I wouldn't recommend leaving a builder open unless you're doing level 10 walls and sometimes while working on level 9 walls if you know you won't have a builder for a few days.
Other than that, try to time your upgrades so that you have a builder finish upgrading something each day.

I once did that when upgrading my walls to lvl 7 and regretted it. So much time wasting, by that time a builder could finished at least a couple teslas. On the other hand, if you plan to farm 8-10 million gold a day, perhaps that might be a good idea.
I try and make it so that a builder finishes every 1 day or less so I can dump extra gold on walls then farm till the next builder is ready
Yes! It's not that hard to acquire the gold you need for an upgrade. Plus, it really helps save time!
Before I got to TH8, I saved ~2.3mil just for walls. When I hit TH8, I immediately got my 50 new walls to level 5 (gold).
Further wall upgrades come slowly, so I didn't need a dedicated wall builder.
In most cases YES, always one builder free for walls even if I don't do it now on my th9 after finishing 250 skulls. I know there are higher walls to build but for now expensive defence upgrades feel more important.
So if you ask me have a builder free for walls until they are all skulls. They are good enough to scare of most enemies under Chrystal and they look so cool. :cool:
There's no place a certain Townhall should be. I doubt you will stay in master when you upgrade to TH10. And it is ok if Th10s farm you, because no doubt you are farming TH8s.Quote:

edit: according to my defense log i've lost about 1.4m gold in the last 14 days. Who wouldn't pay 1.4m gold for 14 days build time. I'd probably pay 5-10x that much happily. I'm a new th9 (so defenses not upgraded yet) and have lots in storages usually.
Leaving a builder free for all or most of the time is foolish for most people. The only way it could possibly make sense is if you farm so much that your storages are constantly full, making builder management impossible: then the only choices are to cut down on play time or else leave a builder free.
And if that's the case, and you really don't want to take a break, then the choice should be obvious. If you have to question whether it's wise to leave a builder free then it probably isn't.
Also, late th8 and th9 have expensive upgrades, so saving (having lots of gold in storage - 3 to 7 million) is unavoidable anyway?
Kinda new to this posting on forums thing, but ill give my two cents. Im almost maxed th8 with 25 level 8 walls left to go. I found it more exciting to keep 1 builder free whilst the others worked on other upgrades. In my opinion it all depends on how active you are. If your going to be playing alot of hours each day then keep a builder free. It will be more productive in the long run to get a load of wall done. On the other hand if you know your not going to be that active, have all builders work. Make the game work around you :) hope that helps.
I haven't kept a builder free in a while, have done it in the past. With 5 builders and long build time at TH8, I am thinking about doing again.
My reasoning is simple...I stop raiding when I have too much gold and no builders for days....
Also, I want to max TH8 all at once, not just defenses and barracks. At my current pace, I will be done with defenses long before my lab is done. Once I have my defenses are maxed its going to be near impossible to resist going TH9, even with troops to max.
