Dragons: Too expensive to use?

They're obviously too expensive if your goal is to farm elixer but they can be very valuable in trophy pushes.

Yeah, I guess I was just curious how people felt that most of the higher level troops aren't useful for the majority of the game.

Kind of defeats the purpose of having them, since 90% of the time players are farming.

I'm guessing you're a mid th7 if you're getting your barracks up to level 9. My advice if you're hurting for elixir? Use barch. Cheapest and fastest army comp in the whole game. Works well, too, but only if you're in the right trophy range. If you need elixir that badly, use barch. I'll tell you now though, from mid th8 and above, elixir is all too common.

No, I'm TH lvl 8, currently maxing out. Finishing up my last 30 walls and my last 2 Teslas. Everything else is maxed, I just never used anything above healers in my barracks so I never leveled them up. Got bored and decided to train barracks and get dragons, which I found to add an exciting element but they aren't worth the elixir when I can farm the same amount of resources with an army that cost half as much and cost 12 minutes to make.

That's my whole point, they aren't useful enough for their cost at this level.

But people on this forum never understand anything or simply don't read the first post. I swear, this forum may be the most useless gaming forum I've ever been a part of.

You can't think of anything but the way you're playing, which is the root of the problem. We all use the same damn composition because it's the cheapest and works, so why change right? Then why even have the option to use dragons/pekkas or dark troops?

They're useless for farming, and should only be unlocked once trophy hunting at lvl 10 max. We should all just use barch until we're bored out of our freaking minds according to you.

Dragon is too expensive... not worth using it to farm unless there are loots over 500k of each, rarely see that.
I only train 1-2 dragon as backup plan. Barch (barbarians & archers) and March (minions & archers) are the best for farming, cost less & train fast can raid 100k-200k loots

you're the one who can't think of anything but the way you're playing. What makes you think everyone used the same army to get the same amount of resources at the same league ? Not counting those who push or doing both pushing and fatming at the same time.

I'm TH 9 and I used 2 dragons + 16 balloons + minions to farm de in crystal league. When hitting storages, my targets are the ones with at least 270k/270k gold-elixir. Are you going to do that with barch ?

elixer upgrades are offensive. they should be done right when you get to a new TH lvl as priority with barch or bam. after they are done, who cares if dragons cost 50k or 75k. you dont need it and you have WAY more then you need. so who cares about cost.

dragons are far more usefull when all 4 rax can build them. 4 drags, 20 archers, 50 minions. 30 minutes build time. very powerfull attack. quicker then giant healer wizard. they are a novelty imo when you can only make them from 1 or 2 rax. when all 4 can make them they are very powerfull.

I don't use barch, but I normally get a lot more than 270k per raid. My average is probably 250k with most raids being in the 320-350k range. I just want a more exciting raiding composition which doesn't cost a fortune.

Is it that hard for people to grasp?

Dragons are rubbish for farming elixir, but you can at least break even or at least only loose a few hundred thousand.

Dragons shine when farming sporadically throughout the day. I cook 6-8 drags & the rest minions and raid every hour or so as work/real life allows. This comp is strong enough that I can go for any big raid I come across, so less time nexting in the bathroom at work, hoping for that perfect collector raid.

I usually hold out for 250k or so gold which usually gets the same in elixir. But I'll also drop on any 1.5k or more DE oportunities. The net result is about 2mil gold per day before I put kids to bed & sit down for an uninterupted BArch session.

The neat part is this: since I've gained a ton of trophies during the day, I can just farm back down without worrying about loosing my range, and since I'm BArching, I gain a few million elixir at night.

So yes dragons are awesome farming troops (in gold 2 & 3). They can bring home fat gold/DE when time between raids is not an issue, and they are great at replenishing the trophies lost when farming with tier 1 based armies.

Best of all...their a ton of fun to attack with :D

200-300k elixir should have been easy in this game but the issue is the storage size, 8 million max?? why?? at least for elixir it should be more. It overflows all the time.

If we have 80 million storage of elixir ... we'll fill it up while doing our walls and defence. Keep using that in lab and fun raids once in a while.

It is simple, we farmers can upgrade to high lvl walls (500k or few millions a pop) ... then what is 300k for us? nothing. Issue is small storage.

For trophy hunting I can understand, but since trophies are somewhat pointless right now, I feel like the cost is very prohibitive.

I'm sure it's been talked about a lot here, so forgive me, but I'm curious if people think dragons should be reduced in price so that there would be more variations in raiding composition.

Pekkas are a whole 'nother beast, which I think are a bit too powerful to be reduced in price but I think it's the same problem which causes army compositions to become so standard and end up feeling quite stale after a while for a game which requires constant play over long periods of time.

It'd be nice to see more varying compositions. I've been trying to switch things up with dark elixir troops, but that also runs into a similar problem as well. Although, I find that I'm able to recoup my dark elixir more times than not.
