You should drop trophies. I almost spend all my TH8 lifetime in Silver I, and it was great. You can stay at 1350+, and that was in January-February.
Edit : forgot to mention, I'm myself avoiding 1600+ trophies since I'm upgrading my two Xbows and have full storages almost all the time. I often meet a 17-1800+ with lvl 20+ heroes in GII, and I'm TH9, so I can't imagine for TH8s.
