Which Anti-Hog to use at TH9?

Hi guys

I am a mid TH9. I reached Crystal 3 recently and now I am farmıng around 1600-1800. I still get quite a bit of hog attacks.

I am using junliangs Diamond defender and tried it to make it anti-hog but didnt really work for me. I lost 2000 DE in the last two hog attacks :(

So I really need to change the base to a Anti-Hog design. Yes and I did do my research but I cant decide what to use.

Should I go for ringus or Mamba ? or something else.

Here is some info on my base in case you want to have an idea. Defense is sill mediocre for a TH9. Although I didnt go up to TH9 as a premmie I spent a lot of time upgrading troops. My giants are 6 lvl now. ARchers have 6 days to go for lvl 6. and I also upgrade DE storage to level 6 and DE drills to lvl 4. Mortars are all 7. As a result couldnt spend much on defense. My air defense are now going to be lvl 6.

Hey, nice base you got there. I suggest that you try placing your townhall outside your base as it may attract lower levelled players who are sniping your townhall. Also just to add on, hog riders are very dominant at your trophy level and there is nothing you can really do bout it. I have tried many anti hog rider bases but get wrecked by giant healer or mass dragons, so there is really no perfect base. Although I am in no ways a really good player, just an average player here also th9, I have managed to get 2 of my wizard towers to 7 by attacking constantly.

Yeah I would guess having a pure anit hog base cannot cater to both mass dragon or giant healer. I was just wondering about the experiences people had with their anti-hog bases or the anti-hog bases they used.

i've developed my own anti hog. tried quite a few other designs from others, including ringus. after 4 months of tweaking here are the key design points:

1. xbows & teslas, and seeking air mines & 2 mortars in core, plus DE storage. teslas are VERY important

2. middle ring, all non defences, this can include CC, and king / queen

3. in outer ring the use of funneling is key. i have 4 wall gaps with spring traps, i use cannon's as the first hog/giant lure as they have high hit points.

4. use maxed giant bombs in pairs BETWEEN cannons, these will take out hogs in one go if they are too slow with heal spells

5. 2 more spring traps between compartments with defences in them.

6. my air defences are a bit exposed, this is always trade off, but i use the red air bombs in the outer layer to catch minions.

7 my town hall is actually covered by 3rd mortar - looks strange, but it means the TH is actually part of the defence structure. if troops are dropped near it they will take huge looses therefore less to farm me!

PS - this base works well against dragoons as they move round the parimiter attacking collectors

I just checked your base. Looks really good. Why dont you share the base and same replays? I believe it does deserve attention. Was anybody able to get that DE? :))

I was thinking of baiting the attacker to attack from a certain point of the base in order to make sure that spring traps work. In my base not all spring traps get activated.

Can I copy your base? Wouldnt mind trying it our for a while.

Hi! :) so i used the ringus base, it worked great against hogs espeially the trophy ringus cause its defense ring is harder to break but it's vulnerable to giants/wiz/healers when the opponent is carrying a bunch of WB, even a barch army 2 starred me even if his heroes were both lvl40 still sad to see that kind of army take your precious DE xD
I'm now testing another anti hog base i found around the end of the thread "let's build a new th9 base for the new loot system" something like that. But my DE was taken by a friendly th10 who just put 11 eleven drag lvl4 in one spot :/ with 3lightning and two rages maxed. Haven't been attacked by hogs yet.

I agree with gandalf, your base looks cool :cool: and no offense but the placement of the double giant bombs seems too obvious to me :/

would love to share base!! but i've only just joined the forum, bit of a newb so don't know how to add pictures to the post!

the DE rarely gets taken, although i've had a few sneaky lightening spells take some.

The spring traps work well most of the time. The little trick is to place a non-defence item infront of the wall gap. This means barbs will go to that, and hopefully the giants / hogs move deeper and hit trap.

Also, the t shaped wall sections are important as they give the biggest distance between outer / inner core defences!

yes... its obvious where the bombs are, but often the raiders just walk straight into them. They could pre-fire a heal spell, but i guess they don't want to risk it?

This is what i like about unpopular or weird designs xD People don't know where the traps are hidden and/or are unable to do somthing watching their troops going the wrong way xD they could still guess but as you said they want risk it cause they're not sure :)
Btw have you tested your base in crystal? (and maybe master? XD)

yes... i've been up in crystal 1, with this design & a trophy anti hog but not masters yet. I actually dropped down to farm as i'm finding gold the most efficient. At my league i only get TH sniped OR TH10 thinking they can destroy me, then realize the can't!!!

ringus or black mamba, however mamba only holds up against hogs

Need to give kids and old people a chance too, thats why supercell made hog riders, sweet brainless 0 skillz troops:cool:

A th9 base can't defend against hogs well, the difference is between 1 star or a 3 star

hey, tbh your base is pretty average for a hog defence, what you need it an outer layer of defences with a inner layer of storages, de drills and mines and then a central layer with your cc, de storage, xbows and telsas. check out billbykins in clan bummingbrigade. thats mine and I've lost only 1/10 defends at 2400 trophies. cheers
