to be first, of course.

Just watched all four videos. Took till Simons one to actually get some details! His is by far the best. God sons was decent too. Daddy, your videos are normally good mate, but this one looks rushed if im honest. And that's including the 90 seconds of black at the end! You can see chief pats gimmick in releasing a video a day, but people want info now! And that's what Simon gave.

I'm very closed to maxed defences,
3x lvl 12 Archer towers still to do, 4x lvl 8 air defences to do, 2x lvl 3 inferno's to do ... Just another 68 million there...
But walls are waaay down, mostly just level 8.
Interested how matchmaking will take such things into account IE how big an impact walls will have. As if defences takes big priority I will be matched against people way above me, but if walls has a big part to play I might find this works quite nicely ...
Also, I do wonder if we'll now have to kick some of the less active clan members, but in theory having to login once per day to prep and then just to attack twice isn't exactly arduous. It might get pretty frustrating for the guys though if every time we go to war they are a guarunteed 3 star defeat ...

It is my understanding we are matched up as closely as possible wit a clan of similar lvl......
Will the high lvl farmers join mediocre to terrible clans as mercenaries? Will the mediocre to terrible clans playing that clan become upset when that farmer three stars half their bases and takes away their bonus loot?
Will high lvl farming clans split in half and recruit 25 noobs to each new clan to earn favorable matchups while in farming mode?
I am wondering if it is 25 people vs 25 people if it takes the first 25 that accept the clan war or only the top 25 players listed in the clan by trophy count. I am hoping it is the first 25 to accept the war to keep people who are not able to make the war or are gone for a couple days from joining.
After watching all of the videos that are up as of now, we can all agree that Simon's was ultimately the only useful one to watch; although, Godsons has some good insight. Simon mentioned that involved in matchmaking will be:
- Hero levels
- Town hall levels
- Weapons (Defences I presume)
- Walls
- Number of players
Obviously we can expect to get more in-depth videos, but I would like to know how everything works regardless. Judging from the videos, it seems that SC has actually made a solid Clan Wars, a side game that is fair to all. The only thing I am not certain on, is this matchmaking. Is it truly the average town hall? Do players who lack heroes register a 0/0 on an average hero level? Were research levels overlooked by Simon, or will they be excluded from interest? Does the matchmaking take more interest in the top 10 players of every clan? Either way, I will finally tip my hat off to SC for what seems to be the best update we have witnessed.

It looks like avail loot is based on lvl of the storages. So u might want to avg out just one lvl lower than the majority of your players are.....get just enough noobs on your squad to drop a tier and let big guys three star everything
Its a double edged sword. Kinda pointless unless you are winning a massive amount of gems anyways imo. People will try and ♥♥♥♥♥ the system for sure but it won't be as bad if they have higher tier rewards for higher lvl bases match ups. Thats the incentive. You bring in trash, you get trash:rolleyes:

I agree, we have the loot bonus for that. Somewhere in the video (or other ones), i saw bases with 340k resources each bonus, while others have 90k or something. So there're definitely different tiers for the bonus.
Also, exploiting the system by allowing weak townhall into your clan will also means free 3* for enemies, it goes both ways.
Right which is why u sandbag just enough to drop where u can still dominate....u might want 10 noobs instead of 25, all depends on matchmaking.....
hope supercell takes like the top two or three players into the most consideration when matchmaking to discourage it
If this has already been covered then apologies in advance but, who is able to send a clan to war? I'm assuming this will only be possible for leaders and co-leaders to prevent 50 people simultainiously searching for an opponent...

People can only attack 2 people, so it's kind of harder to exploit than you guys think.
Who knows exactly how it will work.....but hopefully they have it figured out to stop these kinds of exploits....if not hopefully they figure it out before release

Presumably it is 'weighted averages' like how the current clan score is based? So the ten weakest accounts would have a very low impact on the clan rating.

I am optimistic first off but there are some things I worry about
1) How will the match making system balance lopsided clans?
-Simon Tay alluded to this but with nothing concrete. I looks like perhaps you are limited in the number of opposing clan members you can attack. Simion Tay talked about coordinating your attacks with your clan so that you don't attack the same people. Perhaps this means your biggest hitters are better off attacking the opposing big hitters, because your weaker clan members would need someone they could reasonably expect to beat. It also said it'd only take the most stars for the final calculation (meaning if two attacks occur on the same base, one was a 3-star and one was a 1-star -only the 3 star would count.
1b) Okay, second issue. How will it work for lopsided clans? I am currently 1,000 trophies ahead of the rest of my clan. Does this mean in averaging out ability that I'd get an opponent I could crush, while my clanmates would be desperately outmatched?
2) How is the loot bonus calculated?
This is a big consideration. I appeared in Simion's video that more difficult opponents would generate more loot. If this were true, then your heavy hitters would want the bigger loot pots. It also appeared those loot pots where significant - which is important. As we'd need good motivation to hit those tough targets
3) Do we train our own troops? How is this related to the clan castle donations.
Simion said that the clan castle is automatically restocked. Is that with the same units? Do I still build and attack with an army like normal?

O hope they don't go off the top player. I'm a lvl 100 with all level 70s and under. I don't want my buds to get destroyed
I hope the rewards include more incentives than just the loot reward, because it does not look all that significant. A couple battles per day with a 300k bonus, would be nice, but it would be similar to offering 2 abandoned bases. Can this truly raise the fun factor for those extremely inactive clanmates?
Well, if it becomes common then most clans will have mercenaries so it will even out. Also you are limited to 2 attacks per day, so even a top player can only influence the war by a little bit.
Sorry if this has already been addressed. Are there leaderboards? Your own clan's Clan War profile? Would be cool to have a world rank system like our current for cup hunting but with a clan profile which shows the number of 1-2-3 stars, wins/losses, back log of who was faced, total wins etc. Matching up against top clans to see where you stand would provide additional motivation as well. (Not that this update isn't awesome enough) Cheers - ark
Mercenaries will actually hurt your clan. Your best chance to win a war is if your entire clan is basically evenly matched. allowing high level players to join will skew clan-wide matchups to be more difficult overall. SC has spent a lot of time thinking about how to implement this, so trying to game the system is probably pointless. It's best to treat this as it is--an interesting diversion designed to add fun to the game.
We won't know until they actually release but I just wanted to remind folks that "average" is not necessarily "arithmetic mean".
"Average" can also be the median or mode.
For median, it would be the middle player in any ranked list. This removes the skew a lvl 250 player puts on a clan of lvl 25 players. Median as a measure could be carefully gamed also. 26 low level players and 24 high level players would have a low median.
For mode, it is the most frequently occurring value. You can probably figure this out and dream up ways to game it.
Since we have been told they have multiple inputs for their "clan level" measurement, I think we can also be sure they have looked carefully at the various ways to characterize a clan. Even simply going with an average value cross indexed to the standard deviation value would reduce the opportunity to "game" your clan level toward weaker opponents. They have had a good amount of time to think this through and play test it. I would not worry about it too much.
Seems like we still need an answer for how base editing will work. As mentioned, it looks like the war base is a clone of your current base, which then gets edited and saved. It looks like it is saved for that war for sure.
I guess, what happens next war? Do you need to create and edit a new war base? Or will it save the last one you used? With building levels changing often and maybe new ones being added, I don't see how it could save it for the next war event. My guess is you need to edit a new war base for each new war.
Looks like there's gonna be a lvl 6 cc. Godson's vid shows his lvl 5 cc offering a 7m upgrade presumably to 6. Simon Tay's vid shows his lvl 4 cc costing 5m (currently 7m) from lvl 4 -5, presumably to adjust to the cost of a lvl 6 cc.
