New Boat Strategy

Since, for me, the boats now seem like a rarely achievable goal, this is how I'm going to play them unless something changes to make them less of a waste of gaming time. I will open the 3 easiest crates on a boat so my friends can earn the LB points if they want them. The remaining crates will go ignored unless I have an overstock/idle machine, and then at least I can earn a few gold and XP. I don't see tickets from boats as achievable really anymore except maybe the rare bread/quick crop/popcorn boat now.

I just did my usual round of checking neighbours boats, usually i find allot of sugar and dairy boats, which i boycott, but i would always find other things, well from the 20 boats or so boats i just checked 1 was asking for anything either than sugar and dairy, lol and i didn't have enough to help the poor person, its just become silly now.

I am so disappointed, in fact i had more fun today reading and posting here than playing the game.

This change has ruined the game in my opinion! Boat points will be near impossible to obtain unless you have unlimited supply of dairy and sugars :(

If you are in a position to do so, get a small group of farmer friends together (my group is 13 including myself) so you can trade and proceed in the game accordingly.

We all met online. After some time interacting and trading, we did just that. We use an app to chat and organize trades as well as filling boats.

Yeah...that's a ton of time outside of the game dedicated to the game that I sure don't have, I make time to set up one round of trades a week (about an hour on top of my hour of play a day, it's just a game after all), that would make all my game time spent working out trading. I'd still rather play the game and ignore the boats than spend all my time trying to fulfill one tiny piece of the game. And I'm sure SC's goals are not to force out more of game getting around the rules.

I wonr even bother with boats anymore. In fact i wont even bother about the app all that much. Time to get back to real life

I'm not sure what to do with my boats. I used to open all crates.
My last boat needed 3x2 berry juice, 3x3 blue hat, and 3x19 sugarcane. I opened one of each item, but maybe I should've opened the 3x sugarcanes.

I'm still puzzling on this new maximum crate thingy. My next boat needs cream, that one will be casted off. So I do have time to figure out how to combine good neigborship and a new boat strategy.

I seem to be casting off lots more full boats than i did before the upgrade! I fill what I can when it arrives, then open up the rest and get on with production. Usually someone has filled the crates before I get back to them. I'm enjoying filling my neighbours' boats too. And I'm sending away the impossible boats - no diamonds for speeding things up.

Isn't it funny how the same game can provoke such different reactions in people?

bah the new update is garbage, you'll be able to make the first few boats but then it will be impossible to keep up the pace because you'll need dairy and sugar for producing your regular items.

How do you send off an unfinished boat? I've tried but its greyed out.

To send a boat early it has to be completely empty (without requesting crate assistance) or completely full.

The send off boat button will not be grayed out if either of those criteria are satisfied.

You have to do it before you fill or open any crates.

Well i have been filling boats for long time , crates open or otherwise.
What i do is stock up as items to a minimum number based on the mindkeepers guide.
common items that can be bought easily via papers and friends, i do not stock at all, i just buy them.
i dont really keep silo parts so i have a little more barn space.
i always skip brown sugar, cream, popcorn boats cos its too troublesome to stock so many.
So the only negative for me the past two updates is i can no longer bring in new boat at one diamond = less vouchers.

Before the LB and the Boat Score Hunter achievement was introduced and I started hunting crates for my achievement (I never cared about ranking), I was XP hunting exclusively which meant I was never interested in using my good stock for filling my own or other people's crates as truck orders gives better XP while crates only give a 50/50 balanced ratio on coins and XP that is fixed.

With the new 3 crate limit, I'll still use my good stock to help neighbors for wheel points (sugar/dairy excluded as I'm the leader of the boycotting movement lol). But I'll start casting away a lot of my own boat as I don't get points for filling my own crates and will now only keep the most basic and and easy boats. And on these easy boats that I keep, I'll of course open 3 crates to spread the love :D

Are u guys hanging out on Kik? Is it possible to get an invitation? I'm a trade savvy person :D

My next boat needs cherries, cacoas and grain. Haven't had such an easy boat since ... well ever!
This would've been a great boat for my neighbors to earn wheel and co-op points.

I wish we could see how many wheel points there are to be gained by each crate. Even if they go back to the possibility of opening them all. I noticed 2 apple jam for instance is only worth 1 wheel point, 60 grain is worth 3 wheels. Two apple jam takes 12 hours to make, 60 grain maybe 10 minutes. This doesn't make sense to me at all.

On easy boats that u keep, u can still open 1 crate of each kind and give ur nbrs the chance of helping u fill them :)
There's barely any good crates to fill now with the 3 crate limit.

Ofcourse I did see the usual crates with sugar and dairy, but I did fill quite a few with different kinds of crops, sweaters, roasted tomatoes, bread, popcorn and coffee. And the best: 2 crates asking for B&E! ;-)

(EDIT: and ofcourse some crates asking for jams and icecreams as well. Not that you get the impression I'm hoarding all the rare stuff. But we we're talking about easy crates, weren't we?)

My thinking is that limiting help from friends to 3 crates was a bad move.

Having said that it does add the additional challenge of deciding which three crates to throw open.

Hahaha naah! I have some wonderful neighbors and still fill lots of easy crates but much much less than before the update of course. I'll be hard for me to reach 15,000 points to get the 50 diamonds reward. I'm almost halfway but after the update I will probably never get there.

I can't deny it isn't an interesting twist but it still sucks ..

I'm probably get tapped on the fingers by the MOD's for wrong tread, but have you seen the farm name of LB no. 2? Poor guy has to figure out a whole new boat filling stategy with his 20K+ followers ;-)

Hahahah! Hilarous! I never check the LB so I didnt notice until u mensioned it and had to go check. Poor them, now they actually have to fill 70% of the boat themselves and not just pay money and have other to the though work for them hehe!

We use an app called Line. We've switched apps multiple times seeking certain features. Line is similar Kik. You have a few farmers you'd invite to create a group?

I found and revived this thread (and was surprised it hadn't been locked as most other threads were we talked about update changes were) because now it's a month later-and I had a HUGE moment this morning. I didn't want to post this in the Announcement Boat Changes thread-because this huge moment directly stems from my new boat strategy.

I was really surprised and kinda sad when the implications of this HUGE moment hit me, I realized I had really joined the leagues of People in the "The past updates have really really messed this game up so much we are looking for other options" club. I have always kept one foot in the door.

Forgive me for my past complaints/whines about our last 2 updates. Forgive me "Team Kendra" members (anyone remember that? 😄 For what I'm about to say. I'm still with you all, LOL.

But-This morning-April 6, 2013-for the first time since October something or other-

I RACED TO OPEN A DIFFERENT GAME BESIDES HAY DAY WHEN I WOKE UP.....

Duh Dunt Duh...........

It's taken you this long since the update to get to this point?! :eek:

Shame on SC for the way they're treating diehard and longterm players :(

Nah I didn't think you were slow, not by any means...your post just made me a little sad, and angry at SC - they have many loyal players here so willing to forgive the recent messy update business, their unsatisfactory communication of late feels like a lack of respect to that loyalty.

I know who I think is 'super slow' and it's not you.
