Should I upgrade minions as I approach town hall 8?

Hi all I'm at a bit of a crossroad, I need to figure out wether I should upgrade minions to level 2 or not before I upgrade my town hall to level 8. It isn't about getting enough dark elixir since my barb king is already level 5 but as I sit here and do the math (as I often do with troop spell and hero upgrades) it looks like upgrading minion isn't really worth it… at least from level 1 to 2. Their overall cost increase outweighs their damage boost, and slight health increases are pointless for flying troops anyway. For example 10 of them at level 1 would do 350 damage per second and cost 60 DE but at level 2 they would do 380 DPS and cost 70 dark elixir. You basically get 30 damage for every ten elixir, which seems pretty low considering a level one minion does 35 damages and costs 6… and doesn't need 10k dark elixir in the first place haha. I realize that eventually it will help out since I will be able to make more out of the spaces any minion I make take up, I'm just wondering since I plan on using minions as a cheap way to farm when I'm not saving up dark elixir and I don't want to waste my time and resources on something if other people have found it to be pointless, as I'm sure many others have felt with this same decision. If you plan on using them extensively, then upgrade them.

They get HP increase too.

If upgrading to lvl 2 isn't that appealing to you, remember they become real dangerous at lvl 3 and beyond. Thing is, you have to upgrade them to lvl 2 first, before upgrading them further.

an upgrade for minions is not noticeable, but you must upgrade to lv.2 before you can get lv.5 minions :D

I was already impressed when you told us your BK is level 5 at TH7.. wow :)
And in the end, you'll upgrade everything to the maximum leven so why not do it now?

Very true and now that I look at it I should be able to have the upgrade finish before my builder gets done on town hall, either way it's another 10k DE and 5 days wait I don't have to worry about during town hall 8 :D. Yeah I'm very happy that I worked at the barb king and walls for as long as I did, I'm actually already at 90 million on both my gold grab and elixir escapade so I've defiantly put in the farming time at town hall 7 haha. Hopefully I can get both those early on in town hall 8!
