There is not enough time allotted to make board items and boat items. Too long of time to make items needed. Three hours is crazy. Cost of new machines if outrageous. And why can we not have as many of the machines as we want as we want ?

That's the whole point of this game darling...
If you get as many as machines / coins / diamonds / time you'd like, what's fun in it ?
The game is about resource allocation, time management, coin-xp balance.
You are forced to make choices all the time, and you'd better choose wise ;)
And it's not impossible. Just reached level 75 today and the only things I don't have are the donkeys that cost twenty gold vouchers.. It takes thought, planning and patience.
I used to try to do everything all the time. I thought I had to keep up! Ah, what a greenie i was ;) I play differently now. I rotate my focus. Here are some examples:
situation: I want more coins
focus: sell items at max price in rss; keep up on crops so I don't waste coins buying them when I run out
situation: I want to level up
focus: concentrate on truck orders first and I rip down anything with low xp, secondly boats (mine/friends/ones found in dd)
situation: there is an event that I want to participate in
focus: whatever the event is
situation: i am low on inventory, especially dairy/sugar/jams
focus: i ignore all orders and just roll with production, scouring the dd for items if I have the $$
situation: I want to expand my barn/silo/land
focus: wheating & again scouring the dd for items, trade the stuff I get tons of for the rare items (its different for everyone)
situation: I want vouchers for pets/deco items
focus: i wait until I get 54 diamonds (and have the time to devote) to hire tom for 5 days then rack up tons of jewlery. Then I rip down all truck orders except jewlery and watch the vouchers add up!
as for little people, to me they are a trash bin- and I feel terrible saying that (yeah I was the kid who couldn't sleep until all stuffed animals were tucked in too) but they don't give good $ and they are not real, so there is no added bonus of making someone smile when I sell them something. Sorry little dudes, but thx for taking all that dratted wheat off my hands!
as for the things that take for ever to make, that's just the way it is so we gotta accept that as it is and adapt a playing rhythm that works!
Can Tiggerr's post be put in the Guide section, please? It contains lots of great information for newer players.
Thx! Glad it helps :)
I quess I am of a different breed because I am not on a mission to stock my farm with everything that is available, I can purchase anything I need. I personally don't like too much clutter. :o)
It's not so much a mission as it is getting the experience points to level up. Yes you can get everything you want through purchasing them but you don't get XP that way. Each plot of wheat gives not only two wheat but one XP and that's the lowest and fastest. If you only purchase the goods, and I am assuming you buy they to complete boat orders or truck orders, you miss out on the XP from making them. Plus the boats and trucks give you less coins than selling the in the shop, so you are working at a loss, if you buy too much for these orders. So I am wondering how you are progressing in the game. I am assuming you do make some things, yes? How do you make money and level up. It is much slower if you don't produce your own supplies.
In addition to Neen's suggestions I'd like to point you to the New to Hay Day forum. There are a lot of tips there including my collection of threads with advice from a lot of successful players. The link is in my signature. I know sometimes it seems overwhelming but eventually you fall into a routine with the game. If you don't have enough money for each machine, you might be leveling up too fast. And if a boat order is too hard to fill, you can cast it off as long as you don't start filling it or ask for help. Some folks don't find that out till many levels later.
Congratulations, Tiggerr. I achieved Level 76 last night and I have a very minimalist farm. :)
I would add that you don't have to accept boats or board orders, you can tap on the rubbish bin on the board and the order will disappear and a new one will appear in 15 minutes or so. By tapping on the dock, you can see what items your next boat is going to require. You can then choose to make the items with your machines, buy the items in the DD, or make the decision to send that boat off empty, and use the 4 hours to restock your barn with items of which you don't have enough. You don't have to be a slave to the board or the boat. You only have to do what you want to do, and are capable of doing.
