They didnt announce it per say but one of the mods eluded to this update being "DARK" which would lead many to believe that DE is involved with these characters.

My guess is those new De barrack bought with normal elixir,and troops drain will cos 70% elixir 30% DE , other wise if troops cost 100% elixir then is very costly army each raid then isn't economic more:) even for gemmer they think that same
-may Sc add more drills and increase production rate from drills because I don't wanna spent 1000De to train those troops at battle!otherwise if they don't do then this updates more then worthless!

Twister just confirmed that these new troops could be donated, meaning that these are normal daily bases troops that are trained for a reasonable amount of dark elixir.

this is what they said on their official facebook page;

To me it sounded that it needs dark elixir to train, link that to twister's confirmation that they can be donated.

Which sadly would make this update rather pointless for people trying to level their heros in case we don't see an increase (and I mean significant) for your DE production.

In case these new troops make better armies for trophie hunts than pekka/ dragon.... we will see a much larger thread than in HayDay.

We don't mind new troops to cost dark elixir and ♥♥♥♥ just make dark elixir easier to farm!

have we considered level 11-13 barracks??
