Maybe your hero are badly placed to the point that there's no need to lure?
Or maybe the attacker has an insight of a skilled pro and he tried to utilize your heroes to suck his troops towards your core?

I don't see the need to try to put all other methods of raiding to Champ down, tbh.
If he enjoys BArching, power to him.
And the fact that you can BArch to 3700 should actually prove the point as to why defence needs a *weeeee* bit of tweaking in the defender's favour.

@Blackdragone: Interesting video u shared there, however, i would argue that is not a barching to 2 stars. His barches are most dead before they broke the core, whats left are the witches,the skellies, and YES...heros. Its the heros who eventually took down the th, giving a two star win, not so much as the barches themselves.
Difficult thing is that we rarely get matched with even opponents and even rarer for us to attack a evenly matched opponent. Attackers gets to choose who to attack and even if looking for a win but trophy gsin we pick the base that offes best odds in getting what we want. Personally my combo of choise has been balloonians so it is easy to look of rbasewhere infernoes are in single mode, xbows point horizontally, archer queen is sleeping or lurable and cc is lurable. Addto the point that most people have 3-5 defensive upgrades going on is it really wonder that attacker usually wins?
Change the metrics for win, one star if you do 75% damage, second star if you destroy also th and three stars for 100% damage.
Maxed heroes and spells are the problem. Heroes should have been capped at 30, possibly even lower, like 25 or so. Currently, you can botch an attack, get to 40% drop heroes and pick up the last 10% with no problem.
And spells themselves are not the problem, being able to use 5 spells is simply too much. I remember when the spell factory was added, the max in the game was 3 spells. Any newb can drop 5 rage spells with maxed dragons and get at least 1 star.
We just finished up the spring '14 trophy push. Every champ in the clan would lose on defense every time. The question was just how many trophies would they lose after logging? Sometimes only 3 or 4 while other times they would lose 10.
I think the big problem is the defense designed to kill high health targets does a fairly poor job at it - single mode infenos.
Make them have a perferred target of heros and attack would become more difficult. Right now they just target trash troops one at a time. They should lock onto heros the instant they are in range. Forcing the attacker to save freeze spells to handle it.
Interesting idea about the number of spells, never happen though. I think the nerf to freeze radius could happen without too much effort

I read through all the comments and, while I may agree that a tweak may be necessary to make defense stronger, I do not agree with the comments about heroes being OP.
It takes around 7M DE and over 360 builder times to max them. They have to be OP.
